Ah well couldn't hold off any longer waiting for an updated T-Mobile ROM, have sucessfully flashed to TLR's Diamond ROM 3 and so far am very impressed its much slicker that T-Mobiles effort!! However, i also seem to have this issue, strangely the applications in the start menu also appear twice in the progams menu??

Thanks for all your hard work TLR. wink.gif

Yeah, I get that too, but only in the touchflow programs menu

I must be missing something!! I don't get who's stiring up excitement in this phone?

It looks rubbish, Its buggy, and appears to lack basic features to make it a serious working phone contender. Even the iphone/ipod touch makes quite a good stab at being an Exchange mobile device (ignoring lack of cut'n'paste, not being able to send contacts etc).

I understand its a new OS and device and it needs time to mature, but they could really do with making it do something special and useful.

Maybe a Lotus Notes client huh.gif

Lets be serious for a moment.

In my opinion the Redfly is complete waste of time! Why would you drop $199 on this when you can still get a netbook for (almost) comparable money? You cant even use this thing without a smartphone! It's just TERMINAL.

Even with the instant usability and battery life, it just seems like a waste of time. Netbooks FTW!

The main draw for me is having it to extend the battery life of my phone when I'm away, you could spend half as much on a external battery extender, why not pay a bit more and get an external keyboard and screen too. Of couse at the price it was before I totally agree.

FM Radio?? Nah, bring on a DAB radio, I don't know why more phone don't include this. I've a lobster, and the dab radio works fantastically, compaired to my Diamond FM radio that struggles to find a station!

That aside, this things looks sweet! Looking forward to more choice when my contract ends in 6 months! its all good biggrin.gif

Its from a diamond but that wont matter... yes its still the same case, when a developer strips somthing out, its freed in used memory and also in total because the device no longer has to hold it in memory to re-install when a device is hard reset biggrin.gif

hope that explains it smile.gif

I think I get what your saying, and I trust you cus you got a certificate!

So my next question is, does the Compact IV actually have less memory that the diamond?

For those with T-Mobile MDA Compact IV, you might be interested to know that it does fit in the Brodit Diamond mount, but its quite a tight fit, certainly won't fall out!

I'm a little concerned that it might wear the edges of the phone down, but it does slide smoothly...in a tight way wink.gif

I'm not sure how this compares to the Diamond fitting in the mount. anyone?

It depends on what ROM have installed... different roms have different amounts of free space as the rom cookers can strip out any unwanted apps etc...

I understand what your saying, but I'm talking about the 'Total' storage available not the free, mines increased, is this still the case?

Is your screenshot from a diamond or a compact IV? Whichever....you still got more than me.....damn you! mad.gif biggrin.gif

I've applied this to my T-Mobile MDA Compact IV, works a treat, and as a bonus I seem to have gained additional main storage memory (not the 4gb internal).

Originally, main storage was showing around 85mb-ish and now its upto 107.17mb. Is that the same as the standard Diamond??

Hey Paul, drag yourself into this year, its 2008 you know! tongue.gif

What I'd like to know... is this device really using the VGA resolution, a few year ago I had a IPAQ HX4700 which was VGA, looked great, but Windows Mobile still used the screen space the same, so I didn't really see the benefit till I installed a 3rd party app (SE_VGA I think it was called) . I've not really taken much note of the VGA stuff since then, have things moved on, and more importantly for me, will I get a full 640x480 Remote Desktop on screen at once?

I too had a call back from a T-Mobile techy. Have to give them credit for customer serives, makes me wonder why I stayed with Orange so long....anyway, he said that my issues were most likely caused by me living on the edge of the 3G coverage and to many users pulling from that ariel. Aparently the coverage shrinks the more people are using it. What's strange is the ariel is in a village about 3 miles away aparently and I,m on the edge of town closest. Maybe I shouldn't be picking up 3G.

Anyone else had any joy with this issue? I'm having exactly the same trouble at my home location, but when I go to work in Milton Keynes works flawlessly!

Currently waiting for T-mobile to get back to me.
