  1. Coolpad F1 8297w

Would anyone be so kind as to give their impressions of the device? A lot of people seem to have it but not many are yet commenting on the device itself. I'm strongly considering getting one of these to replace my battered Vowney V5 so any opinions would be really helpful.
  2. Seems the G4S does, well maybe - there is a lot of conflicting info but quite a few sites say it has e.g. http://www.jiayu-store.com/jiayu-g4-mtk6592-octa-core-4-7-inch-ips-screen-dual-camera-android-smart-phone.html | http://www.jiayuofficial.com/jiayu-g4-mtk6589-android-4-2-quad-core-2gb-ram-32gb-rom-4-7-inch-hd-ips-retina-screen-13mp-camera-gyroscope-basic-smart-mobile-phone-black.html I put together a comparison of phones similar to the Coolpad F1 around £120 if anyone's interested.. All have 2GB RAM and IPS OGS displays. Haipai X3S - £126 For Metal casing 6.9mm thin Against Small 2000mah battery No Gorilla glass No Sony cam JIAYU G4S - £119 For Gorilla Glass Sony Cam Large 3000mah battery Against Comparatively thick at 10mm Plastic body THL T11 - £126 For Gorilla Glass Large 2750mah battery Against Plastic body No Sony Cam Coolpad F1 - £115 For Gorilla Glass Decent 2500mah battery Sony Cam Against Plastic body Comparatively small 8GB internal memory Comparatively thick at 9.3mm
  3. Coolpad F1 8297w

I'm also looking to upgrade from the Vowney V5 which has been a trusty mobile for a good year, depsite being severly cracked in the face.. Anyway, like many others the Coolpad F1 is on my short list as it looks to have a great spec. Its a shame to hear the ROM currently lets it down but that can be fixed at least. So any more hands-on reports of this one? I'm particularly interested in how the camera stacks up, especially against the quite poor cam on the V5. Also, If anyone is looking for decent alternatives around the £120 mark I've short-listed these ones, just trying to decide if the Coolpad F1 is the better option hmm.. All have 2GB and IPS OGS Displays. Haipai X3S - £126 For Metal casing 6.9mm thin Against Small 2000mah battery No Gorilla glass No Sony cam JIAYU G4S - £119 For Gorilla Glass Sony Cam Large 3000mah battery Against Comparatively thick at 10mm Plastic body THL T11 - £126 For Gorilla Glass Large 2750mah battery Against Plastic body No Sony Cam Coolpad F1 - £115 For Gorilla Glass Decent 2500mah battery Sony Cam Against Plastic body Comparatively small 8GB internal memory Comparatively thick at 9.3mm Would be good to get your opinions on how these stack up to the F1? I'm personally moving towards the G4S which is very similiar to the F1 but larger battery, storage and better brand arguably.
  4. That's strange, maybe a stupid question but did you give mobileuncle root permission? Once in CWM for the first time have you tried installing a custom rom with CWM installed? I'm sure that would work and is what I did but I also thought CWM stayed regardless.
  5. Thanks for the guide tillaz. I'm hope you don't mind but I thought I'd post an alternative method, which I found a little easier as a noob! ROOT Download the 6589 rooter http://d-h.st/H62 Follow this guide if you need ADB Drivers: http://droidchina.co...er-on-Windows-7 Unzip 6589 Rooter Check USB Debugging under System settings >Developer Options > Debugging Plug in phone Click run.bat in the mt6589_rooter folder Follow the on-screen instructions CWM Install Mobileuncle tools from Play market Put this recovery.img on your sd card: http://www.speedysha...sR/recovery.img Open Mobileuncle and give superuser permissions Go Recovery update and click recovery.img listed under 'Recovery file in SDcard' Click OK to the pop-up then OK again to the next pop-up You should reboot in to CWM where you can flash a custom rom

  9. Vodafone UK issue

Thanks Tillaz, I tried them but no luck not even a g? Is there something obvious to setting the new apn as the enabled one? I've checked the engineering settings and it shows both 900 mhz and 2100 mhz are enabled some I'm stumped.
  10. Vodafone UK issue

Hi there, Is anyone else having issues getting the internet to work on this?? I tried a T-Mobile sim and it worked straight away with internet but when I try my Vodafone sim I get nothing, any ideas? It looks like they use the same frequency for 3G so I guess it's something to with the APN settings but having no luck :/ Any help much appreciated.
  11. I think this fits the thread title more accuratly :)
  12. Defend your UI

I use VITO 'Winterface' I have used most others and personally, I find this to be by far the best. - Completly customisable - FAST - Looks good - Very nice task manager Heres a good impression of the UI: I never hear anyone talk about this UI and I still do not understand why!
  13. Wow thanks for that landslot - very much appreciated! What sound and frameskip settings did you use?
  14. That would be awsome! Thanks. Would you mind trying Mario kart, Super Metroid and Starfox if possible? Cheers your the man!
  15. Ahh so it works in Landscape, just not with onscreen controls! Would you be able to test the performance with these settings: Landscape Full screen Full sound ?? I'd really appreciate it.
