Use to use a program called "sendcontacts" on my c500 which added a menu item to the contacts menu that allowed the smsing emailing of name and tel no.

It only works with wsp2003. Is there an equivalent for wm5

cheers

Sendcontacts is the only one I've seen as well but continue to hope that the developer of said app updates it for WM5.

That being said, it DOES work with the Tornado, albeit slightly buggy in the onscreen menu when you choose the checkboxes for which parts of the contact info you wish to send. But again, it does work and it is free.

You can find it at airfagev.com

Merwin - Thanks for all the hardwork on this program. It's been a big battery saver for me and allows me to run my movies without any lag when bundling with the OMAP overclocker. On a different note, I have one possible bug to report.

Using my SDA U.S. Version flashed with the latest Imate SP5m ROM (i-mate SP5m WWE 2.6.331.2), I continue to experience an issue using PowerControl where by screen blacks out but the backlight still works (e.g. The screen is dark black but the keyboard lights up and I can see the backlight around the black screen). It is not a phone lock up (nor is the phone 'locked' as I can still power down the phone and reboot. This only occurs when running PowerControl.

I've been trying to replicate it but have yet to pin down exacts. However, it seems to happen after the phone has been in standby mode for a significant period of time and then I press a key to take it out of standby.

Anyone else experience this or is it just me?

Here's a camera tweak I use that adds a date folder in your default picture/video save area for every picture or video you take.

hklm/software/htc/camera/captparam

Change value name: EnableDateFolder value to a 1 to enable; 0 to disable

I have only tested this on the most recent I-Mate SP5m ROM (i-mate SP5m WWE 2.6.331.2 )and do not know how it would work on others.

I got it from here. At the bottom. You have to login with your imate ID.

You can do the same thing by tweaking your registry:

hklm/software/htc/KEYPAD/

Change value name: KB_LIGHT_TIMEOUT value to a higher number that fits your liking as to how long you want the keypad to stay on when pressed.

I have only tested this on the most recent I-Mate SP5m ROM (i-mate SP5m WWE 2.6.331.2 )and do not know how it would work on others.

4Smartphone, who I use, give you the full monty - ActiveSync, Web, WAP, IMAP, POP, SMTP AND RPC over HTTP for only $6.99 per month, and as jimbouk points out, a full version of Outlook 2003! ohmy.gif

I'm well pleased with my account!

Okay, okay, okay already, Paul. You convinced me to give 4Smartphone a try. And I have to say, you were right (I feel a bit like that's what my mother wanted me to tell her after all the hard years)! tongue.gif

The setup was almost idiot proof and the price is quite fair for what you get.

Thanks!

So at the end of the day, they offer a free basic hosted exchange service with lots of limitations or you can sign up with them for a similar service to all the other providers. Over at imateforum.com a lot of imate owners have signed up for 4smartphone's paid for service and like it - and pretty much all of them slag of clubimate's free exchange service (as its too limited and doesn't work properly).

There's no such thing as a free lunch...

Does 4smartphone allow for synching with desktop Outlook at a more reasonable price?

T-Mobile SDA U.S. Version. I'm feeling a little slow after comparing to other WM5. At least my 2gb SD card was fast.

I want to beta the archive features but I cannot get an account setup. I continue to get the error "You do not have an active account. Signup failed or you did not sign up."

How does one sign up? I tried entering a password in on both PMVault and PM Recorder in the "Sign Up" section where it prompts: "You must first sign up for this service. Please enter a password below to sign up."

It displays my phone # correctly and also lists it as my account # in PMVault.

Ideas? Anyone else experience this?

I have the T-Mobile SDA II (U.S. Version) aka HTC Tornado. Record features work flawlessly for both sides of the conversation BTW.

That is a fabulous deal! I can't wait to have smartphone integration!

I've been using the service in the U.S. nearly a year now with my Imate SP3i as a wireless modem which gives me more-than-respectful surfing speeds (with graphics reduced) wirlessly over GPRS (I have the unlimited data plan with T-Mobile US).

My only annoyance is the lack of integration with Firefox on secure sites - you have to manually turn off the Onspeed service to get it to work (It works fine with IE BTW). Not bad for one year of use...only one issue IMHO.

Now if only I could get this price with renewals smile.gif

Regards,

Craig

I'm driving myself nuts trying to find anyone who has a solution to this problem of MSN Messenger logging itself out. I have an U.S. I-Mate SP3i Smartphone with the Unlimited Internet from T-Mobile US. I have the most up-to-date firmware and the updated Messenger client.

I've had my phone over a year now and just decided to try out messenging for the first time. I thought this was a great way to stay in touch with my wife at home without incurring texting charges. However, messenger logs itself out after a period of time which defeats the whole reason to use Messenger as far as my needs go.

In my time searching here and Google, I've heard that perhaps the network my be to blame by dropping the GPRS connection and/or an incoming/outgoing call suspending the GPRS without renewing it....but this logging out happens regardless of whether a call comes in or not.

I also read that the Activesync connection to the computer can cause it to fail; but again, it logs out when I have not had it connected to my computer.

I've not nailed down a time between time-outs but it's at least an hour.

I'm hoping that someone has an idea as you all are so nice on the forums here!!!

Thanks for any help you can offer,

Craig Rens

Great work! I've been using it for the last couple days without a hitch!

Down the road, would there be any way to have an alternative home screen that still includes the calendar appointment as well as the celltrack location?

I use Opera for my main browsing and IE for WAP. Select menu, options, connections, unselect auto detect settings and select WAP Network. That fixed it for me.

Hi all,

Has anyone been able to successfully use the setting "sync when new items arrive" with Clubimate's exchange server and their Imate Smartphone? sad.gif If so, what settings did you use with Activesync on the mobile device?

I find the whole thing rather odd as sometimes it works but usually it doesn't (I get the infamous "Your account could not be configufred to sync as new items arrive. Select a different ActiveSync mobile schedule or contact your Microsoft Exchange Administrator." Usually it works when I fiddle with the settings relating to "Peak Times" or "Off-peak Times."

And, uh, please don't tell me to contact the server administrator as I have and if you've owned an I-mate product you know that they are completely unresponsive unless you do a walk in to their hq in Dubai.

Hi all,

I've done some searches on MoDaCo that do not seem to point to this exact problem: My MiniSD card "disappears" as a folder in both Activesync and on Smart Explorer (If I've miscalculating in my search, feel free to point me to the appropriate topic). Obviously quite frustrating as I have many applications loaded on the card.

However, if I put it into the SD adapter and access it on my computer, all folders and data appear and work just fine. Hence, I've ruled out it being a bad SD card like I've seen on other posts.

Has anyone else with a C500 or variant thereof had this problem as well?

I've hosed out the phone's connecters using compressed air and given them a rub down with a pencil eraser to make sure the connections were clean. There is a minute bit of play from left to right in the miniSD connector; however the connectors appear shiny and new (for what that is worth).

I've had this problem off and on since owning the phone for the past two months. If I reset the device to factory, the card 'reappears.' which leads me to believe this is a software or firmware issue. And, if that were the case, I would expect others to have the same problem. I-Mate support does not return e-mails and I would not even begin to think of asking online support this question as they would tell me to to wait for the next ROM upgrade without even knowing the issue.

While I don't expect to solve this issue, it would make me feel better if I were not alone. biggrin.gif

I can't find the topic about how to shorten the SMS Keypress Delay. If i e.g. want  to type two times the letter e in a word in a row, i have to wait for half a second after the first one, to type the second character on the same key. I know there is a hint to shorten this delay through the registry.

Anybody can help?
*

Try this utility:

RJV RegTweaks UI

It offers a number of registry tweaks including one that wll reduce the keypress delay to less than what is offered through the phone settings. Do a google search and you'll find it. Or go to http://www.airfagev.com and check out the RJV applications.

Have you tried resetting the phone by holding down both soft keys as it is turning off and on? If it works properly you will get an option to reset the phone to its default state.

For folks who may be looking for this in the future, T-Mobile does not support the call barring feature in the U.S. according to technical support.

I was looking at Think Outsides IR Keyboards and noticed that they indicate it works with some but not all Smartphones.  Is this true, or are they just stating that it has not been tested with some smartphones?

I would think that sense one WM smartphone runs the same operating system as another, as long as it has WM and an IR port the compatability should be pretty uniform.  Am I just way off in my thinking or is it reasonable to assume that it the IR keyboard works with most WM smartphones with an IR port?

Thanks,

Brian

I have no technical answer for you, but expect that the IR keyboard will only work with the smartphones they have listed on their website (www.thinkoutside.com)

Additionally, if you have the US version of the SP3i, that will does not appear to work with the Think Outside IR keyboard (in my experience and in my searchings of the web and forums), although the World Version of the SP3i has been tested and verfied according to Think Outside.

Maybe we need a new thread to make up our best guesses at the behind-the-scenes workings of Club I-Mate? biggrin.gif

This is rather ridiculous. Here's my transcript with a club i-mate representative who abrubtly left my session. My 'subject' was "I have U.S. version of the SP3i, should I install the ROM upgrade listed on your website?".

See if anyone here can figure this out:

You're now talking to Mike

Mike> Welcome to club i-mate support. My name is Mike, how can I help you today?
Mike> Hi
Craig Rens> Hi, per my subject, what do you think?
Mike> yes,,
Craig Rens> Yes I should? Why is the ROM v. 2.0.33.31 then?
Mike> just a sec
Craig Rens> okay.
Mike> sorry
Mike> what ROM version are you refering to
Mike> the latest one is 1.2.33.21
Craig Rens> Hold on on sec...
Mike> ok..
Craig Rens> MY Operator rom is 2.0.33.31, Manufacturer ROM is 1.1.114.115
Craig Rens> Maybe I'm just a bit daft?
Craig Rens> That is what is listed on my 'About' page.
Mike> ok..
Craig Rens> Is the update related to the manufacturer's ROM???
Mike> well anyways the latest one is the one i refered to.
Mike> and you can download the lateset one
Craig Rens> Will this overwrite my Window's media player 10?
Craig Rens> As I understand that your *new* ROm does not contain v. 10?
Mike> yes it will
Craig Rens> Sorry, it will overwrite Media Player 10?
Mike> yes..it will
Craig Rens> Will it overwrite any other software that is resident in my current ROM version?
Mike> after the upgarde it will bring the device back to the factory settings
Mike> that means it will bring it back as how you received it new
Mike> clearing any third party software
Mike> and your presonel data
Mike> so i suggest you backup what ever you can
Craig Rens> I'm confused. When I received my SP3i new, I had Media Player 10 on it. But you're saying that your ROM update will clear that? I don't understand.
Craig Rens> Hello?
Mike> oops sorry
Mike> i confused it as the SP3
Mike> it has the player 10
Mike> sorry for wasting your time
Craig Rens> But the SP3i has a new ROM upgrade on your website as of 3/10/05....should *this* be installed on my US version or not???
Mike> yes..
Craig Rens> Okay, same question as before then, why does my phone have bversion 2.0.33.31 and will the new ROM upgrade overwrite WM 10?
Mike> that is the older one and the player will not be overwritten
Craig Rens> Curiously, as I'm going to post your responds to the forums at Modaco, do you know why the US version is listed as a v. 2.xx.xx.xx? as the upgrade is only a 1.xx.xx.xx?
Mike> 2.0****
Mike> 1.2**
