I bought them a couple of weeks back, but would hardly call them a bargain.

I already had TT6, and should have been offered a substantially reduced upgrade price.

true, pricing is attractive.

But how to get mapupdates via mapshare?? Since the widespread version 7.450 build 9028 isn't officially supported by Tomtom, and neither does mapshare work correctly with tomtom home 2.3 (gives a notification that mapshare isn't supported with this map or device).

the O2 version is build 9029. But if this supports mapshare is still unclear.

I went to sign up but it is full up sad.gif You can sign up for an email when a space becomes available. Any one already on it?
Rob.

hmm, i signed up yesterday and got access immediately.

So far i am not so impressed; the desktop version allows only to upload one file at each time; multi upload is not yet supported.
Uploading was also slow despite having a 24Mb/sec down and 2.5Mb/sec upload.

But hey it is still beta and i am confident it will become a much better service.

or is it the P3702 version of Touch diamond to be sold in Asia.
This phone has a somewhat different body, is slightly thicker and has the touchwheel lifted.

I have an E650 on Orange and i work in an Orange shop so i do have the joy of playing with most of the SPV's / or HTC's as they are now branded. From this i have noticed that the Touch, now discontinued, has Windows Live software installed on the device, this is something i would prefer to have on my E650 as the web based system isn't always great. Is there anyway to add this to the device, i have trawled the web to see if there is anywhere to get it from but it would seem not. It would appear to me that it is only on WM6 Pro or equivilent.

Any ideas guys? Is it somehting that can be taken somehow from one of these devices and put on mine?

Also having never had either the HTC S710 / S730 versions i don't know if they come with it.
.G.

If you are able to firmware upgrade your device you could install the Dutch Orange SPV650 firmware (which includes the English language). This firmware has the messenger inside.

I am trying to get the wifi working on the S710. I have to put the MAC address of the smartphone into the router. Does anybody know where I can find the MAC address of the HTC S710? Thanks in advance!

Enable wifi in the Comm Manager, and look under connection status in the WLAN menu. There it is listed.
Alternative: I temporary disabled the MAC access list, and was able to see which mac adress the smartphone has in DHCP status lists.

On another forum someone deleted the "HKLM\Software\HTC\Nokia CK7W" registry key and that solved the problem of that the other side doesn't hear you very well (low volume).

Haven't tried that yet, going to, but instead of deleting i just rename the key (for easy restore).
Going to test it tommorow in the car to work.

if someone find a solution?

I welkome the answer too.
Three HTC phone's, and two Nokia C7-7W car-kits further (standard with my company) i still have problems.

Orange C500; great WM2003 phone, but in combination with the C7-7W people complained about the echo and i also recognized an echo. In the end i used a wired ear headset.
QTEK 8310; good WM5 phone, but in combination with the C7-7W people still complain about the echo (bluetooth connected). I didn't hear an echo.
HTC VOX; fantastic WM6 phone, but now in combination with a new C7-7W people complain that they hardly hear me (bluetooth connected). I am shouting in my car.

And i believe i am not the only one with car-kit troubles.

Great, the new Windows Mobile Device Center 6.1 under Vista fixes the error that during syncing when you slide open your keyboard that sync immediatly stops. The connection now keeps existing correctly.

Yes, under \windows\start menu you can create your own folders and move the shortcuts. But remember that initially the .lnk files are read-only and you have to remove that attribute first.

the toolbar likely contains the last programs you have run (but caches the icon). Run some other applications and it goes away.
Or if it is another toolbar, like facade, it comes with a customization application which you can use to configure another application on the toolbar.

true, that is reported on the HTC website, and also reported when you choose info under settings in your vox device.
However, this was reported by OmapClock. Might be an issue with OmapCLock not correctly calculating the CPU speed.

Hi,

I just bought htc vox last week and didnt get microSD card, im waiting for 4GB MicroSD to come out, i found this on mobymemory forums that its releasing end of April or beginning of May.

http://forums.mobymemory.com/shwmessage.as...;MessageID=5716

just wondering if it will work with Vox and will it show full 4GB capacity, e.g. 3840MB something like..

when i get it il let you guys know what happens.

cheers.

They are talking about the MicroSDHC memory cards, not MicroSD!
Most likely the Vox phone isn't compatible with the MicroSDHC standard (as no other HTC phone is).

Besides that, a 4GB card is interesting, but it isn't a really fast card, it would likely slow down your phone.

Will my Current C550 512MB card fit in the E650, as I am now so confused about Micro and mini SD cards.

No, microSD is much smaller then miniSD

Here in the Netherlands, my Orange E650 included a 512MB MicroSD card.
You can copy the Tomtom map data to this card. But remember that you need to reregister, and so you might need to contact the Tomtom support desk.

QUOTE(Samsonite @ Apr 22 2007, 14:42) *
hmm I have tried it and it doesn't recognise the E650 as a model and i have waited about half hour for the file to arrive..
Any ideas how long the system takes and d'ya think it's a problem that it doesn't pick up on the model correctly?

As samsonite mentions read that thread. It brings you to this website http://spvunlock.rd.francetelecom.com/

fill in the details, and find some hours later a download link in your email.
Download the file, and run it on your phone. This works right away, but afterwards your phone still is not completely application unlocked.

I still found that some applications as STGEdit (for registry editing) didn't work as i got an access denied error (application is not digitally signed). But Resco Explorer for e.g. comes with an registry editor that works fine, as there are others available.

Now you can change the following registry key:

Change under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\Policies\Policies:
- DWORD "1001" to 1
- DWORD "1005" to 40

Reboot and you can install most applications.

The Vox (at least mine E650) appears to be a good and stable overclocker.
I noticed that the standard CPU clock is 186Mhz, but i was able to overclock using omapclock to 276Mhz and have it still stable.
I did some test, with SKLite and this is what I got.

with the standard 186Mhz clockspeed:
Integer (hanoi towers): 102.2342 Moves/25 usec
Floating Point (whetstone): 2.565 MWIPS
Internal RAM: 219 speed index
Draw bitmaps: 374 speed index
Main storage (write): 995.46 KB/sec
Main storage (read): 4196.72 KB/sec

On 276Mhz clockspeed increased with OMAP Clock 2:
Integer (hanoi towers): 152.5551 Moves/25 usec
Floating Point (whetstone): 3.824 MWIPS
Internal RAM: 330 speed index
Draw bitmaps: 562 speed index
Main storage (write): 1334.49 KB/sec
Main storage (read): 6269.39 KB/sec

My previous Tornado smartphone was a bad overclocker; already locked up when i increased cpu speed from 181 to 201Mhz.

Off course, overclocking will drain your battery and is can damage your phone. Do with care, and on your own risk. You are warned.

In Vista, when during copying or syncing data between the computer and the Vox smartphone you open the keyboard, the syncing fails immediatly.
Can someone confirm this too and knows a workaround.

I did several test by copying files to the microSD and then opening the keyboard. I have a SPV e650

QUOTE(mini_man @ Dec 29 2006, 21:34) *
hmm but I can assure you that he 4gb mini sd that they sell works in C500 C550 C600 and a vario!

Sam

I have the same problems with the mobymemory 4GB miniSD on my QTEK 8310 Applications which are stored, write or read from the memorycard let my phone hang. They also corrupt the filesystem (chkdsk to confirm); i formatted the card several times in FAT and FAT32.

I mailed HTC and they said 4GB miniSD wasn't supported (only 2GB max) even though on their website they claim miniSD up to 12GB should be supported. Now HTC say that is an error on their website which they fix.

In the end i even partitioned the card (now recognized als '/storage card' (2GB) and '/storage card2' (1.9 or better the rest of the 4GB) but still i have problems.

So far my miniSD 4GB is useless. Awaiting support from mobymemory, but during these christmas days is was in no luck to get any email response yet.

I am out of options what to do; the card is useless to me. I placed back my 2GB card (from mobymemory too) which works perfectly. Hoping i get help from mobymemory soon, still might that i just got a faulty one.

It's nothing to do with bad coding. As yet Windows Mobile PocketPC and Smartphone have not fully intrigrated into one OS. Until they do you can not claim bad coding by anyone. TomTom have not concentrated on the Windows Smartphone UI release it's as simple as that.

Since some have TT6 hacked PDA version running on their WM Smartphone, this proves that the navigation part isn't the problem. Problem only exist in some data entry and selection screens (e.g. menu's etc). This was easy to overcome, since they could copy source from TT5 Mobile and extend it. Can't be a big deal.

Can somebody send me this .exe file ? Should be in Windows\WLANUtility catalog (unhide system files first).
It's not available in the latesr ROM verion but is very useful.
my email: puoyui@yahoo.com
Actually it relates to my main problem with the WiFi set-up.
I have Qtek 8310 with the latest ROM for imate SP5 ( 2.6.332.1).
Using WiFi having the "connected to the network " status I can't open any www sites. Tried many times with different open access points but every time the message is :
'the page cannot be found" . I'm out of ideas .....
Can anybody help me ....what the reason of this might be ?
By the way I can easily surf on the internet while connected to the desktop via ActiveSync.
Moreover my PC desktop with the WiFi on USB doesn't see my Qtek (had no problems with my PDA which easily connected to my PC). My Qtek doesn't see my PC either?!. Don't know what to do....

Thanks a lot in advance !

Just got a new 8310 since thuesday and have the same issue here. Cannot connect via WIFI to the Internet.
Have a connection to my wireless network, hence can even ping my device (and see it in my WIFI router) but PIE only gives me the message of 'the page cannot be found'. sad.gif Opening local html files works though.

Is there a way to resize the internal storage, also known as IPSM, to gain more RAM (or less).

On my PPC 3870 I have a standard utility who does so.

On my smartphone, a c500, the internal storage is around 21 MB in size.

Since many of us have a external storage, and "data' like photos, ringtones etc. can be stored there, there is little need for such a large internal storage. 10MB would be more than suitable, and this would increase main memory by some 11MB (most of the smartphones have some 9MB RAM left after booting up, so it doubles).
