This is a bit confusing but are people having problems with gps detection on orange branded phones?I am considering buying a new sim free samsung i780 from expansys that is an original samsang. Would I have problems with GPS using tomtom if I bought this phone?
Thanks.

Is there anything out there at the moment with similar specs to this but with VGA screen, qwerty keyboard and 3.5mm audio jack? The i-mate Ultimate 8502 caught my attention but it hasn't got a VGA screen, forward facing camera, SDHC slot or 3.5mm audio jack. Anything in the pipeline with anything near what I want?

Does the status change to something else after "Repaired"?

Mine has said repaired since 11:22am yesterday.  Nothing appeared to happen to it today. I mean, if it was fixed yesterday, i'd have thought it would have been sent back to me yesterday or today.  :?:

24/08/2005 11:07:58  RECEIVED
25/08/2005 11:20:52  REPAIRING
25/08/2005 11:22:07  REPAIRED

Not going to get it back til at least Wednesday i'd expect.  sad.gif

hi ok i just need some help before i send off my c500, as it has got loads of dust and the ir dnt work and the screen randonly turns off. I would like to know:
-Should i hard reset the phone before sending 2 get rid of any software which HTC could deem illegal?
-Should i simlock the phone so only orange sims will work otherwise HTC might void the warranty?
-If HTC update the phone to the latest ROM 4.2.1.1 will i b able to sim unlock it again to use O2?

Thx for the advise!!!!!!!!!!!!

Um u need 2 have a WLAN (Wi-FI) card which usually comes in the form of a SD Card BUT the C500 uses a MINI-SD CARD which is behind the battery and so far there is nobody making MINI-SD Wi-Fi cards as they are too small some people have mentioned companies making MINI-SD Wi-Fi cards but they are slightly bigger and cannot fit in the C500 (may be with some modification of the insides) but i dunno if they will work being behind the battery and also the phone may not be able to handle the card due to limitations. But i doubt anyone can have Wi-Fi on their C500!!

QUOTE(Dr Who @ Jul 14 2005, 13:53)
If you have Orange Care I would push to get it swapped under the terms of that. I phoned three of four times and each time got told, "No", although towards the end they said they would swap it but if it wasn't THAT bad then i would be charged. i wondered what qualified THAT bad so I went into an Orange shop and had one of the bods in the shop phone Orange CS and confirm that the problem was BAD. Try picking a quiet shop/go at a quiet time.

Thanks for that but the only orange shop that i know of is in the Bullring and i think thats always busy but i might try that out still if i get the time. cheers wink.gif

Hi I need help with my C500 as the dust build up is just really obscuring the screen and basically blocking the screen completely in direct sunlight, almost rendering it useless. I bought my C500 from www.mobiledealer.co.uk. I want some advice on what to do to get the problem fixed (temporally cleaned). Should I get the phone fixed (temporally cleaned) under the warranty by HTC directly or phone orange to get them to sort something out. I've had the phone since march and I phoned orange before but they just said that they cant do anything about it sorry bye! If I should get it done via HTC whats the process like can someone tell me it step by step.
THANKS!!!!!!!!!! tongue.gif

Hey im new to this forum just registered after i bought my C500 which arrived Saturday morning. I heard about the dust issue before hand but never heard anything as bad as on this forum. I had the phone for almost 3 days and got to say it is brilliant phone with no major issues apart from **cough** windows based operating system biggrin.gif . There is only a single speckle of dust which is in the left middle part of the screen and only noticable when the screen is darker i.e. black. Im pressuming my phone is the phrased "2nd Generation" C500 ( it is the black model ) as it has noticable dust in the corners of the screen. I bought the phone off the net but I am jus wondering if anyone knows how to open the phone so i could have a look at the problem and try to fix it myself tongue.gif as it seems many people are still having problems with replacment phones. Im sure i could solve the problem myself but would this affect the warranty at all and if it did would it be worth sorting the problem myself to sacrifice the warranty?

Thanks for the advice!!!!!!! laugh.gif
