If you are looking on eBay most of the phones are preunlocked. That's how I bought mine.

No problem, I've got mine set to WCDMA-only and it's fantastic here in Australia on a UMTS2100 HSDPA network.

Guys it seems to be a common mistake with the i617 on eBay, a lot of the auctions only say 850/1900 UMTS, but it is 850/1900/2100. I picked mine up on eBay unlocked, brand new, for AU$330 delivered express! That's about 151 GBP.

This is the guy I bought it from: http://stores.ebay.co.uk/bloomdeal

He shipped extremely fast and it arrived very quickly.

Bargain of the century!

Yep, be vary wary that the 6.1 ROMs are for the original i607 BlackJack, not the i617 BlackJack II. I remember people flashing their i600's with the i607 WM6 ROM then wondering why it didn't work, make sure you have right ROM for your device!

To be honest, I've been snapping photos and sending voice clips using Windows Live Messenger on my phone for ages now, and I love it, but it's not really new.

Yep, I wouldn't go downloading anything before you check.

http://www.wireless.att.com/businesscenter...-comp-table.jsp

Just looking at this, they will charge you $5/MB over their limit if you have a PDA plan, so I can only imagine the cost if you aren't on any kind of data plan at all :S

Thanks for that, you have to disconnect the data connection before it will stick.

I got a warn for posting a cab file like that a while back tongue.gif

Very cool though, shame HTC didn't see fit to include the full thing ready setup in the first place.

I tried running 50 games on it and only one worked properly.

Mate it is pretty obvious that most games won't work on them because they are landscape devices. Most games are designed for portrait 240x320 only, so to say don't buy them for that reason is ludicrous.

Just swapped to using a Sony Ericsson P1i and this new version is fabulous! The old version was annoying on the P1i as it didn't use the whole screen (like it does on my N95).

Like the specs (although no GPS is a bit odd considering the competition these days) but it looks so weird! Like one of those Symbol industrial PDAs.

And it looks like it "borrowed" the Treo 750 keyboard design/layout tongue.gif

Yeah thats a good idea Mark. There isn't a way to lower the volume of the wake up alarm, but if you use the other alarms you can control their volume using the phone profiles. Problem is they obviously weren't designed for the Mon-Fri wake up call, they will wake you up every day or only once.

I can't believe people have flashed i600's with the i607 ROM.

Have you guys tried looking over at xda-developers.com? they are the ROM hackers/crackers, if there is an answer it will be there. You really shouldn't flash your phone unless you know what you are doing - unless you don't mind ending up with a brick...

Especially with ROMs from different devices tongue.gif

Yep, same with my Euro unbranded i600. I just remember to take out my card when I add contacts for now. PITA though. Have to take my microSD out to change alarms as well or it hangs.

I had that happen on my Nokia CK-1W, but I'm not sure about the Parrot. I will check and get back to you.

Hey that's pretty cool it unlocks then relocks.

I'm getting into the habit now of unlocking my phone before I get in the car and leaving it in my pocket. With the great interface on the display on the 3200LS I don't need to access the phone at all when driving.

Do you think a USB to Serial Connector can be used? So we can still use the USB data cable but connect it with USB to Serial connector

A USB to Serial adaptor gives your computer a serial port, it doesn't make the USB cable into a serial cable. A USB to Serial adaptor is only good if you don't have a serial port on your computer.

Mitchello !

And when the keypad is locked can you still dial the numbers from the Parrot 3200 ?

V

Yes I can. Tried it yesterday. I beamed my most-called contacts over to the carkit, and can dial them either using the carkits built-in voice recognition (which works better than the Samsung one, but needs training for each contact) or manually selecting them and clicking call.

The 3200LS really is very good. Expect a review on Gear Diary soon!

UPDATE: Tried it again today dialing while the keypad was locked didn't work. I must have had it unlocked and didn't realise.

Yeah I have found that with a lot of stuff. My card reader even has its light on (the connected light, not activity light) when it is in sleep mode. It must still supply power to the USB ports when off.

I am considering buying a USB Battery Charger (one of the ones that you plug the USB cable into the USB port on the little battery-powered box) but I expect that it wouldn't work for the same reasons it doesn't on my standalone powered USB hub.

Samsung, you got so much right, so how did you get this wrong?

I think it is great that HTC are finally getting their name out there. They have created some great devices over the years, and having them named HTC might reduces some of the model name confusion wink.gif

Well today I got my Parrot LS3200 installed in my car and so far so good. Only used it for about 5mins calls and 2hrs total so far, but it seems to work pretty well with my i600. Dialing numbers from the screen on the carkit works just fine too. Haven't tried uploading contacts to it yet.
