The Windows Mobile version is the same as in the original HTC ROM (AKU 2.3).

I was hoping for AKU 3 since it took so long to release this update (compared to the Dopod and i-mate versions). Maybe in the next update...

Yes, mine did this after turning it off and on for the first time.
But that has been the only time so far during the 2 weeks I have had it.

Apparently it's downloadable for Windows CE 5 platform builders.
I guess there will be an AKU update for Windows Mobile 5 with CF2 included.

According to Qtek's minimal information the update includes:
* AKU 2.6 (sort of a service pack for the OS)
* Support for Telia's *140# service
* GSM radio

When using Swedish settings, the word for "Configurations" in the Start menu has been translated to a word thats not in Swedish! :shock:

I've also noticed that when using a profile with vibrating on a new icon is displayed that looks like a vibrating Pocket PC. The speaker with the cross is no logner displayed when using the silent profile. I wonder if this is meant to be this way since the latest emulators of Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition and Windows Mobile 5.0 does not behave like this.

I noticed that it displays the files in the order found on the card. So if I copy files one by one in the order I prefer the list is ok.

This problem is one of the reasons why I am waiting for an upgrade to version 10.

A comparison with Pocket PC:
An old Compaq iPAQ H36xx at work has dust, but several iPAQ H39xx have none. I believe that HTC has manufactured both models, so they should have some experience in the dust problem...

My Qtek 8010 has some dust... :-(

This is something many Typhoon owners now wish was already in Windows Mobile 2003 SE so that Windows Media Player 10 Mobile could be easily downloaded and installed!

The screen dump seems to be a resized dump from a QVGA (240x320) version of the OS.

AKU = Adaptation Kit Update

It's like a Service Pack that includes fixes and sometimes new features (like WMP10 Mobile). However Microsoft only provides this to the manufacturers who then needs to customize it and release it as an update to the end users. This usually takes some time. Some manufacturers might even ignore the updates.

Apparently Microsoft will be able to release OS updates directly to the end users in the next version of Windows Mobile.

It's also great for Qtek 8010 owners who bought their device through the operator Telia and then updated the ROM from Qtek.

Telia has added branding, settings and ClearVue applications.
All customizations from Telia are removed when updating. This was not even mentioned in the update information. It has been added later.

I haven't argued about the best MP3 player. iPod is most likely better. But I don't care about that. WMP10 is a media player.
I don't think all of us who are waiting for an update to WMP10 Mobile needs to be reminded that the iPod is a better MP3 player.

We are waiting for an updated media player that works on our phone.

Please read about the new features the new version has and then try to understand why we want it. It's not just an MP3 player...

at the time that they ship the device, when they, Orange, or any other oprator decides to ship another version of that phone, or update the software for whatever reason they from the business perspective, then that they have a chocicee to include those newer things. It just depends on where their device is launched in the cycle of new software.

Windows Media Player 9 on the Smartphone is hard to use when having many MP3 albums on a memory card. There is no support for playlists, a library or even folder browsing. All songs are in one long user unfriendly list!

I've tried BetaPlayer and other players. I still prefer WMP.

Since WMP10 Mobile is tied to the OS there is no stand alone installer. A ROM update is needed. Just like there is no stand alone installer for .NET Compact Framework service packs.

MP3 ring tones will be supported on Qtek 8010/Orange C500/i-mate SP3 when/if an update with Windows Media Player 10 Mobile is released.

The Audiovox SMT5600 already has this update.

Mine is also fine.

First I had trouble making the phone fit in the case resulting in cutouts not being correct.
I tried again. Much better.
