So how do they work? Do u just buy one? Its not clear to me from the site, but it is first thing in the morning... lol i tested it out last night and it works pretty much as suspected. it finds the wireless router, uses a microsoft program to find the music on the PC, then you just play it with the remote control. upside: it's wirelss downside: it's not as pretty, or configurable as the touchscreens. |

Mite be akward to connect them all me thinks! As for the sound, no idea pal sorry the sound is the easy part- independantly powered logitech speakers in the room, hooked up to the sound card or splitter. with these touchscreens i could control some kind of software which governs which speakers are turned on at any one time. just been on the phone with carcomputer.co.uk they have 3 in clearance stock for 150 pounds, including shipping and everything it would set me back 560 quid to get them to holland... now i just need to convince my girlfriend that we need them |

SWEET! those lilliput touch screes are well nice! and 109 euros each.... affordable. i'm speaking with the manufcturer by email to help find the best units. The plan is to have one main PC, with these touchscreens as an interface. |

hello! it's been ages since i posted on this site, been so busy with work lately, anyway... i've come across a pretty tricky problem in my new house and i know there are some very technical people here so i thought i'd rack you brains i'm installing a system where i can play music in 4 different rooms from a central PC/server. i'm putting speakers in each of the rooms and will run the cable down to the sound card on the PC/server. i want to install 2 interfaces, one upstairs, one downstairs... with me so far? the problems i'm having are, a) what type of interface to use, and preferably the interfaces should be touch screen so they can be cleanly installed in the rooms without keyboards and mice. any suggestions of interfaces, sound cards, hints and tips etc.... cheers! |

QUOTE(pete_at_raspberry @ Dec 16 2005, 18:07) some more background to what you would expect to work would be good! I know how it all works, and this leads me to expect no drag and drop at all! But thats just my view... Pete for the drag and drop aspect i was thinking if you open the file explorer on the phone you could drag music, photos, etc straight from "my documents" on the pc to explorer on the phone and visa versa... beats doing it through active sync, and would also make the phone more like an extra drive in the pc, which would be a bonus for me certainly... QUOTE Using the phone as a second monitor: Well, nice idea but it isn't really what True Connect is about. I recall that there is a product out there for PPC which does this already. The screen size for phones, and the speed of communication is going to make a full-screen app a bit clunky, but I guess its doable. Maybe one day. And see the above: You can run apps like messenger and media player on the phone already - and having True Connect means they become that much more usable when you are sat at the PC. yes, the phone already has msn and media player, but having the tinny speaker blaring out when you are at the pc would be pointless or connecting to gps to use your phones MSN would be pricey... maybe if you reduced the quality of the programs that are being displayed on the phone (much the way VNC server can reduce the quality of a remote desktop to save bandwidth) this would make it viable to move a messenger window or whatever from monitor to phone fluidly? i really like this app so far... it certainly grabbed my interest, i'm a bit of a freak for multiple monitors and the opportunity to add just one more is too good to pass up well done, nice app, hope this helped |

Ted came home from the club late one Friday evening stinking drunk, as he often did, and crept into bed beside his wife who was already asleep. He gave a peck on the cheek and fell asleep. When he awoke he found a strange man standing at the end of his bed wearing a long flowing white robe. "Who the hell are you?" Demanded Ted, "and what are you doing in my bedroom?". The mysterious Man answered "This isn't your bedroom and I'm St Peter". Ted was stunned "You mean I'm dead!!! That can't be, I have so much To live for, I haven't said goodbye to my family.... you've got to send me back straight away". St Peter replied "Yes you can be reincarnated but there is a catch. We can only send you back as a dog or a hen." Ted was devasted, but knowing there was a farm not far from his house, he asked to be sent back as a hen. A flash of light later he was covered in feathers and clucking around pecking the ground. "This ain't so bad" he thought until he felt this strange feeling welling up inside him. The farmyard rooster strolled over and said "So you're the new hen, how are you enjoying your first day here?" "It's not so bad" replies Ted, "but I have this strange feeling inside like I'm about to explode". "You're ovulating" explained the rooster, "don't tell me you've never laid an egg before". "Never" replies Ted "Well just relax and let it happen" And so he did and after a few uncomfortable seconds later, an egg pops out from under his tail. An immense feeling of relief swept over him and his emotions got the better of him as he experienced motherhood for the first time. When he laid his second egg, the feeling of happiness was overwhelming and he knew that being reincarnated as a hen was the best thing that ever happened to him... ever!!! The joy kept coming and as he was just about to lay his third egg he felt an enormous smack on the back of his head and heard his wife shouting "Ted, wake up you drunken bas*ard, you're sh*ting the bed" |

QUOTE(Disco Stu @ Dec 15 2005, 23:48) What about giving us a 'Say, for instance' example of how this might be a Godsend ? Sometimes the usefulness of software isn't obvious until something specific is identified. maybe drag and drop? also, if you could actually move a window like media player or msn mesenger onto your phone screen, it could save a little bit of space on your monitor(s) |

maybe www.yousendit.com but that is pretty slow... an FTP server or HTTP server would be faster, maybe do the transfer through VNC desktop? |

QUOTE(revolution.cx @ Oct 16 2005, 22:30) I'm in Paris right now (I from the US) and need a couple of phones for a production I'm working on. I do have access to a couple of US GSM phones that could take new SIM cards but really what I'd like is to just buy a couple of new pay as you go (prepaid) phones from a shop here. I can manage enough French to buy bread but I'll be sunk if I just go into a shop and hope for the best. Can anyone tell me what I should be looking for? What phrases? Requirements? Just need a couple basic handsets with 60 minutes use spread over a couple weeks. Any help is greatly appreciated! Like I'll send you free registration codes to our Smartphone products. Thank you! sorry, not been around for the last month but... i lived in france up untill 2 years ago, i don't really know how it works now but back in the day (when i was a peasant) and you wanted a phone, you had to go to a big chain stor like "darty" or some other electrical store. there, a guy who knew nothing of which he spoke, would sell you some dodgy phone with a very very expensive contract (or PAYG) ya know, thinking back, most of my friends didn't even have a landline, i didnt even have a job, and i was drunk the whole time, so maybe i shouldn't even answer this post. umm, phrases.... je cherch un telephone, et er.. pas tros cher ci c'est possible.... damn, my french left me... i need to get out of bloody holland |
