If it's his personal device then they shouldn't be allowing an exchange sync anyways. That's the deal though. If you want access to the company's Exchange server, you play by their rules. If not, look at something like Mail2Web which offers free Exchange email (with an @mail2web.com address) and, more usefully, Calendar and Contacts syncing. That's what I've got for my personal phone, so whenever I hard reset, or change ROMs, I get all my contacts back. |

Of course, the Exchange Administrator has set these policies for a reason; since your device has company information on, they're in charge of keeping that information safe. You want to use the facilities, you've got to play by their rules. /Postmaster |

Awesome, thanks Next stop: ask T-Mobile nicely if they'll unlock it. |

Should be a nice easy Yes or No question. When I go to New Zealand later this year, will I be able to put a local SIM in and have it work (assuming I get it SIM unlocked)? Thanks |

I've been anti iPhone from the beginning, but I did cut down my "essentials" list to 3 things: Full Exchange integration 3G (and having used it, HSDPA) Built-in GPS I gave up on it after I was confidently assured by my new Head of IT a few months ago that Apple would never go to Microsoft and ask for a licence for Exchange. Now my hopes are raised, and if it ever gets HSDPA and GPS, I'll get one, jailbreak it, and use it on my T-Mob contract... Well apparently, someone listened... http://www.apple.com/uk/iphone/ reckons that the new version has all 3 of those... are the days of my Vario III numbered? |

Mail2Web offer free exchange hosting. ... Pop3 was good IMAP4 is far better Hosted Exchange is the dogs undercarriage. I use Mail2Web, although only for Calendar and Contacts sync. I've got enough email without getting yet another address. Exchange Push email really is the mutts nuts, however. |

That's cool. Something to remember. How does it work if I've already got a bluetooth headset set up? However, it doesn't seem to have the grunt to run Windows Media Player in the background and TomTom in the foreground - TomTom will keep going, but WMP will just go silent for long periods. Don't know if this is a WMP thing, a TomTom thing or a speaker thing, so I'm reluctant to get a tape adaptor, in case it turns out I can't use it. Anyone else had this trying to play music and do TomTom in a car? |

Oh I see... ...so on the Vario III that would be the RECTANGULAR button that is perfectly flush with the edge of the device by design so that presumably it doesn't get pushed too often while the device is in your pocket and thus waste the battery, but as a side effect becomes very difficult to find in the dark and could only be described as being located in a position where your "thumb naturally falls onto" if one where to hold the phone in a very odd way or if they had very small hands. As opposed to a feature that can trigger several times a minute when the phone is in your pocket and you're not standing ramrod straight like a soldier? One of the first things I disable, that is. The power button is easy to find if I was blindfolded, hanging from the ceiling and had the Kaiser in my off hand. But maybe it's either a "you can do it or you can't" thing. Like rolling your tongue. Only with phones. |

Remote Desktop hasn't been in any official HTC Kaiser builds AFAIK, including the leaked WM6.1 ones? P Maybe because on a screen the size of the Kaiser, the Remote Desktop is just too small to be of any use? It was just about workable on the Universal, but I haven't ever felt the need to try it on the Kaiser. I was already ready to get flashing until I saw: Can anyone confirm this is true/ if there is a fix? One of the essential things I need is the ability to use GMail over IMAP? If thats solved i can flash away! Thanks It worked for me... i think you have to say initially that your email address is at something other than Gmail, set it up with Gmail's IMAP servers, then go back after that's done and set the email address back to what it should be. |

I can highly recommend the Brodit clip. It's set up in my P reg Fiesta and is fantastic. Took about 30 mins to set up, just clips into the dashboard above the air vents. Only problem I've found is it obscures the dashboard clock but that's a minor gripe. The unit is very sturdy and you can rotate the device to lanscape mode and push up the screen to use the keyboard. Can't fault it, excellent. Top marks that man. It was easy enough to fit (although having to drill holes in that mounting thing seemed very odd) I accidentally bought the passive not the active holder, but having had a 4 hour journey I'm now glad I did. There's not enough room in the cigarette lighter socket to get a splitter, so I can't have a second gadget that needs power - I think this will rule out most FM transmitters. As such, I'm going to get one of those cassette adaptors, and one of the Y power-and-audio splitters, so wouldn't be able to use that in an active holder. Very impressed with the Brodit stuff. Thank you all... |

Quick question - I have HSDPA enabled, and that's cool, but what I used to have was an H logo appear when the connection was active, and a 3G logo when it was connected but not doing anything. Now I've just got a 3G logo, so I'm never sure if it's doing anything or not - any ideas how I can get my H back? Thanks |

Not sure how fiddly it is, would have to ask in that thread...the suction cups are easy to fit (i have one) but my god it is rubbish to use....it vibrates allover the show when driving thus making the fone bounce up and down...not a huge amount but it is noticeable and midly irritating on long journeys. Hmm, never thought about that. From what I've read, this pro-clip thing is all home install, so I will give that a go, I think. Thanks |

How fiddly are they to fit? I've gone for a suction-mount because I don't want the hassle (time-wise and financial) of paying someone to professionally fit a kit into a car that isn't really worth a huge amount in the first place. Nice to know about the GPS, thanks EDIT: Also, that Brodit, although cool, looks very car specific, and finding stuff for a 10 year old car could be more trouble than it's worth... |

Just a quick question: I've recently bought a car ('97 Fiesta 1.3LX) and am looking to get a basic car kit that will allow me to use TomTom and let the phone charge while I'm driving. Nothing complicated, I've got a bluetooth headset I can use if I discover I want to talk and drive. (As a bonus, I'd like to use the phone to play music through the car speakers, but I'm not expecting the car kit to do this - either use the speaker on the back of the phone on full or get something like an FM transmitter that can talk to the phone... more thoughts on that after I've got a car kit) I've found this car kit, which looks hopeful in terms of price and features... It's a gooseneck suction mount, so not permanent, and it has a charging bit for the Kaiser built in, which is less faff each time I start up. £31, and I've got a £10 off Expansys voucher from my recent E100 purchase, so that's great. Anyone know a good reason why I shouldn't order one of these? Any better suggestions at the same sort of price range? Thanks EDIT: I've just noticed that it's for the TyTN, not the TyTN II - is this a problem? I found it through the TyTN II accessories page... Also, what's the Kaiser GPS like inside a car? I've seen the external GPS antenna for under twenty quid, but if I get that, I'd need a low-backed car kit. Is it a worthwhile upgrade, or can the Kaiser hold it's own with regards to in-car sat nav? EDIT 2: Or theres the Official HTC one which has space for the GPS antenna connector, should I want it later. in fact, the HTC one seems a better choice. Anyone used one? |

Just got me one from an Amazon store for about £32 inc VAT and P&P. Nice properly packaged SANDISK one with a USB adapter, so I'm happy with it. 12 gig for £32? That's amazing... Once HTC fix the video driver thing, a massive card will be awesome, as we'll be able to fill it full of films (I'd say music, but 12Gb is a crap-load of music). At about 200-300Mb per film, that's actually a massive number of videos too... Fantastic! May get a 12 gig (double current size) then sit and wait and see if the Kaiser 2 (or whatever the Next Best Thing is) comes out before the 32 gig card does... EDIT: Anyone looking forward to these ? (12gb for £60 seems a bargain ?) They've got 16Gb for £90, but both that and the 12Gb are out of stock currently (presumably that means "don't exist yet")http://www.mymemory.co.uk/compatible-memor...ch?prodid=12094 |

Thanks! That was the incentive I needed to get off my arse and order a new E100 headset adaptor thingy. Then I got attacked that evening and my crappy spare headphones were broken, so really glad I ordered. Should arrive tomorrow... |

Hmm, never heard of that ringtone problem before Yeah, it was very weird, and very hard to discover as well. I noticed first that sometimes I'd get texts or missed calls without knowing, then further investigation revealed that although that screen would claim I had my normal ringtone, if I rang the phone, it would be silent. If I tapped the ringtone, it would go to the ringtone-selection screen and default back to the Windows Default ringtone. This new ROM has cured that, so very happy now |

Does it fix that really annoying bug on the V3 whereby if you switch it into Silent mode (either with the HTC Home plugin or by tapping on the sound icon at the top and ticking the "off" radio button) and then turn the sound on again, the ringtone is still silent? Oh, what the hell, I'll try it anyway... Update: It's fixed it! {EDIT: Never mind, that was me being stupid} Other than that, looks ace so far |

They will probably release it when they release the new video drivers Without wishing to sound foolish, do we know when that might be? As far as I can (cynically) see, they've announced that they'll do the drivers just to shut people up... are they actually working to any sort of release date on them? |

Ok, but I've now got the full 1.1.3 Core Player (new GUI, although it's a little too "Real-Player" for my tastes) and it still can't play MPEG-4 video (which it claims my AVI file is...) Any way of getting round this? The old (free) TCPMP (0.7 something) could play MPEG-4 files - can I extract any codecs from this somehow? |
