  1. Ok, so i've got the UPDATE.APP and the extractor tool. I've extracted 28 IMG files, including "12.recovery.img". And now I'm confused. What now? I think I need to make a flashable zip out of some of these files, but which ones? Only "12.recovery.img"? How do I convert them into the zip file format for flashing?
  2. Thanks! Didn't know about this "Huawei update extractor" tool. Will try it.
  3. Problem is your data can still be recovered even after factory reset. See this: https://www.cnet.com/news/android-phone-wiping-fails-to-delete-personal-data/ ""Users thought they were doing a clean wipe and factory reinstall," he said, but the factory reinstall is cleaning phones "only at the application layer.""
  4. Hi, not sure if there are any G300 users still around, but if there are.... I want to encrypt and factory reset my G300 before selling it. But it doesn't work with my current rom, Slim ICS. (I just get the green Android man image and nothing else happens). I thought that maybe the encryption functionality will only work with stock/Vodafone UK rom. So I want to move from Slim ICS to Stock/Vodafone UK. Following these instructions: http://huaweig300.com/huawei-g300-install-a-custom-jelly-bean-ics-rom-from-scratch/install-the-custom-rom/ tells me I need the file "recovery-flash-b952.zip" - which unfortunately doesnt exist anymore. What can I do? My end goal is to leave the phone wiped of my data and on ICS before selling it. All guides say that you should encrypt the phone before doing a factory reset to wipe your data. Are there any other roms with working encryption? Or is there any way to get hold of the "recovery-flash-b952.zip" file? Any help appreciated, thanks!
  5. i've got a xiaomi piston 3 headphone with 3 button: vol up, vol down, and play/pause. only play/pause works (on my ICS slim). the phone doesnt recognise the button presses for volup/voldown. according to the specs its fully android compatible. can the g300 not handle 3-button microphones? something to do with the number of pins in the headphone jack?
  6. [ROM][ICS-B952]Slim ROM

is Slim ICS supposed to include a sound recorder? it doesnt seem to have one? if not, is there any way to get the huawei stock B952 sound recorder? (i tried flashing the one in the "stock apps/mods for G300" thread http://www.modaco.com/topic/362662-stock-appsmods-for-the-g300/ but it doesn't install anything). EDIT: found sound recorder! its in the "guide-upgrade-and-downgrade-the-g300-between-gb-ics-and-jb-with-downloads" thread http://www.modaco.com/topic/356806-guide-upgrade-and-downgrade-the-g300-between-gb-ics-and-jb-with-downloads/ BUT THIS PROBLEM REMAINS: similarly, there was a "Downloads" app on huawei stock B952 which is missing in Slim ICS, any way to get that back?
  7. i'm on G300 U8815 ICS stock B952. i have my app drawer (not homescreen!) icons carefully arranged in a certain order, across certain pages. when i restart the phone, this ordering is lost, and i have to manually rejig everything again. there doesn't seem to be any way to "save" the ordering. i assume this is a problem with a slow external SD card, because whenever i plug it in via USB to a PC, this also happens (along with alarm clock ringtone being lost, music playlists being lost, and message and ringtones being reset). are there any workarounds for this problem (that don't involve buying a new SD card)? some app to "save" the app drawer icon ordering when requested (and restore it back when requested) would probably be enough? or are there any ROMs (or launchers) that wouldn't suffer from this problem?
  8. is v6.0.4.5 only for phones with kitkat already installed? if so, which is the latest CWM for my rom (stock ICS b952)?
  9. hi, just a few very basic questions about what this CWM recovery option actually does, i.e.: - if you've unlocked the bootloader (officially), does it lock it again? - if you've rooted, does it unroot? - if you've sim-unlocked, does it sim-lock? thanks!
  10. this is the file size reported by right-clicking the exe (downloaded multiple times to make sure its not corrupt): Size: 91.5 KB (93,733 bytes) Size on disk: 92.0 KB (94,208 bytes) i'm on win7 SP1 64bit. i'm also attaching it here (zipped up). RootG300.zip does it seem corrupt? (i've actually rooted ok now using the other method explained in the "How to root your Huawei Ascend G300 (for Windows, Mac and Linux) " thread, so this is just for the sake of understanding what has gone wrong).
  11. hi, i'm having problems running RootG300.exe (to re-root after upgrading from GB to ICS). when i launch the executable i get: "the version of this file is not compatible with the version of windows you're running. Check your computer's system information to see whether you need an x86 (32-bit) or x64 (64-bit) version of the program, and then contact the software publisher." i'm on windows 7 64-bit. i searched but didnt see anybody else having this particular problem, strangely. i'm downloading from here: http://huaweig300.com/downloads/g300-root-windows/RootG300.exe is there a 64 bit version i should be using?
  12. this doesnt work for me? i am on stock vodafone gingerbread (rooted) U8815. when i enter the code in the dial pad i get nothing (it just clears itself).
  13. if you mean this thread http://forum.vodafone.co.uk/t5/Huawei/Predictive-text-not-learning-user-words-Huawei-Ascend-G300/m-p/1508770#M2262 that gives no official explanation about *why* the update has been removed (only some users speculating). and as per this thread http://forum.vodafone.co.uk/t5/Huawei/Huawei-G300-quot-No-updates-available-quot-looking-for-ICS/td-p/1519414 nobody at vodafone has any idea what happened or why....
  14. where did you hear there were a lot of bricked phones? (its true the OTA ICS update has mysteriously disappeared though).
