We have two options here: a) If you home internet firewall router has a “Dynamic DNS” option within its settings, then chances are that you can input your DynDNS details in there and the router will auto update the service for you. I never realised my MIMO Netgear Router had this feature (pre figured for dyndns.org) - but it does!! Many Thanks ! |

Had to Remote access a SBS 2003 Server from my Vario III "for real" the first time last week. Seems if you use the on screen keyboard (large Keys - No numbers showing), when you press the 123 button to access the numberpad, the numbers don't work on the destination machine. (Update: The 1 does, but no others) Tried with Small keys (Number showing) and the "PCM Keyboard" - same effect - only the "1" transmitted, all other number keys are inoperable. Same goes for using the real keyboard, as the Fn button has to be used, and this seems to affect the remote access (ie no numbers appear) As I use complex passwords, I had to enter these on the application page before connecting - no problem there, but not being able to type numbers when connected is no good. Any ideas - there doesn't appear to be an about/version screen on WM6 Remote Access. |

I plug my phone to my work's computer so I can charge it up. But every time I plug it in, my work's proxy server get added and everyttime it happens, I have to untick the settings via Start -> Settings -> Connections -> Connections and under My Work Network, Edit my proxy server If I do not clear it out, the phone won't be able to connect to the Internet. Is there a way to stop this from happening? Thanks, I've found the same thing No solution yet. |

Not been round here for a while - got distracted to a Nokia E70 when my Vario (KJam) was stolen. Now I'm back with the Vario 3 (TYTN 2) Here's the issues I've had so far. I have tried to search the forums, but to no avail......... Any assistance here is gratefully received. Key Press volume on Smart Dialer is VERY loud - can you change it without changing the overall volume? Screen Black during outbound call (edit: Found Reg hack - not tested yet) Screen Dimming on/after inbound, Windows key locked, today screen active. Turn off (not power down) and on again, screen opens dimmed, goes black, and opens again bright - and fully functional. (edit: Found Reg hack - not tested yet - Re-edit: Aparently it won't work!) Can you set outbound to Select Wifi first, and then GPRS when WiFi not available? (Symbian/Nokia E70 feature) Why won't GPRS/WiFi work when the USB is connected - our work PC's block Internet access via USB, so the USB cradle cuts me off from MSN/email etc - can this be hacked/changed? Can you configure any options for HTC Today Plugin (Weather update interval, ringing profiles etc) Can't seem to delete unwanted email accounts (Outlook - Installed by default) and Windows Live (Installed automatically with MSN Messanger) Sync-ing error: Network Access Message error when (Outlook) Notes are included, but the device syncs anyway on second attempt (the notes won't sync - "Attention Required"). No error if notes removed from sync list. (Contacts and Calander & Tasks are all fine). Outlook running from local PST, not Exchange, and worked fine under WM5/KJam and Nokia E70) If you open Calander from Soft Button, it opens in Year View (despite set to Agenda) Open by tapping today screen, opens in Agenda view. - Bug ?? Don't get me wrong, I think it a fabulous phone, although Google Maps couldn't keep up at 70mph, Additional: Press Red Phone key for 5 second, phone locks. Nice ! |

After faffing with TB Customer Services for 2 weeks - no stock till next week, some time. Called all the TMobile shops in London - all only received 2 handsets each, and Oxford Street received 4 - what a joke for this handest that's been eagerly anticipated since February. In the end Chitter Chatter's direct sales office came up tops, and a quick train ride to Carshaultom later, and I got it. Free BT Headset, Flext25 + W&W (£27ppm) - handset was £115. Very Happy. Now tinkering away ! |

QUOTE(Smirf @ Jan 30 2006, 18:45) Hi, Hope you guys can help m.e Recently got the MDA Vario. Generally very happy with it but looking for ways to make it easier to use with one hand. Biggest problem I have is trying to close programs or click ok without touching the very top right hand corner with finger or stylus. Is there any way to map the hardware button directly above this, currently shortcut to internet, which I don't use to perform the action of clicking these 'X's or 'Ok's? And also, any good screen protectors available in the UK which don't put a horrible pattern all over the screen like the ones that came with it? Very grateful for any help. Thanks I slide the screen open 1" and press the OK button on the keyboard, then snap it shut ! |

QUOTE(Alsicole @ Jan 24 2006, 18:54) I got my Vario from the T-Mo shop at the Trafford Centre on Sunday. I went to the T-Mo site yesterday to download the ROM update and it's the same ROM that's already on my device, so it looks like T-Mo are keeping things pretty up to date. I believe the ROM was 1.6.2.4 WWE Where on the t-mobile site did you find the ROM download ? |

I bought two of those from him, and he has now set up a paypal account. 4 weeks delivery, but nice - you need to secure it with blurtack, so it can be used in the dock. The supplied stylus is clear, and there is a blue LED under it, so it lights up! |

Hi Can anyone give a clue as to what these cab files do? I've installed none, and wifi works fine, as does the phone (!) I know some look obvious - I read MitchellO's thread (http://www.modaco.com/index.php?act=Attach&type=post&id=16540), and the TMobile Vario files bear little resemblense. I presume TMUK is T-mobile UK, but what then is TMOUK and TMO ? Any help appreciated! QUOTE(adchaffey @ Nov 16 2005, 21:25) Just came across this on the mobile fun site... http://www.mobilefun.co.uk/product/8307.htm but at nearly £20 plus another £10 for a suction mount (which I'd need, no way am I drilling into my dashboard!) it's not cheap. Anyone found anything good yet??? That style of suction mount falls off very easily. And no power on the charger. I'm using a generic clip one until the carcomm one arrives as Expansys. |

QUOTE(ajfoggy @ Oct 24 2005, 11:42) Hi, Has anyone found a decent car mount for the phone yet, can't really use TomTom yet until i can see the phone whilst driving. Carcomm in Holland produce excellent car charges/cradles. I had one for my MDA Compact - both holder, and windscreen sucker mechanism are excellent. They have one for the 9100/Vario/MiniS etc, in about 6 weeks. Selling via Expansys. http://www.carcomm.nl/news.asp |

Apologies for the language and typos. They are a corporate supplier, and regular supplier of hardware to Internet shops. They will supply single units - That's why I posted it ;-) James does indeed work there - and was very helpful. Good Luck |

At work I use Outlook, and it syncs very well with my Compact MDA. I want sync some of the information on my Home PC, and so I also sync Contacts and Tasks - all fine so far. I decided that I want some calander items (the personal ones) to be synced at home as well, so while at work I labeled every personal appointment and birthday etc with a catagory of "Personal". At work I set the calander settings to sync all calander items, (not a short task!) and when I got home I set the calander options to sync only those with a catagory of Personal. The first sync ignored the personal tag, and loaded all items from MDA to Outlook. I thought that maybe the catagory tag only works from Outlook to the MDA, so I deleted the non personal items in my home outlook. This should have been fine, as these were not due to be synced as they were not marked as personal. Well you can guess what happened - all my work appointments were then erased from my MDA. So I will have to backup my work calander before syncing there, so I can restore them all afterwards. The question (at last!) is why did ActiveSync ignore the "Personal" only instruction, and has anyone managed to get a partial calander to replicate from one machine, and a full calander from another? Any ideas ? |

QUOTE(Sergionenl @ Jul 20 2005, 14:04) Agree with your comments, Joost39. It has taken me 2 months to make the JAM fully functional and now, with rom & radio 1.12 everything works fine. Except for one thing: the voices from TT5 aren't understandable at all. They sound like a radio from the 40's. Re-install won't help and all other sounds on the JAM are ok. Does anybody have this same problem? Tomtom themselves seem to take ages to answer and I would really like Lucie telling me where to go. Regards, Sergio That's odd, my MDA Compact speaker is poor with the standard things - like MS Voice Command, Speakerphone etc. But with TomTom 3, there is a voice settings in Properties, and it's more than loud enough - I donlt even have it on Max. Odd that TTN5 is so poor. Or there's a problem with your speaker. |

Hi bought the "i-mate JAM Powered Car Cradle w/Suction Mount" from Expansys and was pleased as after some wiggling the unit connected and did charge. The second time of use the connector was pushed into the unit - broken. Expansys have determined that there is a minor manufacturing fault that mis-allignes the MDA Compact to the connector, and have withdrawn the product and expect a replaement in 10 days or so. There were 55 sold, a bulk order of 50 and 5 other customers. If you are one of them, contcat them for a swap out. If you buy one from the person that bought 50, good luck !! |

I use my Shure e2c's and the sound quality is not bad. Not tried a playlist yet, but as you can't remove WMP, and space is limited, I'm not prepared to add another application. I use this connector -
2.5jackto3.5socket.bmp ( 178.18K )
Number of downloads: 45which make a little crackle when moved, but is OK. The microphone on the handset still works, so no need to unplug when a call comes in (WMP10 will pause on an inbound call). Not bad in the car, with a tape adaptor either. Power drain is quite high though. |

Wehen you run the report, you'll see double counting. It's a fault - I've reorted it to TMobile and SPB - nothing yet. Tmobile can let you view data usage online - so you can check. Also, use the PDA version of the BBC sites - less data intensive http://www.bbc.co.uk/mobile/pda |
