  1. Hi all, Just picked up a play for £129.95 from Phone 4 U to replace my old Pulse :) However really want to use chomp sms on it. It works fine, but I can't find a setting to disable the notification that you have X new messages when you first wake the phone before unlocking the screen with a swipe. If I go into the "apps launcher" (or whatever that is called!) the stock Message icon has a bubble with the number of unread messages in it. I guess the two are linked. This is despite having read the"unread" SMS using Chomp. Obviously I've disabled notification from the stock message app settings. Can't see anything else to do, so wondered if I've missed something. Or whether the stock app has been Sony'd. Its not the end of the world. It mildly annoying. Thanks in advance.
  2. Official UK 2.1 version back online!

i had the same issue as cyberbeastie (2.1 old -> 2.1 new). But I resolved it by performing a reset to defaults (so I upgraded to new 2.1, saw the issues, then went to settings->privacy->factory reset). All was well after.
  3. So is there any news on an official T-Mob 2.1 re-release? I'm running the old 2.1 and to be honest I'm in two minds about binning it or downgrading to the December update. The 2.1. missed text message bug makes the phone practically unusable.
  4. Unlocked Pulse - will T Mobile fix it?

I didn't (or rather couldn't) even flash my unlocked phone back to stock before sending back for repair. They still did. One thing though, they had to replace my main board = new IMEI = no longer unlocked. Unfortunately I couldn't get the repaired phone unlocked again as it wasn't in the unlockers database. Ended up buying a turbo SIM.
  5. So will the £12 quidco go through even though I also used the £21 "phone fund" at the same time? If so - result!
  6. Thanks fr the review, that's the Mrs birthday present sorted out - at this price if she doesn't like it its not a HTC Desire sized dent in the pocket - and I get to change my pulse
  7. Broken USB port

Why are they charging you? Are you out of guarantee? They did mine free of charge as I was within 12 months, and this was with the custom ROM on it :D
  8. Unlock your Pulse for $19.99 (~£14)

Just had this exact same problem today, didn't see this post until afterwards. I'll try a sim attachment and report back when it arrives.
  9. USB charge issue AGAIN

    Thanks nxsfan
  10. USB charge issue AGAIN

My USB connector disappeared inside my phone today. This may explain the poor battery life I was getting if was moving around shorting something. So anyway, does anyone know if T-Mobile check whether you have the official ROM on the phone before repairing it. As I am running 1.7 and have unlocked the phone. I have no way of restoring the december update given the battery isdead. sob.
  11. O2 MMS problems

Good point, the apns-conf.xml file I posted is for 3. There are a number of posts in this thread with modified "apns-conf.xml" for various other PAYG and contract providers (Orange, Voda and O2). The procedure is the same for all of them, just make sure you get the right apns-conf.xml for your provider instead of the one I posted (you'll have to read back a few pages in the thread). edit: From what I can see, not tested any myself. http://android.modaco.com/index.php?act=at...st&id=46694 (voadphone, contract?) <apn carrier="Vodafone Hidden UK MMS" mcc="234" mnc="30" apn="wap.vodafone.co.uk" user="wap" password="wap" mmsc="http://mms.vodafone.co.uk/servlets/mms" mmsproxy="" mmsport="8799" /> http://android.modaco.com/index.php?act=at...st&id=46768 (orange) <apn carrier="Orange Hidden UK MMS" mcc="234" mnc="30" apn="orangemms" user="Orange" password="Multimedia" mmsc="http://mms.orange.co.uk/" mmsproxy="" mmsport="8080" /> http://android.modaco.com/index.php?act=at...st&id=46792 (O2 payg) <apn carrier="o2 Hidden UK MMS PAYG" apn="payandgo.o2.co.uk" user="vertigo" password="password" mmsc="http://mmsc.mms.o2.co.uk" mmsproxy="" port="8080" mcc="234" mnc="30" /> http://android.modaco.com/index.php?act=at...st&id=46357 (o2 contract) <apn carrier="o2 Hidden MMS" mcc="234" mnc="30" apn="wap.o2.co.uk" proxy="" port="8080" user="o2wap" password="password" mmsc="http://mmsc.mms.o2.co.uk:8002" mmsproxy="" mmsport="8080"/> Have a look in the file and check the last mms entry in the file matches your providers settings (I've cut and paste them below the file links). Ignore the mcc and mnc values. As I said, Starkos et al deserve the credit for working everything out. I merely collated the info. -------------------------- If anyone has a better (free) way of getting the apns-conf.xml onto the pulse please post it here. Also interested to know if "rooting" the phone is a necessary step too.
  12. Will android 2 run like turd?

It'll be released they day after 3.1 comes out, obviously ;)
  13. Absolutely no paid apps, or no protected paid apps? I couldn't see protected paid apps with the (rooted) stock ROM, I ended up re-flashing to a custom ROM and I now see the app I couldn't before (and so presumably I see all the protected paid apps now): http://android.modaco.com/content/t-mobile...e-rom-to-blame/ If that's the same issue, maybe there is a way to 'hack' the stock ROM rather than reflash to custom. I didn't investigate too much.
  14. Settings for a '3' simcard on pulse

    Glad it works!
  15. Changing Ringtones?

if you play the ringtone in the music player, press the menu key, the select "more" you can set the file as a ringtone. Not sure this helps with the notification tones mind! The app sounds the way to go.
