Sorry - NO!  If you install the USB driver that comes with the C500 CD when XP dectects a new device and prompts for a driver, then it WILL charge using the standard cable. Why? Don't know - I just know it works!!

Could somebody please post the driver so I can give this a try?

Thanks

Alternatively, just install the USB driver that comes on the CD (maybe someone will post here if you ask?) - This is what I do to get c500 USB charging on a PC that I don't want to install ActiveSync on.

I have no problem with installing Activesync except that I cannot because the phone battery is completly dead. I cannot turn it on and so windoze does not detect it as a device. Activesync install wont complete until it detects the device. I wonder if I installed the driver manually... could somebody post it please?

Thanks

Hi,

Having had a good read through here, it seems there is no way to charge my C500 via USB without A/S being installed. Fair enough. Problem is, Im away in USA for 2 weeks with only my USB cable, and my battery has died before I was able to install A/S on the PC I will be using out here, which means I cannot complete the installation.

Anybody any ideas on if I can do anything manually to get this going? What are the relevant registry entries to provide the power to charge? I do have access to my normal PC over a VNC connection, is there any way I can export my A/S settings from there?

Thanks.

Has anybody installed the ORA car kit for the SPV? Any thoughts?

I really need to get one in, but dont want to have to change it again within a few years.. Im a little worried that unlike Nokia, future models will not be compatible. It may fit the SPV and the e100 but even that will be obselete in 12 months time, maybe even sooner.

:?

So I can't use it to charge from a PC (doesn't work when off), and I can't use it to sync because it might overload my USP port and damage it?! No use whatsover then!

Got one of these from Ebay. Syncs fine, appears to be charging but doesn't. Tried on Laptop, Desktop and docking station. DOES charge from the car using the supplied adaptor. Anybody any suggestions?

Thanks,
Joe
