I too see this display issue (the "tailed A" noted by hylton) with Cingular's ROM. I didn't back up my Qtek ROM before updating... else I would provide the Qtek dll to play with. The Qtek ROM didn't have any display issues that I saw while I had it, so it likely is a good reference to build from.

I would also like to change the "Bliss" grassy hill image that is part of the Cingular version...

This happened to me once, I fixed it by doing this:

Open HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Profiles in one of the registry editors (I used Smartione, but there are several choices)

Make sure the values of "ActiveProfile" and "DefaultActiveProfile" are set to "Normal"

Probably need to reboot, can't remember if I did or not.

Oh, you may want to check in \Storage\Application Data\Profiles and make sure that it's empty or that the only file in there is "Normal.prof.xml" - if there is a handset or speaker one in there delete it.

That should do it!

QUOTE(rohinsadh1 @ May 16 2005, 02:37)
O2 xPhoneII - WM2003 - HILAlarm
I set an alarm for say 7:30 & used it for a few days...worked fine...
Then I set the alarm for say 8:30...problem, it went off at 7:30 which I dismissed & it went off again at 8:30.

In both instances, I checked the date & time functionality to re-check the time set & it was as I had set it using HILAlarm....

Plse help as I dont want to wake up at both the timing  ;-)
*

This appears to be a bug in Windows Mobile. If you set a new time without turning the old one off first then you get this "ghost" alarm. I found out the hard way... with my alarm going off 4 times a day!

I had to hard reset to get rid of it, but you can try first turning off your current time, then change it back to 7:30, turn that on then off again, and then set the time you want. If you're lucky that will reset the "ghost" alarm to off...

Now I use a seperate alarm/alerts program... the built in one is too buggy for me.

To do a startup sound I believe the key your looking for is:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Sounds\SystemStart

It's set to *none* by default on my phone. Haven't tested it but certainly looks like it should do the trick.

Link works for me... good deal for anyone using T-Mobile.

You have to use the dropdowns to choose "T-Mobile", "SDA", and then choose "NEU! SDA Specials"

Midtown Madness is listed as 0.00 euros.

I don't really read German, but looks like the instructions tell you where to go download it using your phone and t-zone data connection.

Unfortunately I'm not a T-Mobile subscriber :| ...

As near as I can tell, ID's that the phone has connected to get added at the end unchecked (weird?)... but that doesn't mean that they reflect your current connection.

For example, my phone tends to stick to AT&T, but when I forced it to connect to Cingular (using the "select a network" option) the Cingular ID got added to my list at the bottom, unchecked. It disappeared from the list after a reboot of my phone.

Frustrating thing is I can see my current "AT&T Wireless" connection unchecked at the bottom of the list, but the ID extends off the screen and I can't scroll to read the rest of it. Grrr.

I couldn't get it to work on my Audiovox SMT 5600, Cingular service.

I tried operator ids:
310410
310150
310170
31041
31026

The last two were the unchecked networks in my preferred network list.  Interestingly enough, the first 3 numbers, which were also in my preferred network list, but were checked, are listed in the preferred network list with text names that match the text entries I made in the registry.  However my home page still says "Cingular".

Hmm... perhaps it's just a SMT5600 option then, I don't have any experience with other smartphones.

Strange tho, thought that would be consistent among WM2003 devices. Wonder if the option is named differently or located elsewhere.

This just happened to me too. I've reset all the profiles to default but no change, still stuck in speakerphone.

Any other ideas? I've done a search on this and see a lot of posts regarding being stuck in headset mode... but nothing for speakerphone. This would appear to be a software problem vs the headset mode hardware one.

I gather a hard reset will fix it, but I would like to know what caused it to begin with...

Somebody who knows for sure should verify this, but I believe if the battery goes completely dead than you need to get the charge started from a more solid power source than what USB provides.

In short, try charging it using the AC adapter.

Good luck, let me know if it does the trick!

If you don't know the number for your operator you should be able find it by doing the following:

1. Go to Settings > Phone > Networks on your phone.
2. Select Menu > Preferred Networks.
3. Scroll to the bottom of the list -- The networks accessed since last boot are listed WITHOUT the box checked.

Note the number that matches the network you want to change. Also any networks you roam to from the list that you would like to change the names of.

Follow the instructions at the start of this post using the numbers you've just located.

Note: This is how it works with my phone (SMT5600 AT&T/Cingular), but I imagine it should work the same elsewhere, or very similarly.

Hope this helps!

PS. One irritating thing... if the operator name is too long the number will get cut off, and although there is a horizontal scroll bar at the bottom I haven't been able to get it to scroll to the right to get the whole number for long-titled networks (AT&T Wireless). I've changed the Cingular operator name successfully using this technique, but if anyone knows what the "AT&T Wireless" (not "AT&T USA" or other varients) number is please let me know! I've already tried 31038 but that's not it. It does start with 310 tho...
