Hey,

I got that one from GPSFORLESS, the phone is "compatible" but it doesnt fit. It wobbles left to right and backwards and forwards. I'm going to try using more bluetack to make a tighter fit.

It's alright...but without extra support form bluetack I worry it may damage the USB connector over time.

How does it get the name? I looked on the website and it didnt answer that. I can understand if it does a lookup in the telephone directory but mobile phones aren't listed anywhere. I was thinking it may get the name and number only if the other person has the program installed but i cant imagine that'd be the case as it would be crap.

They all do that "Heres why the iPhone is way better than this wannabe" "And heres a very quick list of all the reasons this phone is better than the iPhone, i won't elaborate on any of them no matter how big they may be, and then I'll point out they can be fixed by Apps so they're irellevant"

Bias much?

I asked the people at GPSFORLESS on eBay if their dock was compatible, they said they hadn't tried it personally but users said it fitted. Ive ordered one and they said if it doesnt fit i can send it back. Ill let you know how that goes

With the 3G, you can just get a better Com Manager off XDA Devs with a button to turn off 3g quickly. It may "defeat the point of having the phone" but this is the same with every 3g phone, 3g uses more power than 2g, it's the same with the iPhone also. You cant have your cake and eat it smile.gif

I guess that's a taste of personal preference. People have very different ways they listen to music, some want everything on random, some want a few songs over and over, some just want specific albums, some want specific artists, maybe just 5 star music etc.

Thats what the Library browser is there for. With the actual touchflo scrolling I guess they can make you happy by doing it by album, but then how do you go to the next song in that album? And what about the other people who want to quickly flick through songs in any album?

I do often wonder whether we get used to the quirks of Windows Mobile and put up with some severe usability issues just because we expect them to be there, and learn how to ignore them.

One example of a flaw that should been spotted and eliminated during testing is the way the onscreen keyboard blocks out what you are typing in Opera. This is especially noticable when you use search box on the home page (the one that appears when you start Opera). When it first appears, it sits above the keyboard. But as soon as you press a key, the display refreshes and you can't see what you are typing! Or is it only my phone thats doing this? Pocket IE works fine, repositioning the content so that the box you are typing in is always visible. But then Opera renders "proper" pages better.

I think its early days, and I hope these problems will be fixed with future ROM updates.

Opera isn't made by HTC or WinMo thats made by Opera, the version on the diamond is a Beta, theres still lots of known issues with it, a fair amount centering around the keyboard. These will be fixed by Opera eventually and shouldnt necessarily require a rom update

QUOTE(Kushmir @ Jul 28 2008, 16:16) *
That may be true in some cases, but in my case I started using it less and less to try to find out what was draining it and to make it last. My last battery had had about ten overnight charges, there was no noticeable change in battery life. Too many professional reviewers have reported poor battery life for it to be accounted for by the above alone.

The first phone that I had the Carphone Warehouse would not accept that there really was a problem, until they saw how much the battery meter went down in half an hour, with no use. At which point they replaced the battery.

Yesterday I bought one of the Maplin Portable Power Packs, which whilst it does not sort out the problem does provide a work around. It is small and light enough to carry around. Maplin also sell a charger that works from a single AA battery.

Didnt you sell it after you had it two days? How can you have had 10 overnight charges?

It's still "coming soon" for mobiles, i think what they mean is the websites always been around but the application for smartphones is still coming soon.

I may have imagined visting the website though after i saw screenshots.

You can already by 3rd party docks on ebay that come with a slot for a second battery AND a second battery for about 15 - 20 quid. Aka you get the dock, the battery charger, and the spare battery.

You can swap the batteries with the phone still on if you plug it into a miniusb cable to keep it alive - like open heart surgery...

Neil that portable power packs a good idea, i was thinking i could get something like that, put it in my back with my phone, and have the earphones and remote coming out of the backpack into my ears then it'll last for ages.

EDIT: Bit of a problem with my idea, theres only one port on the diamond, so i can either have headphones OR charging, maybe a second battery would be better

Kushmir, hiss and crackle on phone calls? Are you serious! This isn't an analogue phone, it's digital, you can't get hiss and crackle! You either get audio or you dont, if you actually get hissing and crackling then you're speaker must be broken or you're exaggerating

It does get rather hot at the bottom, not burning hot but like bottom of laptop a bit too hot for comfort. It is right below the battery though, not on it. Maybe that would be something to check

With regards to the coolsmartphone reviews remember that was with a test device using an old rom and the whole way through he says he keeps messing up because hes using his wrong hand and holding the camera with his proper hand.

I haven't used bluetooth much, I've used it to pair my phone to the computer and then run SideShow gadgets on the phone and other than a prettier Com manager for turning bluetooth on it's the same as any other WM6 phone. I've heard people saying it works better with their cars like getting the car to display caller id and stuff so you may want to read about that on XDA-Devs.

The opera browser im not sure about yet, it's deffinitely better than IE but it's still in beta and has some issues, for some reason scrolling favourites is mega slow and i often press the wrong one. Also I sometimes like to view pages in their mobile mode (formatted for a small screen) and sometimes i want the full zooming experience but you have to go fairly deep in menus to change the option. Liek i say it's in beta and is constantly being worked on though.

I'll never get bored of touchflo wink.gif I do use the standard WM thing for opening programs though as it shows more on the screen at once

I had a Tytn previously and i was thinking the same as you, i was worried about all the negativity and the fact that i use the keyboard so much even without realising.

Firstly text entry is surprisingly good, almost as fast as a dedicated keyboard. You have lots of big buttons on the screen each with two letters on it. If you use T9 because theres only 2 letters per key it gets the words right almost all the time, i probably only have to tell it a different word once per text which only requires you to tap the word you want on the screen anyway. If you write lots of long emails then it could get frustrating as you know you can type faster on a real keyboard so thats a decision thats down to the person really.

With touchflo, its reponsive enough for me, switching between tabs could be half a second quicker but this has apparently been fixed in the latest rom which ive yet to try

GPS has been perfect for me, very accurate, i tried it in my upstairs bedroom and google maps had the marker over the bloody bedroom!

Not had problems with the phone signal, same as my Tytn

Battery life isn't great, i haven't had a chance to try it out in the field yet but what people say about it getting better the longer you use it appears to be true. I think normally when you buy phones they "condition" the Li-On batteries before it gets to you, maybe they didnt do that with the Diamond.

Coming from a Tytn that looks like it could eat any other phone I'm really liking how slim the phone is, i have the Compact IV and it just looks so pretty, like a normal person phone, so no more of that "I dont care its ugly and big as a house, it has more functions than your phone", the Diamond/Compact is pretty and functional.

I dont get it, whats wrong with a phone coming with TF3D. You can just pretend its not there and turn it off, you dont have to do a registry hack or anything you just turn it off from the today screen then its a normal WM phone.

Does anyone know if there is a VGA version of Yahoo Go, or a way to make it work on the Touch Diamond?

It appears to be made for QVGA phones so some screens are scaled up and others are totally garbled.

I quite want to use the eBay widget to monitor watched auctions, but it's all garbled

Any help appreciated, Thanks.

To test a vista sidebar gadget here.

I've just created this to give a quick overview of how much of the flext balance you have left. I've only tested it with my flext account so have no idea how it will work on other plans. For this to work you'll need to have an account on "My T-Mobile" and be able to view your bill on there.

Anyone who tries this could you please give some feedback on whether it works for you or not?
