Windows Live Messenger is being retired

On 15th March 2013, Microsoft are retiring the existing Messenger service globally (except for mainland China where Messenger will continue to be available) and bringing the great features of Messenger and Skype together.
Update to Skype and sign in using a Microsoft Account (same as your Messenger ID) and all your Messenger contacts will be at your fingertips.
This all sounds brilliant, until you pick up your Lumia 610, go to the Windows Phone Marketplace and read the following:
Now, to be honest, WindowsPhone have admitted on the Marketplace, that this is only a preview release and that experiences are not yet final.
But I don't understand where they got the idea that only Mainland China sells devices with less than 512MB RAM. We will find out in two months whether the Lumia 610 will lose an important part of it's operating system.
Anyone else that might be affected, let us know in the comments below.
