I would like to know the experiences of people who have tried changing from the i320 to the i600/607.

I am considering upgrading to i600, but to be honest, i expect the i600 to be a bit larger and more clumsy than the i320 (round edges, less wide). It have held the i600 but not tried using it for longer periods. For pocket carrying, the from factor of the i320 is unbeatable in my view and the coolest WM qwerty smartphone there is.

Or is it?

Thanks for letting me know.

Is that the typical i320 on the picture in your wiki?

Mine looks like this:

Check google images. Maybe your picture should represent the majority since there are several form factors of the same phone. The picture is the primary clue as to what phone it is (besides the name). wink.gif

I am looking for a phone to replace my i320. I have been EXTREMELY happy with it. I have owned many smartphones, but the i320 one beats them all.

I want it to be WM6 QWERTY, and similar screen size, preferably landscape. For me one of the key advantages is the size of the i320, especially the slim-ness. Since I use my pocket for it all the time. SO it has to have the same slimness. I have found nothing that beats the form factor of the i320. Nice to haves are better camera and battery life. and gps :-)

What's out there, besides the blackjack or i600 that meets these requirements?

The copy trick worked. Thanks a lot. tongue.gif

Dont have to use Resco Explorer for the copying. Just use the built-in one - it works just as well.

Has anyone found, purchased, and tried a headset adapter for the 320? Do they work?

I have no idea why it doesn't come with a headphone jack. That's insanity!

The issue is already covered in another thread... I guess thats what you are asking for.

I found an adapter (as described), and it works fine, also with taking calls etc.

Good luck, & be sure to report if it worked!

Sorry for the late response. No, this did not work. I copied the two files to my PC, edited properties (removed read only), edited the picture in ms paint (changed one pixel just for testing purposes), resaved, and tried to copy back. BUT I apparently do not have access right to modify or overwrite those images. It works with other images in the smartphone "windows" folder, so apparently special rights is required for some files in that dir.

Hi there,

How do I change the annoying FUN club startupscreen to another picture on startup/shutdown. And maybe also the MS picture?

I guess this is done through the registry settings - and I found a key in LOCAL MACHINE / System / startup value 1 but was not able to change/remove screens when modifying that key.

Another possibility would maybe be to overwrite the pictures in the Windows dir, but I dont have write access right to exactly those pictures on the phone.

Any help appreciated tongue.gif

The handsfree plug on the i320 is common to all Samsungs, so if you find one for another Samsung phone, I bet it would work smile.gif

Thanks!!! The ARM010GBEC version is the right for samsun i320, it says on the page. Google for it and there are several sites. I just bought it on a danish auction site.

I found another adapter type here, which has no features, just the adapter plug. Not sure if it works on the i320 though, but it looks as if it should.

Hi

Is there a way to back up the sms to the computer?

I use Jeyo Mobile Companion for this. It is extremely useful tool, and it can back up your sms'es in files easily recoverable (seperate or entire folders). You can also write SMS'es from your workstation, when you are connected via ActiveSync.

There is only one official version released so a bit pointless asking what version of 6 people are running.
Also as mentioned above there is no Smartphone version of TT6 so you can only be using the PockeetPC version.

As you can see several people are running TomTom 6 on their samsung i320, so it does work. There is a landscape issue with the phone, and I will try the posted utility.

Microsoft Voice Command 1.6 for Smartphone. No more voice tags, just straight-up vioce dialling and commands. With BT support if you have the right BT Headset. smile.gif

Aparrently, the i320 has Built-in voice recognition. It is called the Voice Assist. But it was not included in my phone, probably because I am scandinavian and the Voice Assist requires english name pronounciation?

The mentioned Microsoft product... Is there a trial version somewhere? Seems the 1.6 is a Bit buggy reading several forums about it. 40$ is a lot of money for something that the phone should have already.

Thanks...

I miss the possibility to call my contacts by adding a voice tags to contacts. This was possible in my previouis Qtek 8020 WM2003 phone.

Is this possible for Samsung i320 running WM5? The voice tag option is not available in my standards contacts software.

Thanks for any advice,

Hi,

happy with my i320 i installed Tomtom 6. Installation was fine, but when launching the software (after the tomtom splash screen, which is OK), the software turns the display 90 degrees counterclockwise. The arrow keys actually work and I can access menus. But it displays landscape in this upward fashion and therefore is unusable.

I guess it must be tomtom that somehow detects a landscape screen and wrongly decides to turn the display?

It there a way to control how my OS displays various applications. A registry setting or likewise to control screen direction?

Thanks for any help. smile.gif

I have installed and tested these applications on my Samsung SHG-i320 running smartphone mobile 5 (5.1.195)

Microsoft Pocket Streets 2005 for smartphone works fine. Some menus are not designed for landscape, but can be used. Most importantly, the moving map with GPS uses the entire landscape... love it!

Themechanger 4.1

Several Motorola Q homescreens (same format screen so they are perfect...)

MemoPad

Westtek ClearView Suite (office reader).... some bugs in screen size but document reading works flawlessly.

Games
Bust'Em
Candy Catchup
SPVMan
MAME CE3 :-) but most apps themselves do not work. Working games like 1942 has no sound.
Celldoom
Invaders 5

Oxios Close All
Oxios Hibernate

GPRS trafic monitor

Map 24 mobile

BioLogin

TomTom 6 but with landscape screen issues (see seperate post here)

PocketTV does not work as stated below! It turns the screen upwards when playing fullscreen.
I switched to TMCMP and this is just a very cool media player. Definetely recommended!

I will update this post continuously as I install more applications.

As for other users, I had trouble installing most of your homescreens <_< on my new unlocked Samsung i320.

"Installation was unsuccesful" is the result of installing most of your cab files.

The simple & default black / grey (your other files do not work on the device) work fine.

The one app which I guess is missing is a freeware GPRS counter type of program.  Anyone know of one ?
The Smartexplorer is one hell of a program, and there's some pretty amazing stuff in the pipeline ... so keep up the good work guys !

I am looking for one as well. I guess it's not very trendy to ask for freeware here on modaco (it is somehow implied that you want to pay for 200 utilities for your smartphone), but maybe the GPRS utility is a bit harder to find. I have not been able to find one free, only trial version ones.

Yes it works really well. Did some testing in my appartment - the response is INSTANT and my dongle works quite well so the entire house it covered with the remote.

Some advice:

Best thing is to autostart the tool on your PC, and allow automatic bluetooth connections to your phone. Then all you have to do is start the app on your phone, and the remote is active.

Sorry if this is a really stupid question:

I have a qtek 8020 and downloaded a homepage screen for my phone. Suddenly I found out that is actually has a temperature reading that works?

How can that be? I find no temperature display in the standard phone settings (windows mobile 2003 for smartphone).

Also, the temperature reading is very irregular. Sometimes it actually works, but with very slow updates (every 2-3 minutes). Other times, it stays stuck at 82F even though I put it in the fridge. Rebooting makes no difference, it still stays there.

Yes, my phone works at fridge degrees :-D

Your screenshot looks really cool, but when I installed it (ran the cab file), it wasn't exactly the same thing.

What plugins are required. How does on install this?

The clock, the alarm and the message count - none works. I have installed RJ plugins, smartmonitor, calendar plugin.

Hi!

This is a GREAT homescreen. One of the best and balanced minimalistic homescreen I have seen.

I had en error when applying the theme from themechanger - could not find application data/home/eskalation+ v.0.8_missedcalls.jpg - even though the file was copied to the directoty. Maybe this has something to do with the strange filename you have chosen. (+ character, and empty space)

Hi

I have a Qtek (SPV) 8020 running windows mobile 2003. I would like to be able to remote control my Windows Media Player 10 on my Windows XP PC (with pause, play, previous, next).

Is this possible?

My phone supports bluetooth and I have a bluetooth dongle for my PC.

Thanks for any help.
