I can count mine on 1 hand. Guess I hang on to them for more than 3 months wink.gif

1). Nokia 5110 (still kicking)

2&3&4). Ericsson T28s (had an unfortunate meeting with several automobiles. Found it later, around the thickness of a Moto V3 RAZR). Actually, if you want to be technical about it, I had 3 of these, the first 2 replaced under warranty (#1 wouldn't charge the battery, #2 decided it wouldn't contact the base cell at all and swore black & blue that there was no network. Got fixed and did the same thing 3 days later)

5). Nokia 3315 (POS ended up doing what they all seem to do - after around 6 months, battery refused to hold a charge)

6). Siemens S55 (awesome phone, and the first phone I started customising the OS)

7). O2 Xphone II (HTC Feeler)

That's about 1 phone a year...

hmmm... no I have a proxy that sits between me and the outside world, and that's throwing the same error.

I'll try from a different place. It's interesting that the Cell switcher dowsn't give the same problem (that works just fine!)

EDIT: works fine through a different connection.

Good stuff!

Hi Maniac

Looks like a great app, more featured than the autokeylock I was using before.

When trying to dl the version for WM2k3, I get a corrupted file. Winzip says the CAB file is corrupt or incomplete. When the download is finished, the filesize is 785 bytes.

Is this right? Is there a problem with the version on your web page?

I wonder when (if???) O2 are going to be doing the same thing?

Since the SP3i/QTek 8020/O2 xphone II are identical hardware...

I'd hate for all us O2 owners to be stuck without the new stuff as well sad.gif

Is there a way to cross-flash these devices, or is that forbidden to talk about here?

So after around 40 minutes of playing, this still refuses to work on my HTC Feeler (SP2003SE).

The best I can get is from the registry value behind the button to open tmail at the account selection screen (SMS, MMS, or outlook).

All other information after the first space (any of the command line options, in other words) are either ignored or throw an error ("... can't find component...") depending on what I do with double quotes.

I can use the button to successfully call a shortcut like others in this thread have, but curiously, this not only opens the "Compose Message" screen for SMS but ALSO still opens the "contacts" screen (double banger!)

I'll play some more when I have some free time, but if anyone has any ideas on what else to try, I'll try 'em.

It seems, for me at least, you can not set custom ringtones to anything other than .wav files. But they can be on the storage card.

ok, I'll give that a try - I change mine to WMAs for space reasons.

Thanks for the heads-up!

Thanks BigDan

Just tried it and I get a different error. All my ringtones suddenly appear twice in the list in settings->sounds (!) and no matter what ringtone I choose (even "none"!) I get the message "The ring tone you have chosen does not appear to be working properly. You may wish to change it for another one" and then dumps me back into settings.

So it looks like there may be no clear solution to this at all, other than to have the main ringtone ont he storage card and the others on the phone, but honestly, what's the point in that?

ok. I've got an XphoneII (HTC Feeler, Smartphone 2003).

I can assign ringtones from either the phone internal storage ir from mini-SD.

ok now HERE'S the problem:

edit: I found out the problem. A main (or default) ringtone that's set is "settings" can be stored on either the storage card or the phone itself. Not a problem.

Individual custom ringtones (set in the person's contacts record) can only use ringtones that are stored in memory on the phone. It will not see ringtones that are stored on the storage card.

Follow me, or have I not had enough caffeine yet?

edit: So.... any way to fix the individual tones so they do recognise tones on the storage card?

I see a lot of homescreens out there which require the "orange" plugin for smartphone.

For those of us not on Orange (or not even in the UK):

What does this plugin do?

Is it possible to add this plugin to the phone without flashing to an Orange ROM?

Do I *want* to install the plugin if it's possible and the plugin is availabe somewhere?

heh, I love hacking registries!

Been doing it since win95. Haven't had one corrupted yet (touch wood).

You can do some NEAT stuff, but you gotta be comfortable doing it...

Yeah, my HTC Feeler (XPhoneII) does it.

I recall that my MP3 CD player (iRiver SlimX iMP-350) had a similar problem where it would *pause* for a fraction of a second every 8 minutes on really long MP3s.

Turns out it was happening because the buffer could only hold 8 minutes of music. So every 8 minutes, there's this section in the music that hadn't been stitched up properly.

Good news is that iRiver were able to resolve their problem, so there's hopefully no reason why this one cantt be resolved, either.

Dunno if this is a bug or intended, Stomski, but I just noticed this with the calendar:

If you have an appointment at a particular time (say, 5:00PM), the "Upcoming Appointments" bar on the Homescreen seems to show "5:00PMYour Next Appointment"

ie no space between the time and the text for the appointment.

Is this design, an "undocumented feature" in the calendar plugin, or my pickiness once more?

Here's a naive question.

Went to web page of Think Outside. When I checked for products that fit the O2 Xphone II it came up blank. But check for i-mate SP3i and a couple of products appear.

How different are the variations on this phone?
*

I would LOVE to know that myself. Hardware-wise the phones are identical except for a couple of labels and some paint changes. Software/ROM wise, I have NO idea.

I am going to australia in 2 weeks, and if possible, i would like to do the following:

1.  SIM unlock my AudiovoxSMT5600 via Florin

2.  Purchase a Pay as you Go SIM card while in australia probably from Vodafone (possible?)

3.  Use the phone while i'm there to make calls to other Australian phone numbers, just as if i lived there.
*

1. Can't help ya there mate.

2. All the major providers supply pre-pay SIMs. Vodafone, Optus, Telstra, etc. Vodafone's one is the "Red SIM pack"

3. Should work. You say your phone is 850, but if it's dual/tri-band, it should also support 1800MHz. If it does, you're golden, but you might not have quite as much service as a 900/1800 phone.

Hmmm... Wonder if this ROM will work with the O2 XphoneII, since it's basically the same phone.

Or if HTC/O2 have a ROM int he works for that phone...

Although, going through the issues list that this latest ROM for iMate, I don't have many/any of those issues with the O2.

As mentioned previously, I have an O2 Xphone II which is a HTC Feeler variant with the following versions (hope they mean something):

Windows Mobile 2003 SE (4.21.1088 build 14132)
ROM:
Operator: 1.2.34.21
Manufacturer: 1.1.102.111
Microsoft: 4.21.14132.0
Language: 1.1.102.111
File System: 4.21.14132.0

As for the screens, I think they're great. You've done a great job already.

someone got a link for that???

thanx in advance for the help!!!

I used the Madbeetle one (from Madbeetle). It's a pay one, and didn't work with the home page originally. I had to hack my way through this home screen and the one that came with the madbeetle clock before it all works.

But work it does.

I have no idea which other plugin was originally used.

Oh right.  Mine is \IPSM\.
That would be my guess.

Did you try changing the defaultportraitskin value?  Is this under \Windows Media Player 8\ or is the key elsewhere?

Thanks for your help smile.gif
*

Alrighty. I'm guessing that my phone has WMP 9 or above.

This is the key you'll need to modify to get the WMP skin working:

HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows Media Player\Parameters

The value "DefaultPortraitSkin" needs to have it's data modified from:

\windows\default.skn

to

\storage\application data\home\decepticons\wmplayer.skn

That'll fix it.

Although now I have the "WMP font size not resizing" issue wink.gif

But we're getting there.

UPDATE: I just tried playing the sample movie that came with the phone (WMP trailer 9 seconds long) and got both audio and video.

So you installed to storage card?

Also, does it not have a trailing backslash?
Hmm.  I've not heard of this key.  Can you try the backslash change above, and if that doesn't work, try changing this key to \storage\application data\home\decepticons\wmplayer.skn ?

Thanks!
*

Nope, don't have a storage card. all I did to install was put it on the phone, open file manager and open the files. I think /storage is the designation for this phones internal flash?

Anyways, my bad the skindir key DOES have the trailing backslash.

Changed. Doesn't seem to have helped.

Are there supposed to be any other keys in HKLM\software\microsoft\Windows Media Player8?

All I have in there is Paramaters, and under that Skindir and Skinfile

Seems a little light on to me... Maybe this phone has a different WMP version?

Heh.  Picky picky picky!  Good point about the start up screen tongue.gif
EDIT: Found the graphics for the Decepticon (purple) MTMTE startup so I'll fit that into the next release.

As for WMP... It's not meant to be Soundwave, just Soundwave themed (i.e. button layout and screen).  Do you have PHM Registry Editor?  Could you find out the contents of the following key:
CODE
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows Media Player 8\Parameters\SkinDir

Thanks!
*

Ahhh, she says:

/storage/application data/home/decepticons

Skinfile key is wmplayer.skn

Interestingly, I also have a Windows Media Player vaule. It also has parameters with one called:

defaultportraitskin = /windows/default.skn

Dunno if they help any

HTC Feeler:

Installed fine. Looks good.

Initial "Transformers: More than meets the eye" screen is AUTOBOT. OK, I'm picky. Pedantic, really.

WMP is not skinned to Soundwave. Is there anything special I need to do for that?

Oh, and WMP showed video, but maybe that's because it's not skinned?

Otherwise, excellent.

Better than I could ever do.
