Color banding occurs when the display is unable to show all of the 16.7 million colours available at 24bit (1 byte for each of red, green and blue) color depth. Our blades are fitted with 16bit displayable colors so the range of colors is limited to 65536. As you see, it's easy to understand that, given 16.7m / 65536 = 256, a lot of 24bit color space will sort of map into the same 16bit color, producing bands of the same color where a smooth gradient should occur. The fancy solution is, therefor, to trick our eyes by blending pixels of different shades in a given area so that the net result shows up as the intended 24bit color. That process is called dithering and it's made available through the settings->performance->use dithering. Make sure you reboot after enabling/disabling it and check your photos carefully or try to take a picture of a surface with a smooth gradient of colors. Hope this helps whoever wants to understand ;) (Edited/updated: the main purpose of this post was forgoten...) On my blade, with tilal's 07.04.12 release, the dithering is disabled and my photos do show up perfect. Enabling it, I do notice the dithering pattern though, varying from color to color / image to image, you may need to look pretty close to notice it or spot it at once.

hey all, i decided to release a new version finally this rom has a lot of fixes and includes andalululu's framework so big thanks to him at a start there are still few issues due to HDPI framework but the rom is pretty much okay for daily usage.. as older ones, this rom too uses vamshi newest kernel, i decided to add both gen1 and gen2 files in installation.. also note that vamshi himself said to switch to SmartassV2 for better battery performance note: i do not have gen2 device so gen2 has not been tested launcher has been resized again, widget size have been fixed and 4x4 widgets now works, they dont overlap with dock, you can see screenshot of 4 2x2 clocks in one screen also, regarding lockscreens, always uncheck lockscreen when applying a theme because they are all HDPI and they will mess up your screen to be unable to unlock, picture related themes have been fixed and working fully, few statusbar icons might show up un-themed due to two different framework files original miui settings have also been added with some miui tweaks available (thanks to andalululu for this too) i also included new Mi FIle Explorer that can be used for editing root files so i deleted Root Explorer, no need for more than one file manager, pic related i have included a link with 50+ lockscreens for ldpi size, you are free to try them all and if have some that are not in the pack, please post for others to enjoy if you want other lockscreen that is hdpi you have to resize it yourself, its not hard at all, resize images and change x,y positions in xml and zip it, job done i only included google play store (market) in this rom since full gapps pack makes rom lag, you can either install needed apps or flash other package via cwm i added V6 SuperCharger script to keep phone speed normal.. however, if rom seems to be slow, please do the following: >open tools folder>terminal emulator >su >sh /system/xbin/V6 < it starts V6 instalation script, hit 0 to show menu fast, hit 2 for aggresive and 16 to reboot above should make more memory free and phone running smooth in rc2.5 update there is a new swap script, to enable swap, do the following steps using terminal emulator: su dd if=/dev/zero of=/sd-ext/swap.file bs=1024 count=102400 mkswap /sd-ext/swap.file you use this code to create swap file on sdcard of size 100mb, you can use any size regarding of your sd-ext size (ie 100*1024=102400, 256*1024=262144 etc) after that you use swapon and swapoff to turn on/off your swap: swapon /sdcard/swap.file swapoff /sdcard/swap.file due to deleted second post i will post download links and changelog here Changelog: ---------- ## Alpha1 - review.cyanogenmod.com/#/c/14802/ Openmax/ hw video decoding will imo never be out for the armv6 Blade. Qualcomm can't put them up on their website, like the adreno drivers, because of the licensing fees. For example h264 requires a license free, so does MP3 and almost all formats besides OGG vorbis and VP8 require licenses. So we'll have to pirate armv6 libs from a OEM ICS device, but chances for ICS on an armv6 devices are just very very small. They aren't announced right now and i seriously doubt they ever will.

If you've been following my antics with the G300, you'll have seen that i've found a couple of security holes and a working root exploit. I've been able to use these to extract the stock images from the device and to build a modified recovery image to flash via fastboot, which means disclosure of the other root method isn't necessary. Which is good, it might be needed later. Strangely, 'fastboot boot' doesn't work on the G300 so the usual superboot approach won't work, so i've created a 'SuperRecovery'. This is a stock recovery image with 2 changes - firstly the ADB access is upgraded to root, secondly the recovery will automatically install Superuser / SU on start (in the same way as a superboot). This means it will give you root while maintaining compatability with stock upgrades applied via the stock recovery. Download and instructions can be found below! APPLY THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK! SuperRecovery r1 - DOWNLOAD (ROMraid) - MD5: 76a8fe61badc3a27fbfde4427ffad965 How to use SuperRecovery - Windows, Linux and OSX - Download the SuperRecovery zip file above and extract to a directory - Put your device in bootloader mode - turn off the phone, pull the battery and USB cable, wait a few seconds, replace the battery then turn on with the 'volume DOWN' button pressed to enter the bootloader. The device will stay at the Huawei logo. - WINDOWS - double click 'install-superrecovery-windows.bat' - MAC - Open a terminal window to the directory containing the files, and type 'chmod +x install-superrecovery-mac.sh' followed by './install-superrecovery-mac.sh' - LINUX - Open a terminal window to the directory containing the files, and type 'chmod +x install-superrecovery-linux.sh' followed by './install-superrecovery-linux.sh' - When prompted, put your device in recovery mode - turn off the phone, pull the battery and USB cable, wait a few seconds, replace the battery then turn on with the 'volume UP' button pressed to enter recovery. When recovery has loaded, you are rooted! Select the reboot option using the power button and you're done! Enjoy! ;) P PS If you find this useful, please consider supporting MoDaCo by signing up for a MoDaCo subscription! Visit this topic for further details!

Hi Twrock, Desalesouche, Pier11 and all, I have installed Onyx ROM on Friday, since I haven finished it seems quite stable it means no green screens, no FCs, camera works nicely even with high quality and top resolution configuration. My conclusion is that definitely is a ROM much more stable than Pier11's which I have tried almost for a month (last march) cause I did like it, triying to sort out all posible combinations and tweaks but eventualy I got defeated. Now with Onyx it seems quite different story and here below my experiences: I have installed the ROM and immediately DarkTremor A2SD 2.7.5.2, after the first boot and after I've restored my contacts I have tried the camera and it got frozen to the point I had to remove the battery to reboot. But I haven't panicked and I continued in my test so after this second foced reboot (in which) I got the unique green screen I started to configure the DT A2SD using some of the tweaks Twrock have suggested for his CM 6.1 version, TXG and Styx. So I went to Terminal and after "su" command I've run "a2sd chachesd" of course my SD is properly formatted. After the command the phone reboots normally without green screen. I did not hurried and I finished with DT just setting the swappiness "a2sd swappy30" and afterwards I have rebooted from terminal typing "reboot". After another normal reboot I went to CM configuration and there move the CPU frequency Max to 614 and Min to 320, cause I have read the bigger CPU range may causes some freezing and FC's. I know I may sacrifying a bit of battery but I don't care if I gain some stability with this ROM. I have check the "Set on boot" option to keep the configuration after any boot. The Compcache and JIT I have leave them both disable. I have set the options "Lock home in memory" and "Lock messaging app in memory". I have rebooted later with Pwr key and option menu. Later I have installed some apps without problems or green screens, I have run several times camera both photos and videos without bugs. For the first time I tried to play a video made by the camera I got a "Cannot play video" but I retried and it was succesful. I have corrected the MAC by using the terminal and typing the code "echo 1a:2b:3c:4d:5e:6f > /data/misc/wifi/softmac" (of course with my MAC) as suggested by Twrock in his Styx thread. I have my WiFi conection nicely even I have not tried speed yet. As Twrock appointed Onyx ROM is quite minimalist but as of today for me is very stable. I missed in this ROM the Android keyboard which in the original version from Pier11 comes with a nice Spanish dictionary (it's my mother language) ;-) , so for Onyx version I had to install the Spanish pack for TouchPal. Thanks to you all for your hard work! I will come again with more details if something arises. Cheers!

Possible bug in Atomicmod R13: I've seen that some applications doesn't show buttons instead they show "blue X". One of the programs where I've found this problem is "AndFTP". Have you experimented this problem? Could it be possible to solve in the next release? Attached screenshoot. Thanks.

This is a mix of ICS source from AOKP project and CM9 Community. basically most of the patches qcom armv6 platform needed has been implement with CM9's , so when I rebuild my KANG upon qcom's ics adreno libs update. I just simply use CM9 to rebase the whole thing up. On 256mb RAM version Personally, I think u should let go to get any ics rom install because u will have many undesired problems because of the low mem restriction (even core system are killed by OOM), if u insisted to do so, pls get a swap partition (128M preferred) by repartioning ur SD card in recovery mode (noted u will lost everything on ur sdcard! get a backup else where before u do so.) 2. Mms issues : Cannot send / receive it is an upstream issue of google source codes, generally it is related to APN settings u may check this thread : http://code.google.c...detail?id=23233 and try some workarounds discussed I am using the same setting like this guy mentioned 3. ( In some extreme cases, u need to change the screen density yet I won't recommend with this solution) Enable the navigation bar control in powermenu with ROM Control. then Press Power button to call up the Power Menu, use the quick button with navigation bar control to enable/disable it , no need to reboot. or create a quick link on desktop with system ui widget known issues: 1. Presenting... the first (released) build of CyanogenMod 7 for the ZTE Crescent! You need a 130MB system partition minimum for this ROM. This ROM is suitable for both the Orange San Francisco II, the T-Mobile Vivacity and the Telenor Touch Plus. It is 75% flibblesan's work, with me only getting Wi-Fi to work and a few extra goodies. Check the second post for known issues and the third for a change log. Sources: Device: github.com/Dazzozo/android_device_zte_blade2/tree/gingerbread Proprietaries: github.com/Dazzozo/proprietary_vendor_zte/tree/gingerbread Kernel: github.com/CyanogenMod/zte-kernel-msm7x27/tree/2.6.35 Instructions:(have some sense and read them) Grab the ROM and Google apps (links below) and stick them on your SD. Vivacity/Touch Plus: Grab the Vivacity/Touch Plus kernel for correct touchscreen support - the one packaged with the ROM is for San Francisco II users. Boot in to Recovery by turning the phone off, and turning it on while holding the volume down key. 'Wipe Data/Factory Reset' 'Install zip from sdcard' -> 'Choose zip from sdcard' -> ROM 'Install zip from sdcard' -> 'Choose zip from sdcard' -> Google apps Vivacity/Touch Plus: 'Install zip from sdcard' -> 'Choose zip from sdcard' -> Kernel Optional: 'Install zip from sdcard' -> 'Choose zip from sdcard' -> Google Talk w/ Video Chat Optional: 'Install zip from sdcard' -> 'Choose zip from sdcard' -> A2SD 'Reboot System Now' Give it time - first boot takes longer than usual. Run through the first time setup, language, date/time, Google account etc. Have fun! If you still have issues (other than those mentioned in the second post), post in the thread. Theres is also another point. The MSM7227 SoC has afaik some unique characteristics regarding the hardware video decoding. Basically its the only Adreno200 SoC which is not a snapdragon

Many devices will be able to source their prop libs from another similar device that did get a ICS update. But read that comment on Gerrit, even the HTC Sensation doesnt have these libs yet. Regarding license fees, Mozilla doesnt include a codec for h264 because of ideological reasons (closed souce, patents etc) and because of an annual fee of 500.000 USD. http://www.osnews.com/story/22787/Mozilla_Explains_Why_it_Doesn_t_License_h264

this should affect many devices, maybe it's time for another petition? I wonder how high the fee is, that such a huge corp like qualcomm can't just DO IT.

Yep. Source code hasn't been released for the official cwm touch recovery (5.8.x.x), so that isn't possible at the moment. There is also another touch recovery project, team win recovery project, that would be interesting to have ported for Blade.

Scanno/the_corvus, Been running 4.0.4 on vega since Saturday nearly everything working (no bluetooth, superuser denies superuser access to requests):- Camera works with beta1 app. Wifi working as before. Accel sensor working. Sound working. Google apps loaded, gmail/youtube/play store working. Voicesearch not working on beta1 now working. Flash working but still stuttering sound. Recovery wont work due to above superuser access issues for me but did you copy over "recovery and setrecovery" files from system/bin dir on beta1 as I think the Recovery Reboot apk needs these ? Still working on resolving issues and need to recheck updates on git to see if I missed anything but nice to have my own compiled kernel + system image working pretty well on my first attempt at a full rom.

tom_g has already been looking at some of the coldfusionx work (and abandoned most of it lol) as someone was submitting our github patches to gerrit, plus i think a lot of the original work was with help from tom_g.

Works like a charm. Have a working AOSP with wifi using the latest commit from corvus. Does anyone have sources from the recovery reboot apk? Does not seem to work for me and also the powermenu. Should we coordinate some stuff or do we work on our own.

the patch It's not included in the last nighlyupdate-cm-7-20120415-NIGHTLY-blade-signed.zip I've tested it last night, and battery drain is not very bad (~25% over night with wifi on) but the old kernel is still better
  31. 1 point
Based on the time I don't think it made it into that previous nightly. It's a case of waiting for the next nightly (though their appearance is a bit random atm) or waiting for someone to compile CM7 with it included. Unfortunately I'm away for a few days so I can't but I will Tuesday or Weds.

the only place i thought i noticed it was in the menu background in rommanager, the black/grey gradiant wasn't 100%, but it wasn't exactly devastating. looks like we're going official (maybe, probably): other thread

yup and proprietary, coldfusionx won't be needed much longer it seems (except crescent/skate i guess) looks like we're going official (hint) just got to get the githubs added to repo i guess. when its possible to build i'll update the instructions for cm9

Paul, can you make the HTC lockscreen available? I dont have my backup at work :( Noticed that incoming calls aren't going to the ICS lockscreen, have to unlock to get the receive/reject dialog. edit - This is for the vanilla ROM :), gonna rebake a version with it, but the prebake should probably have it else people can't answer the phone :(

If the attached file isn't what you're looking for, search for Resco Audio Recorder. It records in WAV and you can easily import it to your computer for speech to text. i8000nxxje1_audionote.cab

its ether stolen or the left over from an insurance clam (rang up and said lost phone, and gets a new one,old one gets black listed) my advice would be to try getting the IMIE number from the seller so you can check its not black listed, i doubt that he would give you it though lol, or even ask him to check... you can check here http://www.numbering...ysis&sub=imeinr also if a phone is blacklisted from the uk. it should still work outside the uk (overseas sales)

Radio as in cellular, bluetooth, wifi, GPS or what's the name of that gimmicky thing that 99% of users don't care about because it's 2012? Right it's FM radio! No it doesn't and it won't in the foreseeable future because you know it's 2012 and people don't care about it.

Most people will use Titanium Backup, You really have to buy the Pro version (£4.49) to get the best out of it though. It will let you backup/restore all user apps+data. You can also have different profiles in it, so if you want to use different roms you can have a different profile for each one to specify the apps you use with each. If you want to backup the whole rom, apps, user data and account settings, basically everything, you can use Clockwork Mod Recovery (Which, hopefully, you've already installed). Just go into backup/restore in the main menu. You can also rename the folder it creates (Just be sure not to use spaces in the folder name!) so you can specify each one, for example, mine are called "CyanogenMod7", "CyanogenMod9" and "AOKP" :) Bear in mind though, CWM won't allow you to restore your apps without installing the whole thing.

Hello, In the last year there has been an increase in the amount of users harassing developers on the forum by asking questions through private messaging instead of in the forum thread. Please DO NOT do this. It is extremely rude and unfair to contact a developer directly and expecting personal 1on1 support. Developers have personal lives away from the forum and this should be respected. If you have any questions then ask them in the relevant forum thread. If you do not receive an answer straight away then wait. Sometimes it may take more than 24 hours for somebody to reply to you. If you do not find the answer you are looking for or do not get a reply then try re-wording your question giving as much information as possible. Logs are useful, screenshots are useful. Any members that have been pestering developers by requesting help directly using PM will be reminded not to do this. If members carry on then warnings will be given. These forums are a community and by asking questions openly you are helping other members. Asking questions privately is rude and inconsiderate to developers, and not fair on the rest of the community.
