I use S2U2 (google for it) You can set it to not turn off the phone, but the phone is locked with the backlight off.

Bah!! Just phoned up to see if I can upgrade early but no, not until 27th December.

The phone would cost £300+ from them as a pay-as-you go. sad.gif

Hmmm! how much do Vario 3's sell for second hand?

Whoo Hooo! Disabling Assisted GPS solves the GPS lockups. At least for me.

Found the info within the many posts of the ROM i had flashed. Someone had a similar prob with a different app.

I've just encountered the same locking up with Memory Map after updating to the L26 V5 6.1 rom over at xda.

Thanks for the work around. Very annoying though.

(Wonders if he should have stayed with the T-Mobile 6.0 ROM)

i've not tried it, but could you not create a Googlemail account and use their authentication-required smtp server to also be the mail relay for another account? I guess that would be connection independent?

QUOTE(jontelfer @ Mar 28 2008, 06:41) *
Is there a way round this?

So I have access to a couple of smtp servers (my ISP, t-mobile etc) but they don't work when I'm connected to alternative networks i.e. tmobile smtp won't relay mail that comes through my house wifi. At the moment I've chosen to use the t-mobile smtp so I can send mail when I'm out and about, which means I can't send mail when I'm connected to my router at home.

This can't be that unusual a problem - what does everyone else do? It occurs to me that one way round it would be to have the mail program sense the active connection and pick an smtp account accordingly. Do any of the programs out there do it? I don't think flexmail does.

Thanks,

Jon

I have exactly the same issue and would love a fix for this. T-mobile reception isn't so good where i live and i often switch over to wifi but obviously can't send email then.
Like you said, a simple app that senses the connection and changes the smtp server would sort this. If isp's allowed the use of their smtp server from any connection there wouldn't be a problem.

Same issue here.

After loading the latest version of ca found that i couldn't validate the navizon credentials. I guessed it was navizon rather than ca.

Good for someone else to confirm though.

Hi Paul,

I have noticed the above within the latest beat but I'm sure i may have seen this in previous versions/beta's.

I can be merrily driving along, get a CA alert, Tomtom comes back to the front etc and then realise i am getting Tomtom POI elerts but not CA alerts. When i check running progs CA is closed.

Any ideas?

thanks

Ok, just uninstalled both v2 (which was working fine) and v3. Manually removed folders from program folder.

Re-installed latest v3 only.

All working fine now.

Happy bunny again. smile.gif

I don't get the option to input my registration info. I really can't remember if i had to on previous v3 releases (even the first v3 release)
I do still have v2 installed so is the registration info picked up from that?

Just wondered if v3 could be thinking i'm not a registered user? (Grabs another handful of straws smile.gif )

pjam

ps the exact message is " unable to check for updates, please try again later "

gprs is working fine.

The updating of the camera database doesn't appear to work. Just updated v2 fine.

I can't be sure but think i had this trouble with the last v3 release.

Anyone else?

Also, selecting the "about" option causes ca to crash.

cheers

Hi,

Is anyone else having real problems with T-Mobile's GPRS at the moment? I struggle to connect or the connection seems to hang. (The phone saying connected but no data is exchanged).

Occasionally, it works ok.

Cheers

yes, i installed to main memory. I have fixed by copying a font file found within the ca3 folder into the windows folder. I'm guessing the problem is that i'm using ca3 beta?

Hi Paul,
Just tried this and it has changed the font within CA. Its all too large now. Uninstallling this cab and reinstaling CA doesn't fix. What was changed within this cab?
Cheers.

CA simply shows no values within the speed, heading, etc.

It certainly seems to lose its gps signal much more than when i had it installed on my previous phone using a bt gps receiver.

I'm sure the position within tomtom continued to update.

I'm sure that cameraware is losing its satelite signal where the likes of tomtom are not. I have noticed on several occasions on my commute where ca loses its signal. Tried tonight with tomtom running also and when ca had lost it's signal, tomtom still had 4 out of 5 bars.

Perhaps there is still a Kaiser GPS issue?

forgot to say, both apps are free. ae button remains completely useable after the trial period, the only thing that happens is that a box pops up every now and then. Saying that, its a great app and doesnt cost much.

google for both

I use S2U2 assigned to a hardware button. A double click of the ok button (using ae button plus) starts s2u2 which then locks the device and turns off the screen.

give it a try
