This happened to me until I uninstalled flash from the device. This is not necessary to play videos from the YT site (if you have the correct codecs etc installed), and frankly the version of IE that shipped with the kaiser is slow enough without worrying about it flash too wink.gif

I might be wrong here, but as far as I remembered, I didn't have to make ANY of these folders on the card at all, and the device made the dirs automatically as needed? Might be barking up the wrong tree, though.

Bit of a bump, this now works and I've added it to the free software sticky.

All in one working cab for WM5storage for kaiser. Reboot the PPC after you're warned it hasn't installed correctly. Thanks to the guys on xda-dev smile.gif

A quick googling gives smtp.t-email.co.uk, but I haven't tested this.

can you not use the windows live medsenger built into the phone?

The T-mob uk Vario 3 doesn't come with the messenger built in. I do agree that it would be far easier to use the native winmob client though, google or search this forum or xda-dev for the cab.

For your phone returning to the today screen try start -> settings -> today, then items tab. Uncheck the "Today timeout" tickbox.

GPS program port set at COM 4 (unchanged)
GPS hardware port set at 'None' (unchanged)
Baud rate set at 4800 (unchanged)
Manage GPS automatically is ticked (unchanged)

^ This sounds like you've been into the External GPS applet? There are known issues with this and the only way to resolve that would be a hardware reset.

What I would do: Hard reset again. Try running QuickGPS (which should be preinstalled on your phone). Open a GPS app such as Google maps and leave it in clear view of the sky - leave it there for up to half an hour in case it takes a long time to get a first time lock. If it still won't find a signal then return to vendor smile.gif

Orange won't change the time - it should automatically sync itself to the same time as your PC whenever you use Activesync. I'm at work just now and can't really whip the phone out, but from memory all you have to do to change the time is tap on the clock?

I'm not sure if you've ever used hex/binary before, the wiki says the 0011111 value is a binary value, not a hex value. It also says the full value includes the working hours too, so it would be something more like 2210001F in hex (as 1f is 31 in hex which = 0011111 in binary). Bit sleepy this morning, don't shoot me if that's the wrong value wink.gif

Hopefully that'll give you a pointer, at least.

I've found that virtually all apps designed for WM5 work just fine on WM6, and also that most older WM2003/PPC apps are okay too. You should be fine smile.gif

You can use the built in "sound recorder" app in desktop windows as a rudimentary tool for this. You can boost volume and snip using it, then save as wav.

For those googling, the app is called HTC Album, not HTC Gallery.

You can get it on the xda-developers forum. I am unsure if attaching it here is allowed, so I haven't.

I can confirm it's a lovely slick app though wink.gif

Hiya,

You'll find reg tweaks already compiled in the Kaiser wiki, which is linked in this thread.

I can't say for sure, but I can tell you that Blueyonder's SMTP server quite happily allows me to authenticate to it and send through it while using the T-mob connection. Since they're essentially the same company now I'd guess that should work?

The BBC radio feeds all work very nicely in Real Player on my VIII. To save fishing around the BBC site on my phone I browsed to the various stations, played the station, hit the "play in standalone player" button then saved the .ram file onto my phone. Resco radio also works well.

Oddly I'm sure I'm only on basic W&W, but streaming from BB, and using the Orb plugin for winamp to stream from my home PC to my phone, AND using Live messenger all work just fine.

Oddly I don't have this problem with Google Maps. Mine locks on just fine without running any sort of GPS app directly beforehand. It even locks on in a few seconds directly after a cold boot.

@ the OP, I had a T-mob vario which was the same as the O2 Mini-S, as I understand it. I also find my new phone has shocking WMV playback in the built in WMP, worse than my old phone. Everything else is far faster - I can play even full res divx etc files acceptably in Core. I splashed out on Core player to go with the new phone, I always used TCPMP before.

As you say, TCPMP and Core won't play WMV sad.gif I'm sure an old version of TCPMP used to play it, but I need this version to use the flash plugins for youtube etc. *Every* WMV file I've tried to play is really jerky. Maybe this should be in the annoyances thread smile.gif

I'll try backing up with Sprite backup then using the_ape's patch.

Delete the device from activesync. Copy the items from the SIM onto the phone again. Connect your phone to the PC, activesync should ask you to set the profile back up, and should ask you what you want to do with the contacts. It sounds like AS has got confused and is overwriting the phone's contact list with it's own, rather than merging them.
