I want to set my screen rotation to landscape, I think "alwys landscape" switching between modes still takes some time after the regtweaks and I find it better reading (90% of all other screen orientation in the world is landscape...)

the keys HKLM\System\GDI\Rotation only shows what mode the screen in is and reset every time you reset the device or some program doesn't like landscape and changes it back to portait.

I used a app on my Dell Axim a few years ago which did the trick but it should be configurable in the registry I think...

Does anyone know where I can hardset it to landscape?

So, just that registry key on its own is what enables .11g?

Yes, I tried it on my girl friends Vario. (read the other thread wink.gif)

Left Soft Key

"HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Today\Keys\112"

"Default" entry contains what the key displays in the bar.

"Open" entry contains what the keys starts when the button is tapped, usually .exe files.

Right Soft Key

"HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Today\Keys\113"

"Default" entry contains what the key displays in the bar.

"Open" entry contains what the keys starts when the button is tapped, usually .exe files. Don't forget the " and" around the sting.

but what the startmenu starts, I dont know.. please post it when you find it smile.gif

The values are all string, if the keys do not exist in your device you must add them.

After all changes switch the device off woth the on/off button, if the keys don;t work right away make a call and try again.

I know it can be customized, when I had a Dell Axim X5 I found an application which could change the width, color and location of the scollbar... I don;t hjave it anymore so try a google for the application.

Check the last post, you don need to import the cab file completely, it screws up some other registry keys too, check my posts in the other thread:

Add this key only:

QUOTE
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\TNETWLN1\Parms

add key with name:

dot11SupportedRateMaskG

Value DWORD:

8

Did you ever got a succesful synch with your phone?

I got a Orange M3000 and my girlfriend a Vario, I can connect hers and I can access it thru MSAsynch to put files on the device so I think synching data would work fine too...

The cab also sets \HKLM\system\StorageManager\FATFS\CacheSize and the other cache things to 1024, it should be set to 4096 (see other reghacking threads). it also removed my indicator for the dot/shift button.

So it is not a good idea to use this cab when you've set the other values according to the other threads.

I just tried adding the key dot11SupportedRateMaskG with DWORD value 8 to my girlfriends MDA Vario and that did the job, she can connect to my G-only mode AP.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\TNETWLN1\Parms

add key with name:

dot11SupportedRateMaskG

Value DWORD:

8

Great!

I was checking what is inside the cab,

2 files:

HTCWIZ~1.000
Containing:

CODE
CE4+    ‘
                              ‚   "  *  D  ”  t  d  }  ‚       HTC Wizard Optimizer 1.0 DJVW   \   %CE4%   System   GWE   Menu
ControlPanel   Keybd   StorageManager    FATFS
 Filters   fsreplxfilt    Comm
  TNETWLN1   Parms             CapNotify.lnk

           AniType            EnableIndicator           CacheSize           EnableCache           ReplStoreCacheSize           dot11SupportedRateMaskG           dot11SupportedRateMask                     Œ  SSDK

And the 2nd file:

CAPNOT~1.001

Containing:

32#"\Windows\CapNotify.exe"

I tried running the capnotify.exe from the \windows dir but that doesn't seems to do much.. does anyone know what it is needed for?

The first file contains registrykeys,

dot11SupportedRateMaskG
and
dot11SupportedRateMask

are the interesting ones I think.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\TNETWLN1\Parms

The other ones are keys from other registry optimizations I think.

Can someone verify what the dot11SupportedRateMask is set to on a out-of-the-box G enabled device? on my M3000 it is set to 1.

After adding the key dot11SupportedRateMaskG with a DWORD value 1, the m3000 finds the AP but does not connect to it.

The "normal" way is to hold Comm and Voice and pry the soft-reset button for 1 sec.

I just found out if you tap soft-reset, and when the screen goes black hold Comm and Voice it asks for to press send (green phone button)..

I'm cleaning out my M3000 atm... you can check what's in the cab by downloading it from your Wizard to your PC. I used Totalcommander for pocketpc: http://www.ghisler.com/pocketpc.htm to copy the files from \Extended_ROM to my storagecard.

Then I opened the Storagecard with Totalcommander on my PC with the WinCE Filesystem plugin: http://www.ghisler.com/plugins.htm#filesys and copied the cab files to my pc, if you double click the cab in totalcommander it opens it up like a ZIP, then you can view whats actually in the files, there are some XML files which are "readable", just hit F3 'to open the viewer. if you see garbage, check the next one wink.gif

This is an example of a part of the IE Favorites cab:

CODE
<wap-provisioningdoc>
<!--    Network Setting  -->
<!--  Favorite Setting  -->
<!--  Del favorite-->
    <characteristic type="Registry">
 <nocharacteristic type="HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\FavoritesEntries\MSN Mobile" />
 <nocharacteristic type="HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\FavoritesEntries\Pocket PC Web Guide" />
 <nocharacteristic type="HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\FavoritesEntries\WindowsMedia.com" />

 <characteristic type="HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\FavoritesEntries\Orange World" >
     <parm name="Icon" value="\Windows\orange16.bmp" datatype="string" />
     <parm name="URL" value="wsp://wap.orange.nl/" datatype="string" />
     <parm name="Order" datatype="integer" value="0" />
 </characteristic>
 <characteristic type="HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\FavoritesEntries\Nieuws & Weer" >
     <parm name="Icon" value="\Windows\orange16.bmp" datatype="string" />
     <parm name="URL" value="wsp://wap.orange.nl/ deeplink.cfm?channel=nieuwsweer" datatype="string" />

The bottom part is where the actual link is added to the favs.

This is the first time I've heard of a BT GPS device not being able to pair with more than one phone - What is it?

My TomTom BT GPS doesn't pair to 2 devices either, it's the first all silver BT GPS tomtom sold.

I've got problems with my Mr. Butterfly BT headset, it pairs ok with the M3000. But when turned off and on again it doesn't repair the connection.

On my workphone (nokia 6310i) I just tap on the button on the headset and the BT connection is restored just like on my previous c500... :?:

If the network is set to G-only it is a problem yes.. B-clients slow down a G network much less than in the first generations G, but if it has B enabled but no B clients are connected you should not see any slowdown.

My M3000 connects to my Linksys WRT54G in B-mode or mixed @11mbps only, when I set it to G-only it drops the connection.

I don't think you will gain much from the G standard, the device is not capable of "digesting" a lot of data
