Its called ActivSync -works fine for me wink.gif

Working fine for me now too, but over the last few years, with various devices I've grown to hate Activesync with a passion. It really is bad, bad software.

That said, this software is nice, especially as a person who's bought a Mac for the first time very recently, but you still need a Windows machine realistically for full functionality - many programs need you to install exe files.

Although I hear the Mac makes a really nice Windows PC nowadays... smile.gif

Never tried a "normal" RSS reader so don't have anything to compare it to! Hubdog works and works well, together with the fact that it's free helps wink.gif
Can you get video casts and podcasts with Egress? Adding channels is simple and it all just works -what more could I want?

I've just installed the democracy now player for my pc, so yeah, may just go ahead and install hubdog, coz it kinda reminds me of it now... smile.gif

I've just d/l a copy of Pocket Player for Smartphone so I'll give that a go later tonight once I'm home from work.

It is indeed a shame about PocketMusic - a wonderful little app spoilt by shoddy support. Ho-hum.

Not sure what support the smartphone one has for bluetooth...

but the DLL you need for Pocket PC's is attached.

Did you ever hear anything back from PocketMind re PocketMusic?
I got totally brassed off waiting for them to support QVGA Smartphone let alone A2DP sad.gif Email after email has been ignored I'm afraid, and now I just use TCPMP.

Nope. Bit disappointing, coz the program is otherwise lovely.

BTW, typing this from my handheld via my PC, using logmein.com. Breathtaking!

Hi,

Given T-mobile's lovely unlimited data offer, plus the fact that the Universal is 3G, what sort of apps are people starting to stick on their Universals which they might not have done before unlimited data was available?

I'm expecting weather forecasts and maybe rss and stuff like that. Is that about fair?

I use the superb marsware weather panel - it's easily the most lovely looking of all the weather products, especially with the animated icons added. Well worth the cash - even updates satellite maps on a 30minute bassi if needed.

Also, Egress RSS reader is superb - one handed operation is perfect for me. Even though I have two hands. (?) smile.gif

Push Email is brilliant - once you try it, it's hard to go back to normal - I pay about £4 per month for the feature via 4smartphone.net. There are free services out there, but in the time I've had this one, I've notice them go down (on the forums) at least three times.

I can also happily keep images switched on via browsing, and I think I'll install orb again - it's almost like a totally free slingbox. Works a treat.

I'm sure I'll find more - I may even start using msn messenger again - yeah, it's banned, but it's such low data usage, especially if you stick to agile messenger, that it isn't going to raise any flags.

I'd also like to stream radio again, but that definitely would raise a flag. smile.gif

For £7.50 per month, I can keep radio until I'm at home on wifi.....

Having a Universal with Bluetooth Stereo and Remote Control is excellent - but previously I was stuck with Windows Media Player, which as a music player, should really be taken out and shot.

I emailed both the creators of Pocket Music and Pocket Player, two excellent music players, but without A2DP and AVCRP support.

The Pocket Player people just got back to me, and supplied a DLL file which gives their player full bluetooth stereo support.

I'm happy to report that it works a treat, so fill yer boots!

Get it here!

And even better, you now don't have to use the awful Windows Media Player to get AVCRP - I wrote a long email to the Pocket Player people, and they just got back to me with a fix to get AVCRP and A2DP working with their Pocket Player!

Works a treat.

b-b, when you get the hermes your data se will increase significantly as it has 3G. T is the only way to go. The only reasons for not being with T are a) more money than sense or b)You are one of the unlucky few that doesn't have reception on T.

I already have 3G on my XDA Exec.

a) Definitely not true, hence my lack of bill payment this month. gotta make it up next month.

cool.gif Got reception.

It's c) Waiting on this device and then letting my O2 contract lapse into uselessness for the remainder of the six months.

It can't come soon enough from t-mobile - my data bill portion of my bill is currently about £90 a month on O2, and that's not even for a huge amount of data on a personal contract.

Ridiculous.

Can't wit until I'm web and walk.

Is that going to be "Goodbye O2, Hello TMobile followed by goodbye Vario II, welcome back Exec and a pot of cash" or "Goodbye O2, Hello TMobile followed by goodbye Exec, hello Vario II and a (possibly bigger) pot of cash"

The latter. smile.gif

Although I love the style of the Exec, the size of the Vario is something I loved with my original XDA Mini.

I'll miss VGA res though, so who knows, may keep it....

Buttons look bigger though. Might be close together but it might be just as easy to use?

As regards O2 vs TMob - no contest surely, Unlimited data vs expensive data, I know which I will pick!

Yeah - if O2 want to wake up, someone there should be PANICKING.

As of 7 days ago, I'm been charged about £70 this month already for data from O2 - I'm not gonna sustain that. sort of usage with push email and so on.

Cheaper for me to reduce to the lowest tariff, pay out the contract and switch to T-Mobile.

But BOTH your posts in this thread so far fraser have been 'poor' offerings, to say the least mate, in terms of any real basis in fact or truth.

Web n Walk...? Absolutely bloody godsend, and in time, I actually believe it will be the very thing that looking back, we can say was responsible for the sea change in the UK Telecoms Mobile Data Market - I don't think it's overstating to even say that!

Hear hear. I'm not even waiting to end my contract in Dec, I'm gonna buy it out whenever the Vario II is out. T-Mobiles data tariff is THAT good in my mind.

Yes, it's 100% anti-competative. It would be like the bus companies breaking your legs so you can't walk anywhere and instead need to pay them for their facilities any time you move about.

Absolutely terrible analogy.

Yeah - I've got my pac code - the number i'm transfering is on a different contract to the one that ends in may - normal 30 sec chat with orange retention staff...

Now just to find anywhere stocking the Vario, and offering the 25% discount wacko.gif

I've found that T-Mobile in the last two days, have stopped stocking the Vario on their web page. Bizarre. I'm gonna wait for the Vario II though - it's 3G and comes with Push Email and Bluetooth Stereo out of the box and has similar keyboard to the Exec, which is lovely. It may take until JUNE though, but hopefully, the Vario being taken down maybe means the Vario II is on it's way sooner?

If that is the case, I'm getting the VARIO II as soon as it's out, and I'll worry about the crappy O2 contract I'm in after that....

p.s. if you wanna do a search for the vario II on the net, it's called the Hermes.

You can get your PAC code 28 days of thereabouts before the endof your contract. Get that s*** sorted ASAP.

I was charged £99 for two days data with O2 recently. I can't wait until my O2 contract is up.
