MWC 2014: HTC Desire 816 hands on

After announcing the Desire 816 earlier this week at MWC, the details of which can be found in our coverage of the HTC event, we finally had a chance to go hands on with HTC's exciting new mid-range flagship device.

The 816 is no shrinking violet with its capacious 5.5" screen wrapped up in a generously proportioned body. That screen is rather delicious as most HTC displays are despite a relatively lesser 720p resolution. Thankfully, HTC have kept the 816 pretty slim and it has all the usual build qualities you would expect with precision machining for the Boomsound speakers.

Whilst we wait to get our hands on the final version of the Desire 816, we managed to have a play with this pre-release version and came away suitably impressed. You can have a look at our hands-on below but we were not able to do a software tour due to the early build that was on this device. What we can say is that it felt pretty speedy.

A non-functional "hands on" demo unit? As much use as a rubber ladder. This "hands on" is meaningless; come back when it's working - then show us.

Not non-functional, we were able to check out the performance but not on camera. Besides, a hands on of the hardware is also relevant.
