A few days ago at IFA Samsung showed off the Galaxy Note 10.1 2014. One of the most interesting apps demonstrated on the device was a new tablet-optimised version of Twitter. Most Android tablet owners will be aware that the current version of Twitter for Android doesn't provide a good experience on tablets and have been waiting for a better experience for some time. Twitter look set to finally release an update that will give tablet owners exactly what they have been waiting for.
In portrait mode you won't notice too many differences but use the app in landscape mode and tweets open up in the right hand side of the screen give you a better view & experience. One of the other big changes is inline media display which other clients have offered for some time now.
Thankfully, the guys over at Android Next managed to extract the application from a demonstration device! We have tested it ourselves and it is the real deal and works pretty well. The version number reported is 4.1.1 which is a little older than the current version of Twitter for Android, so if you are replacing your current version with this tablet version then you will need to clear data & cache before installing.
Give it a try and let us know what you think!
