Doesn't work on my SGH-i600. Only shows 4Gb of my 8Gb MicroSDHC card. Any clues as to why it doesn't work?

(Yes, I rebooted phone)

I can confirm the existence of the fabled SDHC driver for win mobile.

I installed it on my SGH-i600 (WM6) and am now running with a 4GB MicroSDHC card installed with no problems at all.

A bit of googling and I was away....

WOOT!!!

QUOTE(chucky.egg @ Jan 9 2008, 18:01) *
Guys

We have an I600 on test, which I want to setup with an O2 contract GPRS connection.

I've got the settings for the APN, but they didn't work.
I tried getting the settings from the Samsung site (http://uk.samsungmobile.com./supports/configurephone/wapSetting.do?) but they aren't working either.

These haven't wored for me:
APN
Connects To: The Internet
APN: mobile.o2.co.uk
Username: o2web
Password: password

...or...

APN
Connects To: WAP Gateway
APN: wap.o2.co.uk
Username: o2wap
Password: password
Proxy
Connects From: WAP Gateway
Connects To: WAP Network
Proxy: 193.113.200.195
Port: 8080 (or 9021)
Everything I try either results in "The remote party has ended this connection", or "Your connection is not setup properly"

I'm hoping to get the APN settings, and any Proxy settings.
TIA

Here's Mine: Working perfectly on O2 UK on my SGH-I600

APN: mobile.o2.co.uk
Username: o2web
Password:password
Authentication: PAP
No Proxies, ports or dns server stuff enetered. (all at 0.0.0.0)

Hope this helps.

Er.. Mr webcomconsulting, could you please turn your caps-lock off when posting? It's bloody annoying trying to read sentences written entirely in caps. Looks like shouting or attention-seeking.

Thanks.

Anyone know what's happened to eeeuser.com? It's gone AWOL.

I know you're a member there Paul (as I am), and I wondered if you have any inside news on why they've disappeared?

Samsung preferred piscal viewer over pocket office and didn’t include it as a part of the upgrade. I was really expecting MIDP 2.0 support in the WM6 and unfortunately it’s not there as well sad.gif

I posted some information and links to the extracted cab for pocket office (smartphone); it was removed as it's not allowed to publish copyright material on this forum. If you search for WM6 and Pocket Office in "the search engine" you will find the same.
Hope it helps.

Thanks maiaawa, I'll have a look about biggrin.gif

I've upgraded my SGH-i600 to WM6 following the excellent guides and tips in the big 'Firmware' thread in this forum. Many thanks all who contributed. I couldn't have done it without you.

However I have one question; What happened to the WM Pocket MS Word and Excel that I read was included in the WM6 upgrade?

Thanks

***Update*** Beep Beep ***Update*** Beep Beep

Erm, I found out that the cradle DOES work on speakerphone perfectly well... IF you don't push the phone right down into
the slot. It's still stable in the cradle (sounds like Eminem laugh.gif ) but the mic is just uncovered enough to use.
Anyone know a one-button shortcut to switch on the speakerphone on the SGH-i600?

And I got the screen to stay on in the cradle by changing settings randomly wink.gif in Power Settings 'til I found the right one.

Understand what you say about the side connector, but it's not that bad, sort of a 'Steam Punk' look. Plus the USB connection is used for syncing as well as USB trickle charging.

All in all, it's better than leaving the phone lying, tethered, skidding around, under pieces of paper on my desk. Looks neater, more professsional somehow.

Hi MadSci,

It's me again tongue.gif I just taken delivery (from the USA) of one of these cradle jobbys for my SGH-i600. It fits in fine.
However, you're right about the charging: Mains charges the spare battery, whilst phone is charged and synced with the separate USB cable. It's not that bad really for £15.

Two things to report: I don't think the speaker-phone function can be used whilst it's in the cradle, as the seating slot for the phone covers the mic. Screen does not stay on, as phone is on USB charge not mains charging. I'm looking for a solution to this.

Don't know about extended battery as I don't have one.

@ MadSci:

Yes, I find them comfortable. They can be a bit tricky to put on at first, but once you get the knack it's fine.

Sound quality is excellent, both for the music and for calls whilst they're on. I don't know how they do it but the mic in the headset works
fine; I've never had a caller say they can't hear me.

Couple more things: the controls (Volume, Next Track, Pause, etc) are touch sensitive buttons (not Mechanical ones) and they can be tricky to press correctly.
As before though, once you get the hang of it, no problemo.

The Moto S9s can be tricky to wear if you wear specs. Sequence is... Specs off, Headset on, Specs on. Also if you are lounging or lying down with these on, you may have to
re-position then headset a bit to get comfortable.

Given all the above, I really do recommend these, Good sound, Slick design and you don't look like Flash Gordon's Co-pilot when your wearing 'em.

Hope this helps

I've got IBM J9 Java installed and running perfectly on my SGH-I600.

I've only run Gmail App and Google Maps Java clients though. But both of those work fine.

Might be worth finding out if there's a newer version if you're having problems. Also, try a battery out reset after install, but before running it.

Which Java apps are you trying to run? It might be the Java app rather than the IBM J9 runtime environment that's causing the problem.

AS I've said elswhere on this forum, I've recently bought a pair of these:

http://www.motorola.com/motoinfo/product/d...balObjectId=177

and they're great. Small, light, comfortable, etc, etc. A2DP, AVRCP, Mic, touch-sensitive controls and 6 hour battery life.

I highly recommend them.

I agree about the Moto HT820s being a bit big and uncomfortable. So I bought these:

http://www.motorola.com/motoinfo/product/d...balObjectId=177

They really are the Dog's B*ll*cks! Small, light etc, etc.

Plus you don't look like total space jockey when wearing 'em.

It's not a bug, it's a feature.

Settings > Profiles > Menu > Edit, then set "Ring type" to anything but "Increasing ring".
Hope that helps...
Ante

Edit: If the volume is set to Loud, it always defaults to increasing ring, i think. To prevent it from blowing your ear drum if you happen to have it near your head biggrin.gif

Christ, do they think I'm sitting around with the phone up to my ear all day, waiting for a call?

So, lets get this straight.. I turn the ringtone volume down, and then I can't hear the phone ring... or I turn the ringtone volume up and it mutes itself and I can't hear the phone ring? Greeaat job Samsung. So, what is the 'LOUD' setting for?

Anyhoo, my Ring Type is set to 'Ring' and it still does this delay thing. I'll try turning down from Loud to 4.

When I recieve a call on my SGH-i600, the ringtone seems to be delayed (screen shows caller ID so call is registered on phone) then the ringtone starts off sort of muted.

So there's a delay of 5 seconds or so, then for the first ring or two, the tone plays at really low volume, after which that it starts ringing at normal volume. It's very annoying. Why doesn't it just ring normally from the start?

Anybody else get this? And is there any way to fix it?

LOL smile.gif

Mine doesn't even display the Call History. Actually, it does, for about 1/4 of a second (or even less - it just blinks) then it goes straight to dialing the selected favourite contact. That's with firmware XXGD1.
Ante

Ah.. I'm using XXGC6 and I was thinking of re-flashing up a version (again). But, unless there's a compelling reason to do so (like the fix of the Carousel bug we are discussing), I think I'll leave
it until I can skip a couple of versions.

Do you know of any major differences between GC6 and GD1 that might persuade me to take the plunge and re-flash (it's such a pig re-installing all my apps mad.gif )?

A friend found it already, but thanks!

(i thought it can't get much clearer than "remove entries from the favourite contacts card in the Carousel home screen") wink.gif

Ah, OK MR orcinus, wink.gif Glad it's sorted.

On a related issue, I have found that if I press the green 'Call' key to call someone in my call history, no matter which one I select it dials the displayed
Carousel Favourite!

The only way to stop this happening is to navigate away from the Favourite Contacts card to something else, and then it will let you dial from the Call History
list.

Seems like a pretty dangerous bug blink.gif I called the missus from Call History and, without realising it the phone dialed work, so I ended up asking our company receptionist if she wanted me to pick anything up on the way home from work. Oh how we laffed.

Anybody else notice this fault?

To delete contact from favorities in Card Well/Carousel:
1) select contact to delete (left/right button)
2) click "ok" button to enter contact
3) "menu" > "delete"

Erm, I think he/she means remove the Contact from Carousel Favourites, not entirely delete it from the phone altogether.

I can't get my new Blackjack to sync with my new work computer. I can use my old Dopod 565 to sync with the same computer without any problems. My home computer has no problems connecting to the Blackjack. I'm assuming that it is a firewall issue since my work computer uses Windows Firewall. I'm just curious why the 565 can sync but the Blackjack can't. Does SP2003 work differently than WM5 with firewalls? The only other thing I can think of is that my work computer first had a partnership with the 565 but a computer should be able to sync with two different phones, right? Any thoughts would be appreciated. I'm using AS 4.2 build 4875 on XP Pro SP2. I have admin privileges but I can't change the Windows Firewall settings, which is why I can't just try it. Thanks.

I have had the same problem in the past.

If you can still add ports in Windows Firewall in Control Panel (sometimes you can 'Add Port' even if access to 'Edit Programs' is greyed out) add Port 990. Name it Activesync Manual or something so that you know in future that you added it manually.

Reboot and then Activesync should work. If not see http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=259369
for other ports that Activesync uses.

Let us know how it goes.

Yes, I've got Voice Assist on my i320... don't worry about not having it, it's crap. Mis-hears words, doesn't respond etc etc.

I now have Voice Command installed on the phone and it seem to work perfectly. Yes it's $40, but it works.

As a paid up user of Cameraware I have a request: Instead of the compass direction showing, would it be possible to show the current time (from the phone)?

The reason I ask is that I have the Compass direction already displaying in the overhead console in my Ford Explorer (it tallies very well with Cameraware BTW smile.gif ), but the damn car doesn't have a bloody clock in it mad.gif .

Because I have Cameraware on all the while, a time display would be far more useful to me (and probably to many others who don't drive across deserts!) than the direction display.

Perhaps there could be a choice of what displays in the lower panel in 'Expert Mode'?

Keep up the good work.

Is this possible for Samsung i320 running WM5? The voice tag option is not available in my standards contacts software.

Thanks for any advice,

Microsoft Voice Command 1.6 for Smartphone. No more voice tags, just straight-up vioce dialling and commands. With BT support if you have the right BT Headset. smile.gif
