I had to open up the port on my router becuase I use a NAT firewall. Also Vista has to be told to allow the connection (or XP firewall if it's an agressive one). Also make sure that you've actually connected to the mobile data provider (sorry if that's patronising) and I also stopped activesync connection to the PC I was trying to control. That fixed the errors that I got. (that and actually installing .net 3.5 on the machine and .net CF 3.5 on the device as the post says to but I ignored first time around (Doh!)) How do i check that the diamond has .net3.5? and if i dont have it where can i download it from? MS? |

Just installed on my Orbit 2 and it has the main parts of functionality. The scroll wheel doesn't work as a zoom but that's about it. Awesome app, wish I'd waited for the Diamond now!!! I downloaded it but cant get it to work on my diamond. Its installed on the diamond, but when i run it and connect i get error while connecting: a socket operation was attempted to an unreachable host. Now i dont think its the Omnipresence software as i also get a connection error using the .net vnc. As a server address i use the IP of my router, with the prot forwarded to my pc. for .net vnc i have the viewer running on my pc and firewall is disabled while i test this out. Omniprescent software errors on my pc as soon as i run it with an unhandled exception error. so any ideas? What am i doing wrong? What other VNC software might work or where can i find Remot edesktop on the diamons (or do i need to install it?) |

I'd rather see this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dx9aOmaAQq8...feature=related A friend of mine had this on his Iphone, plus an app that allowed a music Keyboard and drums to be used by the touch screen. Be nice to have this sort of musical thing for teh diamond. |

Opera isn't made by HTC or WinMo thats made by Opera, the version on the diamond is a Beta, theres still lots of known issues with it, a fair amount centering around the keyboard. These will be fixed by Opera eventually and shouldnt necessarily require a rom update Its not just Opera that does this. I've used IE and seen teh keyboard obscure a search text box, so i couldnt see what i was typing in. There needs to be a way to make sure that when you select a text box as an entry, the keyboard wont obscure the box, maybe just moves it up screen a little. I've also had a bit of lag from when i click a text box, to when it actually allows me to enter text in it. Again this happens on both Opera and IE and i think its just the Sensitivity of teh Diamond. |

I've just noticed taht my Diamond dosen't seem to disconnect from 3G after use. I just used it to check the weather and after it had updated teh report it was still connected to 3G. I had to select the connection and manually select disconnect. As i've only just got the phone and havent had an account number i cant check my billing online so am not sure of the data rates. But, if i have to pay for 3g use, surley by not disconnecting this is gonna cost me? Can i set it to automatically disconnect after say 10secs of no use? I don't want to disable teh 3G as i do find it useful, i just want to make sure it disconnect after use and isnt left conencted (would also save battery power too then) |

The phone does get warm, but it is the area behind the navigation control that gets hot, the battery remains reasonably cool. Of course generating heat requires power, which has to come from the battery, draining it. Yeah i'm not so sure its the battery as its definatley lower. But is it teh LEDs from the button panles? These shouldnt be creating that much heat. What else is there in this area? My Tytn never felt warm on standby or in use. I've had the phone a few days now and i have mixed feelings about it, as it seems, do a few on here. And with this heating buisness, it really is making me wonder if teh phones all its made up to be. Problem is, its too late to send it back now and ask for a different phone. |

Don't know if anyone else has noticed, but on my Diamond at least, the bottom at the back is getting fairly warm to the touch. Its on the opposite side of teh buttons so its not the battery (i hope). I'm assuming its the heat generated by teh LEds but normally this shouldnt be. So does anyone else have this or is my Diamond possibly faulty? |

Does anyone know what version of flash player is on teh Diamond? I thought Youtube used flash and that works fine, but some websites i've been to are asking for flash player 8 to be installed, and that doesn't seem to be available for WinMobbys. This means i cant view these sites. |

having just got my Diamond from Orange i'd thought i'd add my own mp3 ringtone. I'm using the same one i have on teh TyTn, yet on the Diamond it sounds very "Tinny". The sounds not as crisp or clear as teh Tytn. I put this down to the quality of speaker used by HTC this time around. But does anyone else agree with me? Does anyone think the sound on this sounds "weak"? |

You make it sound easy, but are there limitations on this, time etc.? How long would it take, & how can I be sure that I can take my old number back to O "just like that" on this offer? It does all sound a bit too good to be true, if you know what I mean! I asked Orange customer services about moving numbers from 1 contract to another. The guy told me that porting to another networks paygo then back was teh only real way to do it. He also mentioned that some networks want you on thier paygo fore a time period like 1 to 3 months before you could port the number back. Got teh Diamond today, after palcing teh order last night. Great little packaged phone. Also like the Jawbone headset, looks smart. Got the DS as well. Havent used teh phone yet, just truned it on and put it on charge. Been painting and have dirty hands so dont want to mess with it too much yet. All i can say is, it was fast getting here, lets hope it works great too. |

I've just recived your email and applied for the phone. I went for the DS Lite (already have 2 but could sell this one, or use it when i'm away from home) and used the code to get the jawbone. Only thing i'd like to know is, at one point it asked if i already had or prevoiusly had an Orange contract. I typed in my number and carried on. Will this allow me to keep my existing number or will i have anew one, will it use this to cancel my existing contract or just count as an upgrade for teh phone in other words? Cheers guys, looks liek a great deal! |

OK so the diamonds now out on orange, and looks cool. But i've seen the Touch pro with a keyboard (have i got the right one?? looks like diamond but with a slide out keyboard) online in reviews. Now is this just a diamond with keyboard or is it different? And is it better than teh diamond apart from the keyboard?? I have a Tytn and am due an upgrade, but would like to stick to a phone with a qwerty keyboard, but like the look of the Diamond. And finally, one review i saw says the Touch Pro is due late summer, so any ideas on dates??? or should i just go for the Diamond now? I'm going to Norwich tomorrow so will look at a display model if they have one. |

You've probably got water between the screen layers. If you pop it in a warm (not hot) spot for 24 hours it might evaporate out. Take everything off it / out of it including battery, cover, SIM card, memory card / blanking plate etc it will have more chance of evaporating away through the holes and gaps. If you've no airing cupboard, try pointing a 60 watt desk lamp at it from about 30cm away. Be patient, it will take a while and might even leave unwanted deposits behind which could cause ongoing problems. Good luck Paul Tried that but no luck. Touch screen still playing up. Anyway, they came and collected it tonight and supplied a replacement phone. Same model but seems the OS is different. Its still WM but i don't remeber it looking like this or asking as many questions on start up. in a few weeks i think i'm due an upgrade any way, but i do liek the keyboard on this phone, its just that the slide mechanism has started to feel looser, so not sure i want the Hermes mk2. |

Ok so today i got caught in a very hard shower of rain, for all of 300yrds. I had the Hermes in my lunch box open to the elements so it got a little wet. There were some splashes of rain on the touch screen, but it wasnt swimming in water. 4 hours later, the phone was still on but hadnt been used. I go to send a SMS and the touch screen starts doing random things. I clicked on START at the top of the screen and my contacts opened (which is the option on the bottom right of my screen) I try to click the X on top right and the calender opens. So i hold the power button to turn it off, the dialog box opens asking if i'm sure, but i cant select yes or no. Try to dial a number, it randomly calls one and wont let me use the end talk button on screen, it opens the wirless options instead. Now it was only a little damp and i had wiped it dry so i wouldnt have normally expected this sort of thing. Maybe if i'd dropped it in a cup of tea or a puddle it would play up like this but not a few rain drops. Rang Orange care, they took all my details, description of the problem, how it happened etc, and then told me to let it dry for 24hrs!! It was dry after 4 hrs!! I've taken the battery out and left it for 15 mins and tried again but still no luck. Its fekked. Gonna ring them again tomorrow and see what they say. Anyone else had issues like this? |

I couldn't be bothered with black anymore as the last one i flashed was SUPER buggy... (3.0.1).... everything from WiFi to BT didnt work / needed a cab to fix. Am on a different ROM now and it's super, although the whole kernel has been built by chefs and not by M$.. Ok i may have missed it but are Orange releasing this as an upgrade? Will WMo6 be available for Orange customers? And where would i look to find out? I havent a clue when it comes to updating roms and finding them. |

I've copied some wave files into the windows folder of my phone to use as alrets for sms messages etc. When i go to the Notifications screen i can see the waves listed and select them, but they dont play in preview or when i get a message. Windows media player opens and plays them fine but the notifications wont work. Any ideas why? |

How about altering your MMS configuration to not retrieve messages immediately - thus allowing you to screen your messages bofore they are downloaded!! Its a pain and I too get spam SMS/MMS!! Matt This is part of the problem. The last few times i've had these message i only found out when i looked at my fone and found it had connected to the gprs for 30 mins. I never selected the message to download, i wasnt even aware one had come but the phone had connected and downloaded it anyway and failed to disconnect. All i get from orange is that they can't do anything. I don't believe this as i'm sure they could block that number from amking any calls as its on thier network. |

Right latley i've been recieving MMS message from an orange number very similar to mine. I've conatcted orange to say that these messages cause my SPV3100 to conect to the gprs system to download the message but fails to disconnect. Now i dont know the number and have contacted them by txt to say they have the wrong number yet they persist in sending me the message (about 5 or 6 a month now). Orange say theres nothing they can do to stop this apart from having my number changed, why should i as i'm not the one in the wrong plus it's not that easy as its used for work and personal stuff i cant change easily. They also say theres no way to block the number by them. Now i suggested they block callers phone totally until the caller contacts them. Again they say they cant do this due to data protection act (bullocks i say!!!) All they can come up with is installing some third party software to block the number on my phone. Does anyone know of any such software i can use? preferably free? As a last ditch i can report this to the police etc but dont really wanna do that. |

Hi, I've got a SPV M3100, and i can only use wifi and connect to my wireless network at home if i go to a friends place and try to connect to their network by using their encryption key it does not like it, and just says either the network is available or connecting. Has anyone encountered the same problem, and if so how have you overcome this. To be honest i have a similar problem in that i cant get mine to connect to my wifi at home in any form. It dosent seem to matter if the network is open or encrypted or what encryprion is used the mobile just wont connect. I have specified on my router the MAc address of the mobile and put it in the allow device section but it just keeps saying network available but acutally fails to connect. |

Can anyone recommend a good free media player for pocket pc's? I've found windows media player to be next to usless as it wont open files i have, keeps saying the avi format is not supported. I have tried some others but they all seem to be slow opening and playing or else corrupt the video slightly. ALso as i have a M3100 some dont seem to be able to cope with the change in screen format when you open the keyboard. |
