QUOTE(burnerg81 @ Dec 2 2006, 23:54) *
Hi all. Can someone who has the phone tell me if a micro sd wifi card will fit? Spectec are going to launch one soon which has dimensions 23.3 x 11 x 0.7 mm, so around 8mm longer than a normal card?

I don't really need anymore memory I just want the phone for internet (wifi if possible) and email. Am I just being too optimistic??

Thanks.

No it won't fit sad.gif

I haven't checked under the sim, but assuming that it will fit (its slightly longer than a normal MicroSD) it should work.

The problem is its got no built in memory so you wouldn't be able to use your GPS software etc.. without having to swap back and forth between cards which is a right pain on this handset.

If it's any bigger than a standard card it won't fit sad.gif

Nope... on the Start Menu itself there is one called 'Organiser' and one or two others IIRC.

They have custom icons, but they're folders really...

P

So there are rolleyes.gif I hadn't clicked those

It's there, but in a subfolder IIRC.

I flattened the structure back to normal on the wife's MDACIII, and the shortcut is there!

Only subfolder on mine was games and it wasnt in there

Not a big issue I know, but is anyone elses MDA Compact III missing the Calculator shortcut in Programs? I put one back in.

The more I look at this device the more T-Mobile have butchered the ROM..

Can anyone with a HTC Artemis with the Wifi Enabled send me a copy of the registry? Specifically I need HKLM\Comm\TNETWLN1 and everything below it.

QUOTE(lancaster @ Nov 17 2006, 01:02) *
Hi,

This is my first post on MoDaCo, been lurking for a week or so though!
I started a new contract with T-mobile last Sunday and ordered the MDA Compact III, amazing deal I thought - WiFi and TomTom for £59.99 on a £20 contract. Unfortunately, as you all probably know this is not actually the case and tmobile have pulled a fast one. Now, I really like the phone and I'd still like to keep it despite it not having WiFi or TomTom installed but for some reason I'm having trouble getting the GPS to work.

If I go to the GPS settings the program port is set to COM4, however the hardware port is set to (None) and the baud rate is set to 4800. Could someone who has got GPS working on the UK MDA Compact III please tell me if these are the correct settings?

Thanks very much in advance.

Yes these are correct, just set the GPS port in your application to COM4 and baud 4800, it'll then work.

If it's got the Wi-Fi hardware in it then it would be nice to get it working. If not then it's not so much of a problem, considering the 10-11 times I've actually used the Wi-Fi on my Wizard in the last year.

It would be interesting to know the details for the Dutch (I think) T-Mobile version of the device. Which I believe has Wi-Fi enabled.

The O2 variant, which has WiFi is ARTE200.

I really doubt that the hardware is any different

Somehow I have mangaged to remove everything from my extended_rom area on my MDA Compact III.

I have a few of the files but not all, can anyone grab em off their device and let me have them?

The config file shows:

LOCK:Enabled
SHOW:\Windows\TMO_WallPaper.bmp
EXEC:\Windows\cusTSK.exe \Windows\T-Mobile.tsk
XML: \Windows\MP_MMS3.5_TMUK_Artemis_060829.xml
CAB: \Extended_ROM\MP_CVSDcpl_20060523-02.cab
CAB: \Extended_ROM\MP_MMS35_OMA_CP_PPC_060717.cab
CAB: \Extended_ROM\PP_pIE_DefaultPage_TMO_UK.CAB **
XML: \Extended_ROM\PP_ExtVer.xml **
CAB: \Extended_ROM\SP_Tray117_1100.CAB
CAB: \Extended_ROM\PP_RemoveBTlnk.cab **
CAB: \Extended_ROM\ST_CameraSensor.CAB
LOCK:Disabled
RST: Reset

I have the ones with ** next to them biggrin.gif

On my K-Jam holding down the Call End button for about five seconds seems to do the trick.

It would be but all the numbers would be sideways. Best thing I've found is to pop a screen protector on and get the fingers on the screen. All the numbers I ring are in Contacts so it doesn't make much difference to me
