Wasn’t sure where to post this but I’d imagine this is as good a place as any. Was having a think last night; my contract is due to expire on 9 January so I was going to call on 9 December to cancel. Then I got to thinking; if I’m looking to bargain a good upgrade, am I better doing it over the phone or instore? I was thinking of upgrading to the Touch HD (though as I’m with Tmob that’s a no go) or the G1 I was wondering if I’m likely to get a better deal because I’ve been a customer for 12 months or would I more likely be better going through a new contract altogether? What do you think? Do you find the people instore are more likely to care and try to help or am I better off bargaining to the voice?? Appreciate any comments |

I’ve still got 6 months left in my tmob contract for the Kaiser….am tempted to get this anyway with the £150 cash back as that would effectively give me 5 months for free. But then I’d be locked into another contract for another 13 months and no doubt there will be bigger and better phones out………. Decisions, decisions…… argh!! |

Just thought I'd give thi thread a bump by saying I just indtalled the WM6 'select what to do' cab, and it works! Can't tell you how happy I am. This was my biggest bugbear with my old 3100, and having it solved and learning that jbed supports copy paste makes OM4 THE browser! I started using this the other day and am very impressed so far, just can't understand why IE or the proper Opera can't seem to compete! Anyway, I had it running via the instructions on a different topic (installing mortscript, copying script across, etc) and had it working as the default no problem. I like the idea of the selection box though when using the cab, clicking on a link and selecting 'open in opera mini'; it opens opera up but doesn't copy the link across like it usally does. Just stops on "www." "go to.." whereas usually it will copy the address in. I've uninstalled your cab, reinstalled mortscript and the old script and is working fine again but I don't get that selection box. Any ideas what it could be? I'm using a MDA Vario III (Kaiser - Loose track of all the different names!!) if that makes a difference? |

Hi guys, I recently discovered opera mini (which is amazing by the way!) and decided to start looking into other Java things I could run, such as games and whatnot. Now the Jbed Java that I have will run the games just fine though it refuses to play sound. Is there some kind of longstanding issue surrounding Java not playing sound on ppc as I can't seem to find any such issue via google or this site? Any suggestions? |

Thanks for the reply. Can I ask what ROM you had as you default? Are the carrier settings stored in the SIM card? I am just fearing that this ROM may not automatically setup(the phone). With my Tilt ROM, I never had any crashes. It would very occationally lock up, but I attributed that to me having too many applications open(TomTom, Live Search, Contacts, email, etc...). I have had it on the shipped ROM since I bought it and although I don't like the idea of re-loading all of my apps, it time to either do the tilt ROM upgrade without the extra apps(bloat), or this ROM... What say ye? I had tmobile rom. Same thing happened to me as it did shadowfixeruk, upon boot it automatically detected tmob and updated all my settings automatically. Everything is working fine and like I said, locks up far less often. |

Well i quite like it and have not had many problems (far less infact than I had with the default rom!). The only real problem I seem to be getting is Dashwire throwing error messages at me and refusing to work, not sure if thats a rom issue or not though. As for my gmail, set the account up with auto settings and all is working fine. Also have my google calendar synced through Goosync and thats functioning fine too. Overall, Im very pleased and would recommend the rom, stil get those annoying random crashes but is happening far less often than it used too. |

I finally got fed up of the constant crashes and my alarm not going off as a result so decided to hard reset and flash. Am impressed what I’ve seen so far and haven’t had any problems whatsoever. Am still getting those damn crashes though, maybe its SPB Pocket Plus or something cus I use the generic alarm. Need to invest in an alarm clock I think, gutted. |

You subscribe to it through the t-mobile internet on your phone. Click the link for TV and go from there. Quality is pretty crap though and sound is barely audible unless you have an headset, or turn the phone around (though that makes watching the program nigh on impossible!). I'd save your money to be honest. |

I've been trying to get this working and have come stuck. I have my comp connected to my ppc via Hamachi though it won't let me browse, saying the 'directory' does not exist! It will let me pm the phone and vice versa. I have a dynamic ip though am using no-ip.com to configure the HFS I use for me and my friends. Could that be a problem? Hopefully someone can still help!! |

Not sure if anyone can help but I recently came across Logmein which I,ve been playing around with ever since. I then noticed Logmein Hamachi and have been trying to figure out exactly what it is. Now I,ve found alot of info; about VPN,s, tunneling etc. I have no idea what that means or what you're able to do with the free or even premium system. Anyone care to try to explain? |

I've used it on Web n Walk (£7.50) and text documents are fine can’t remember what success I had with music though I know videos didn’t work on it. You can use it with the normal web n walk though tmobile limits you to 1Gb a month so aslong as you don’t go over this then that should be fine. If you want to get the most out of it though you need wireless. I have 4 or 5 different wireless networks I get to use so that’s always good. |

Hey all, I was wondering if there is any software that offers real-time (downloaded through GPRS) traffic information for selected areas? In my case ‘Birmingham – UK’? I’m trying to find one with a today screen plug-in though but so far I’ve found zero………. Any ideas? |

Had a look at the exchange server option though don't want to be paying to access work stuff. Will keep on at them and maybe go through the higher ups if I still have no luck. |

Hi guys, my question is pretty much in the title. I'm using a Vario III to access the sky tv entertainment package though the volume is awfully quiet and there is no option to configure an equalizer to get the volume higher. The phone volume itself is on maximum and playing music through Media Player is more than loud enough. any ideas if i can configure the stream to go through media plaer where I can have more of an input on the sound its going to produce? |

Well I suppose that would work, though its not really as beneficial as a direct link into outlook. Maybe I'll just keep on at them until they give in |

I use it too, its really good though obviously needs a good connection. I've had it running on my Vario III with wireless connection. You obviously lose quality on video as it is streamed but its still brilliant considering its free! Music is ace too, as well as documents - the latter of which connection isn't all that important providing you're willing to wait. |

Not quite sure what I’m hoping to get out of this but thought best to ask and see what the wisdom of the Modaco community can suggest (flattery gets you everywhere!) I’m having a few problems at work concerning my calendar. I run Microsoft Outlook and am constantly out the office and needing to check my diary. The problem is our IT team is refusing to install activesync for me so that I can sync my vario III up. I’m having to carry a paper diary which I often forget and leads to me booking meetings when I really shouldn’t have. I was wondering if there is anyway that you can export a calendar? Perhaps to an email so that I can mail it to my hotmail and thus to my phone. I’m really not interested in getting work emails on the go (I try to avoid them anyway) but could really do with a mobile calendar situation. I know I could use the device and my home computers outlook as the calendar but that’s not particularly helpful as colleagues need to be able to access my calendar to book or unbook appointments. Also, in doing so I’d have problems with constantly updating both computers and remembering which one is most up to date. I’m sure you can see the predicament, I’m not even sure if there is a suitable way around it. Any suggestions or ideas?? |

I should be getting it tomorrow so will let it install and do the debrand. Was just worried I'd get that weird task bar that stretches across the bottom of the screen like I did with my MDA. Thanks for all the help. |

Just got it on MDA Touch using T-Mobile. My questions is I used the Windows Live to get hotmail email integrated into the messaging app. Does this get affected? I dont use instant messaging when I am out and about, but I do have a license for IM plus, so I wonder if this will work. Outreageous. I'd be quite interested to know this too, I've got my Vario III coming tomorrow and I was looking forward to finally being able to use push email for free with Hotmail. Paul said earlier that it only seems to come up with Messenger, I never use messenger so would the push hotmail be affected? I may have to go with gmail and emoze if so. Good times! |

Thanks for that information! It certainly makes for an interesting read! I read through and the site I was trying to recall was not on there. I did some more googling though and managed to find it. The program is something called 'Orb' and allows you to access your files from whereever you are (providing you're connected to the net - and I think your pc has to be on....) by logging into the website and streaming them directly to your device. I used this on my old Imate SP5 and it seemed to work fine, not the best connection at the time though will see how it goes when my Vario 3 comes through. Thanks once again though, atleast I now know what other options are out there. |

Hi guys, I should be getting the Vario 3 next week and wondered if you could advise on if its worth letting the tmob customisations run or to reboot it as they go to? I let them install on my MDA Compact 3 and got this stupid task bar at the bottom that I just can't seem to get rid of. Is it pretty much the same thing? Also - a little off the topic for this but I haven't updated my PDA for quite some time as from what I understand you need to hard reset it. Is there any software that can return the phone to how it was before the reset when you update? Hope that makes sense! |

I used to have an account on a website where you installed software to your pc, and providing you had it switched on and running you could access the pcs content (files, folders, etc) from anywhere by logging into their site. I'll be getting the Vario III soon and wanted to get it back up and running but for the life of me I can't remember what it was. Any ideas? |
