No, I don't know nearly enough to suggest these things. Notice that ended all that in a question mark - I have no clue. I don't even know if cores matter when it comes to phones. So it was more of an inquisitive statement to get your opinion - if they can get the job done despite the inferior quality :P
Thanks a lot for the detailed explanation. So very generally it's a sacrifice of customizability for preformance at low price. And lower quality in general - but at these prices does it really matter? Im planning to give it a go and see how bad those really are :D
KonstaT can I ask you, completely off-topic, if you have an opinion on the Doogee brand of chinese phones. They seem to have great specs at a very affordable price and a cyanogenmod port for them would be interesting if at all possible. Just to get your thoughts on that would be cool, thanks!
@KonstaT - Yeah, my bad it seems that the issue was because my SD card wasnt mounted. I couldn't replicate any of the errors after that.
The log I posted didnt have anything to do with this though. I was just testing if I set up Logcat through adb right so I can try to get the elusive media.process error. Which I have to admit I haven't encountered yet. I'll be flashing your newest version soon and see how it behaves.
Probably not the greatest issue on earth but I still wanted to report this. On a fresh install - if you go to Language and Input and then keyboard settings - import dictionary file = Unfortunately, AOSP has stopped. Apollo crashes as well. But I'll try to post a logcat later on.
EDIT: of course as soon as I set up adb logcat the errors cant happen again. I'm attaching the startup logcat I managed to get with ADB logcat
- please tell me if this logcatting method will do so I can dedicate some time on hunting the media.process thing. The log has some errors but I cant make anything of them :P
Ah dammit. I was so sure I nailed it this time! I will certainly try again. I do remember that I did get the error when I fresh installed as well. But the message popped just once I believe. I already saw a thread on xda on how to logcat with ADB, so I might do this insane test of having the device under the radar for a few hours this weekend.
As i'm totally new to this- I wanted to ask if there's any point in reporting the yellow-coded logcat messages? They do seem like warnings or light errors - just for the sake of maybe improving the rom.
I have finally managed to logcat the elusive android.media.process error message spam. My phone was working OK when I got a random restart. After that all hell broke loose and it started spamming me that media error. I quickly managed to turn logcat on and record several instances of the error. One of them was easily reproducible by starting the Apollo player from the widget.
I hope these logs shed some light. After I did a regular restart though it fixed itself. I hope u find this useful KonstaT and keep up the good work :D Log_2014-01-27_09-28-34.txt Log_2014-01-24_23-39-09.txt
Happy holidays everyone! And special thanks to KonstaT for this wonderful port. I hope your talent and dedication get noticed where it counts sooner!
Now I'd like to report a few things which bother me but keep in mind I'm really new to this custom roms scene so don't kill me right away ;)
1.There's a very annoying issue with 3G internet. Most noticeable while listening to music with Apollo or playing a game like Robot Unicorn Attack 2 (dont judge me ;D). Basically what happens is - while data usage is on at a random interval the music or gameplay freezes for a part of a second and everything stops then carries on.
The intervals aren't small though but I had a chance to test it while listening to music today for about 2 hours and having my 3g on - for viber and other stuff. The interrupts weren't caused by app notifications, not sure whats the issue. While playing the game it visually does freezes for a part of a second and goes on. I'm assuming its the 3G because when it's OFF i do not get this slow down or hiccup in-game.
Anyone else noticed this or is it just me?
2.This isn't so much of an issue as a question - after a fresh install on the 3rd screen there's this My Library widget which does nothing. Tapping it's upper-right corner gives me an "app not installed" message. Did I mess something up?
3.Sound on my ZTE Blade 3 has always been horrible. Very quiet and unsatisfactory - but when you boost the bass and other options through the DPS Manager it becomes crackling, hissing and it just does nothing to improve it.
However I accidentally stumbled upon an app that ports sony's xloud to virtually any phone. Ours was not in the tested list but I went ahead and installed it anyway. The difference has been astounding - I can crank up all dsp settings to the extreme and all volumes to the max - and with headphones and speaker there's no hissing, cracking, distortion or anything. Well it doesn't make it much louder but for me it was a significant improvement. I have no idea if I'm allowed to post a link to this xloud port here - so just google it in the store. It's russian made.
The question here is - if others have similar sound issues and if they care to try and test it themselves - would KonstaT consider integrating this port in the future versions of this rom? As I believe it really improves things in that aspect.
Thanks for the attention everyone and thank you KonstaT for all your work!
PS: I have also gotten "android.process.media has stopped" a few times without touching any settings myself related to ART but haven't gotten it for a while. I'll keep an eye and report if I find a way to reproduce it.
Hi and thanks a lot for the reply! Sorry for responding so late but I had dropped the issue since I couldn't fix it. I believe the problem was that my sdcard was just 2gb and CM didn't like that much. I've read something about fat32 and under 2gb being a problem so I just switched the card with a 4gb one from my camera and everything worked like a charm.
I'll keep your advice in mind for the future! Thanks again
Im not sure what you mean - I don't have the fat32 option in the CWM menu - and unfortunately I don't have an alternative method of connecting my Sdcard to my PC to format it. I will try with a different SDcard tonight. In the meantime if there's anything I can do within the phone to solve this - please let me know. Thanks!
I have encountered an issue with my external sdcard which I can't find being discussed here. (or I didn't realize it was that same issue). I did my first ever custom rom flashing - so I made sure everything goes properly. I rooted, did formats, factory resets, wipes etc. Then installed this sweet rom here and was blown away how cool everything looks and how smooth it works.
However I didn't notice that my external SDcard is not mounted. When I went to storage option through the phone and clicked on MountSD - i got an error - Blank SDcard - not formatted or unsupported format. I said alright - I dont have anything important anyway - so went ahead and clicked Format. However nothing happened - I got some weird loop of this Blank SDcard error and was presented with the option to Format it a few more times - and when it worked it said - You can now safely remove your SDcard.
Puzzled I decided to go to CWM and format there. It said: Idle-Unformatted. No matter which option I chose (default, exfat etc) I got the same error message:
Could not format storage/sdcard0.
If i try to mount it I get the same error.
Erorr mounting storage/sdcard0!
Trying to browse the phone with an usb cable doesnt work - I don't see neither the internal nor the external memory drives when the phone connects. And yes I have the usb debug turned on and everything.
