So my new residence (Cambridge, Boston - USA) gets pretty poor GSM coverage and I'm all but ready to switch to Verizon. The only problem -- Verizon's selection of Smartphones is pathetic! I'm a current c500 user and I love having a smartphone. The only smartphones I can find on Verizon though are more PDA-esque (Treo and co.) which are too large and clunky for my purposes. So my question is, will we ever see these SWEET new compact-smartphones phones (Tornado, SP5, etc.) on Verizon or Sprint ? Has anyone heard anything about this? Thanks!! |

Are you guys recording Video or MMS Video? For me, "Video" failed because of a memory error (too much processing power?) and "MMS Video" didn't have any sound (yes, it was enabled in the options menu...) |

This "update" to the C500 is a COMPLETE LETDOWN!! How long has it been in the making.. a year or two? To recap: The camera and screen are the only worthwhile additions... everything else (media buttons, joystick) is a downgrade!! And no EDGE? Are they joking?? Color me extremely dissapointed.... |

I think of it like this: if the pot was a million dollars, you can be damn well sure that the best brains in the business would be working on this non-stop and we'd have a solution sooner or later. With $0 incentive, there's little chance of a developer picking up this niche project. We've got to find a happy, (affordable) medium between $0 and $1,000,000 to encourage development. Also: for the people quoting Microsoft saying that recording calls is impossible.. don't you think that they'd have said the exact same thing for phone unlocking?! |

Thanks to everyone for keeping this thread alive.. and thanks to everyone who "put their money where their mouth is" and added to the pot. I remain hopeful that, if the Modaco community can find a way to - for example - unlock cell phones, a voice recorder shouldn't be impossible! For the record, in computing the new total, here is what I added: archae79ad - $75 USD nielsbothof - $20 USD (had to round down, let me know if you'd like this higher) Wlodek - $20 USD payableondeath - 10 pounds (approx $20 USD) Thanks, guys! |

Those "media" buttons are a turnoff for me. Why wasteprecious real estate with such specialized buttons (I know that I will personally never use them). Not to mention, they really ruin the "look" of the phone (IMO).43 |

On the nokia phones, there are certain codes that allow one to access secret configuration menues. This is probabally where the confusion is coming from. By way of contrast, on Smartphones everything can be configured with applications and registry-edits. Hope it helps! |

Thanks! I'm not sure how I missed that.. Personally, the "media" buttons are a major turnoff for me! I know that I will never use them, and they occupy major real estate on the front of the phone. Also, that joystick looks gimmicky.. Otherwise, I can't wait |

There is a car charger offered on Amzaon now (for the SMT5600). If you want one without doing the eBay-gamble, you're set! http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detai...ronics&n=507846 (Didn't read all 7 pages before posting, so I apologize if this is old news..) |

Hey guys, So the Typhoon (c500 / SMT5600 / etc) has been on the market for awhile now, and is still (IMO) the premier Windows Smartphone. However, an updated release seems inevitable - with all of the new "standard" features on high-dollar phones. For example, I'm anxious for: USB 2.0 Camera - 1MP+ Windows Mobile 2005 Bluetooth 2.0 .. etc. Does anyone have any ideas about what HTC has in store for us ? They really hit-the-nail-on-the-head with the Typhoon, and so I'm anxious to see the next iteration! Thanks, Tyler |

QUOTE(dchester @ Mar 14 2005, 00:42) I believe the MPx220 is setup by default to surf regular (HTTP) Internet pages and not WAP. I've read of people setting it up to use WAP, but I've never attempted it (I like going to regular web pages). The onlys ones that I know it doesn't handle, are pages that use Frames, or Flash Graphics. Does anyone else have a suggestion? The link above doesn't work for me. I heard that it's supposed to be: http://home/ and that DOES take me to the Media.net intro page, but then it never connects after that (clicking "Next" does nothing).. Any ideas? |

Yeah.. sorry, by "the cable is black" I really meant: "The cable is not that ugly white color" Edit: Though Grey is fine, Black is still preferable |

Could you comment on how heavy the base is? I'm curious as to how "tippy" this dock is. Sure is purdy! |

Screen protectors: DON'T USE BOXWAVE (reasons are in another thread I made in this forum). I just picked up some Martin Fields and am very pleased. I believe JAVOEdge uses the same factory as Boxwave, but I can't confirm that. |

QUOTE(GravityArc @ Feb 25 2005, 05:48) I had the EXACT same problems with my BoxWave screen protectors. The ENGIRE perimiter was one big bubble and it never went away. They tried to say it was that it was dirty, so I washed it, but it didn't help. Then they said they "don't do returns" but they'll exchange it. I told them I obviously don't want ANOTHER one, and then they FINALLY fessed up to the fact that it doesn't work because the screen is not flat. They say they'll send me a refund, but I doubt I'll see it. Stay away from their screen protectors. They're garbage. Hey GravityArc.. I'm sorry about your experience but it sounds like we're in the same boat! Did you find another screen protector that works for you? I am tempted to try javoedge, but I read somewhere that Boxwave Screen Protectors and Javo Edge's are made by the same company. Maybe Martin Fields, then? |
