QUOTE(ormstont @ Jul 12 2005, 07:48) Can anyone confirm for sure whether this removes the SIM unlock for phones unlocked using the free method? To be clear for those who asked but were confued by the "Dont think so" answer, a ROM upgrade will NOT re-lock a SIM Unlocked Phone. So you can continue using any SIM you like after a ROM upgrade, assuming your phone was already SIM unlocked. This is tested, verified, and gospel. Since everything else (except the SIM lock which is stored in a "special place") is wiped as part of the upgrade process, you WILL have to application unlock your phone again, and restore everything you want to have back from a backup including contacts, applications, and T9 dict. Hope that helps... |

Interesting that the review at PocketGPSWorld states that...
NONE of the current supported handsets offer concurrent Bluetooth connections.... |

If you have not already done so I would be tempted to do a hard reset (search for instructions). You just don't know what kind of mess the previous owner has left behind otherwise.
That should start you with a default home screen and on the normal profile. |

OK. I haven't been able to connect since the update either. In fact, the first thing I tried before doing anything when I got my SPV out of the box was Messenger. It worked. Since then it has not..... I have gone through the upgrade and 2 hard resets and still every time it is knackered.
UNTIL TODAY.... I did a hard reset, but before downloading the Orange GRPS settings or doing the OTA unlock. I tried Messenger and it worked. I have now unlocked and re-installed everything, and it still works ! The ONLY thing that is different is that I have left the GPRS settings as default after the hard re-set. As far as I know this means there is no specific DNS settings and that is all.... Does this mean that it is actually the Orange GPRS DNS servers which cannot see the Messenger servers ?????? Anyway, I am one happy bunny. Messenger works, as does PIE etc etc. As I say the only thing which is different today is that I have not made any adjustment to the GPRS settings since the re-set. Normally I would have logged onto the Orange site and allowed them to send me the settings OTA, and then unlocked the phone OTA as well. Can anyone else verify, or am I just lucky ??? |

I am using the latest version from the website (3.3 Unsigned), and still seem to be having issues with the Media Player skin not saving. Is this a known issue ?
Looking in all the theme files which are stored for my own theme, AI2, Futurama, and Modaco3, there is no WMP information. I have added it by hand to the text files and everything works OK now, however when I add new themes with WMP skins again these details do not get saved with the Theme file. |

Obviously some issues for MPx200 users, however on a more positive note I thought I would say that I have been using this for years on my PocketPC, and now version 4.0.9 on my SPVE200 with no problems.
Fantastic piece of software. Does exactly what is says on the tin. |

QUOTE I've hit the problem of all my start menu options listing alphabetically. I even emptied the entire list of ordered keys - and it still all comes out in alphabetical order. Anyone manage to sort this out on an E200, including new ROM? Blakey, are you not describing normal behavior, or am I missing something ? If you have emptied the entire list for ordering the start menu, then by default it shows everything alphabetically.... If you want to specify an order for Items in the start menu then fill in the HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Microsoft/Shell/StartMenu/Order registry key with information in the order you want. For example my E200 (with ROM update) has the folioing in that key... Settings.lnk File Manager.lnk Task Manager.lnk The effect of this is I get these 3 items first in my Start Menu, then everything else alphabetically.... Sorry if I've misunderstood your problem. |

And from your if file, spot the typo in the following line:
Caller ID = 0, StorageMy DocumetsIA Caller ID Photos "My Documents" and not "My Documents". To be clear, your version is missing the last "n" in the word "Documents". I can assure you it does not install the file in the right place. Check your storage and you will see it has created a new folder called "My Documets" |

Nice skin guys.
However, I do have to add my comments on the un-installation. I had to go through the CAB xml and unpick lots of the settings as mentioned such as ident, and operator names, vibrates everywhere etc. I would suggest at least a warning with the CAB that if you dont know how to unpick these sorts of settings then wait until there is a good un-install routine. (Midnights home reset CAB is great but does not undo all the "damage") Also there is a typo in your install script relating to the Caller ID gif (I think), anyway one of your install paths is to "My Documets". But enough of the negative. Great home theme effort ! |

I unlocked my UK E200 Bootloader 1.06 today. Email arrived about 10 seconds after confirming the PayPal details. Phone was unlocked about a minute after that.... All in all, was making calls on O2 within 3 minutes. Would have been faster if the SPV booted quicker !!!!
Great service in terms of speed and reliability. Thanks to the Authors. Hope you dont have too many support emails to deal with when you get back !!! |
