You'll need to install RealPlayer, then visit http://www.radiofeeds.co.uk/pda/rp.asp to browse for your BBC station.
There's also a link on there to another site that'll bring you Listen Again shows.

http://www.tuned.mobi/convert.html works on my Pocket PC (WM2003) and on the Palm (Blazer browser).
However, it doesn't seem to work on WM5.0.

Please can you try out the tool and let me know:
a) if it works (i.e. the result doesn't remain at 0)
cool.gif what version of WM you have.

Thanks in advance!

The trick to listen in to RealOne streams is to put your PDA in a DMZ.
This article should explain:
http://www.pocketpcmag.com/blogs/index.php...=344&more=1
As it says, it depends if you're using wi-fi or a GPRS/3G connection.

This article explains how you can install RealOne Player on your WM5.

If you point your Vario's browser towards http://www.radiofeeds.co.uk/pda/wmp.asp , you should be able to listen in to those stations you've mentioned, and many more. When you install the free TCPMP application, you'll also unlock the mp3 streams.

Well, thanks anyway. Now to figure out how to use TCPMP. Is there a manual somewhere? Now that I got that radio station to work, I'd like to have it set as a channel or something.

How about setting the stream URL as a favourite in Pocket IE?
TCPMP should launch off that.

Wow! Worked like a charm! You're the master, I bow humbly. Now that I have this TCPMP (acutally I had it before but I didn't find it very intuitive and so stupidly uninstalled it) can I get rid of Windows Media Player and free up some space? And is there supposed to be some kind of visualization going on in the TCMP screen? Mine is just black.

No, there's no visualisation with TCPMP, which is a bit of a shame, since there's so much screen being unused.
I don't think it's possible to remove WMP, as it's in your ROM rather than RAM, so even if you try to remove it, it'll come back after a reset. (At least that's what happens on the Pocket PCs)

Hi, Stroochy,

The reason why your Windows Media Player will not play the station is because it's not a true WMA file.
Radio stations have found a trick with the newer versions of WMP on the PC where they can disguise a bog-standard mp3 stream and force it to play via Windows Media Player on the PC.

The problem here is that WMP on your mobile doesn't support mp3 streaming (and neither does WMP on the Mac, but radio stations don't care! wink.gif). What I suggest you do is to download an mp3 player such as TCPMP, and from now on, use the Winamp/iTunes (.pls) stream on the station website. You should find that the radio station now plays.

I'm well aware of such tricks-of-the-trade, and have created a website (Radio4PDA) for mobile users to listen to (real) radio stations with little fuss. The URL is in my signature. Although not perfect, I've tried to reduce such numbers of false WMP streams. There are so many still present on there as I can't filter them all out myself, so please feel free to contact me via the website if you encounter any such streams.

Sounds like you will need to be on the Virgin network in that article. If it is by OTA DVB though I can't see how they could prevent it being 'hacked'?

It's not OTA DVB - it's coming from DAB-IP and requires a DRM licence to be downloaded first.

This is pretty good too:

http://www.resco.net/smartphone/radio/default.asp

But its not free.

http://www.radio4pda.com is free.
Just make sure you have RealPlayer and an mp3 player (such as TCPMP) installed, and off you go!

The RadioFeeds website also suggests that the PDA should be in a DMZ, otherwise the RealOne streams WILL time out.

You'll have to ask your provider to put your device in a DMZ.
