The Diamond fits into it's Brodit mount pretty tightly too - enough so that I can insert the USB charger single handedly without pushing hte Diamond out of the mount.

I found it very tight to start off with, almost to the point of wearing away the sides of the phone. After a few weeks though it seems to slackened off somewhat.

I was a bit hesitant about spening the extra on the brodit, but i can fully say it was well worth it!

I know disabling the 'security tool' allows you to download unsigned software but how does this differ from an 'unlock' where you can use non-Orange SIMs etc........or is there no difference. V. Interested.

Ta wink.gif

Hi
This tool allows you to install unsigned third party software. By default i think the diamond allows unsigned apps anyway. Sim unlock is somthing completley different again.

Does anyone know when UMTS900 will be used in this country? It seems that it has been approved for use and rollout has begun in some other EU states.

Thanks

huwwatkins, did you get your phone today? Mine arrived just after 08:00 today incl the free Jawbone headset.

Overall pleased with the phone but Touchflo takes some getting used to and is a bit slow at times. I'm going to replace it with Spb Mobile Shell if it doesn't improve after I've applied whatever tweaks I can find.

Hi yes, infact they sent me two! Had send one straight back rolleyes.gif

I love the phone, only query I have is the 3g signal strength considering I have 2/3 3g masts nearby.

Its a new contract. If you already have an orange contract, you would need to port your number out then back in again to keep it, aswell as cancelling your existing contract (providing you dont want two contracts running alongside each other).

So, once I got that sorted everything seemed ok.

Ordered on Sunday. Got an email today at 18:00 saying there's a problem with stock or processing. I've already ordered accessories and was looking forward to receiving it tomorrow. The website still shows it in stock though !!.

Not happy, if they had emailed me earlier I could have phoned them to see what the delay is.

Similar thing happened to me, ordered sunday night, about 4pm it was still showing as pending so i phoned them and they pushed it along a bit but at 18:00 i got an email stating that there has been a delay and then 5 minutes later it had gone to the warehouse awaiting dispatch. So im not really sure if its going to arrive tomorrow or not.

I also ordered the brodit car mount else where - im betting i get that before the phone.

Looks to be down at the moment and has for most of the day. Any idea if this would be to update coverage information?

I believe that V and 3 say their whole networks are H.

Orange wont tell anyone their roll oput plans or dates...but H is certainly being extended as I am seeing H coverage with Orange in new areas all the time.

Hi, thanks for your reply. V have confirmed to me that my area is H enabled. Basically, I want a HTC diamond, so my options are V or Orange (tmob dont have any 3g masts here, but there are 2 Three ones so maybe the tie up will give them coverage). Do I go with Orange who seem to be more arresive in rolling out 3g and have slightly better coverage but albeit at bog standard 3g in the hope they H enable soon or go with V who are H enabled but I have no idea what they are doing as far as mast rollout goes.

Does anyone know what the general situation is with reguards to 3g mast rollouts? Its very hard to find any information from any of the network for all i know it could have come to a grinding halt.

Cheers

Whilst Orange have good 3g coverage across the UK, they are rolling out HSDAP (mobile broadband) in the major cities first - whereas T etc may not have as good coverage over all, it is "H".

Hi
Does that mean that any vodafone and 3 coverage i have would be hsdpa? Does orange have a timescale for national hsdpa rollout?

Cheers

Hi
Im looking at switching over to a contract from my 02 payg. I live is west wales and 3g coverage is slim at best. However the town where I work (Aberystwyth) is covered by all networks except t-mobile. Orange currently have slightly better coverage than the rest, but none of them have coverage outside of this town.

What i'd like to know is which one of the major networks seems to be rolling out 3g in areas like this the fastest? I dont seem to be able to find anything from any of the networks on where they plan to cover next.

At the moment im probably looking at Orange as they have more 3g masts here than anyone else, although the rather unclear vodafone and three coverage checker maps seem to indicate that they have HSDPA coverage here, although im not entierly convinced.

Thanks smile.gif

I am trying to put a new screen into my E650 but can't seem to get it open. Does anyone have a guide to getting access to the screen? I've looked everywhere and all i've found is the service manual but that tells me how to disassemble the entire phone not just get to the screen. Is there a user-made guide out there?

Hi
Having just taken my e650 apart to change the casing , you will have to dissasemble most of the phone to get to the screen. I would follow the service guide its pretty accurate.

Cheers.
