The genuine covers for the Nexus 10 have finally arrived on the Play Store. Late and overpriced... why, Google?
It's not just the Nexus 10 that has suffered... Some Galaxy Nexus accessories never even appeared, the Nexus 4 bumper has been in and out of stock (more out than in) ever since launch, the Nexus 7 dock took for ever to arrived, the Nexus 7 cases were late and there's still no officially accessory to do anything with the pogo pins on the Nexus 10. Oh yes, and there's no wireless charging orb for the Nexus 4 in the UK. What gives?
It's not just timing and availability either. What about pricing? Here's some examples (note that combined items may reduce the cost of delivery)...
- Nexus 4 wired headset with microphone - £15.99 + £5.99 = £21.98
- Nexus 4 bumper - £15.99 + £5.99 = £21.98
- Nexus 4 power adapter - £12.99 + £5.99 = £18.98
- Nexus 4 microUSB cable - £9.99 + £5.99 = £15.98
Yup, really, £15.98 for a MICRO USB CABLE!
The Nexus 7 situation isn't much better...
[*]Nexus 10 cover - £24.99 + £5.99 = £30.98
Now, I don't know what the folks at Google are smoking - maybe it's a way to make a bit of money after selling the devices so cheaply, or maybe it's a commendable effort to support the third party accessory market - but it's ridiculous and incredibly frustrating for Nexus owners.
Thoughts? Sort it out Google!
