I've also got the GPSSlim 236 and whatever you do DO NOT put the SPV type mini-usb into the GPS as it will blow, I know I've found out the hard way.

The GPS should work from a straight mini-usb while your device will need to hold the serial line (as described in previous link)

Hi again, I used this

The total cost of all the components costs less than 80p at Maplins and it took around 3mins to solder, the most expensive part was a small case to house it smile.gif

I have this wired to my ignition feed and this powers a BT GPS, I use a Holux GPSlim 236 as its a SiRF III and instead of a 'soft' push on/off it has a good old fashioned mechanical slide switch.

So this is in a corner of my glovebox with the switch set to on and the battery removed with an external antenna so as soon as I turn the key my GPS in on and when I turn the engine off the GPS goes off and I dont have to worry about the battery. Also with the external antenna I always get maximum reception a full 12 out of 12 satellites and the bars are always at the top smile.gif

I also have a mini usb feed from the same power supply to power my device.

The power supply is small and more importantly its a regulated 5v and it can handle up to 1A so thats more than enough for most things smile.gif

Hope this helps

Depends on if its your car or a company car and if you dont mind a bit of soldering and getting behind your dash?

if you're going away and you still want to clock points up then open Navizon then tap on Menu, Options and then tap on the Data tab and set locator to (local database).

These settings are 'permanent' and you can change back when you return but the last bit you need to do before you drive off is to open the options/data page again and tap Work Offline then tap OK and tap Start when you are ready and when you get to your destination tap Stop.

When you return home of if you come to an WiFi hotspot open Navizon then tap Menu, Sync and that will upload your points to Navizon smile.gif

I do this all the time as I am on Virgin and the data rates are crap but I get loads of minutes and texts for peanuts so I always work offline.

What I like about Fizz compared to all other weather packages is you can punch in the name of virtually any village and it will find it and give you weather for that location.

I live in Castle Bromwich, Birmingham but I am a good few miles from Birmingham, closest town is Coventry but thats also some way off but using Fizz I can type in Castle Bromwich then lookup and hey presto.

I have to make occasional visits to Bury in Manchester which using other packages you have to settle for Manchester but this is miles away.

Thats what I like no matter where I am Fizz will find the village (or next nearest large village) and the weather is different so its not just classifying you under Birmingham or Manchester etc.

Hi Bipin, I've always used Fizz Traveler from day one when it was called MC Traveler on my old E100

I have it running on my Lobster 700TV, previously I had it running on my C550 and my C500. I like it so much I have the PPC version running on my Dell X51v running Windows Mobile 6

All I can say is make sure you have the latest version running and try to update via usb first. Its never failed me and I have used both storage card and main memory without problems.

Hi again, I just format the card on my device. When I put this into my card reader it shows as FAT32.

I know this sounds strange but I have put my cards into other card readers and it shows the same. Of all the card readers I have tried only three of them work (my boss, my friend and my broken one), they all read cards from other devices etc just fine but when I put my cards into other readers they come up in Greek!!

I know I can copy via ActiveSync but do you know how long it takes to copy 1Gb of map data ZZZzzz...

I have tried to find those readers but they have all been superseded with new ones and the ones I have tried don’t work.

Do you use a card reader? can you read cards from your device? if so what’s the make/model of your card reader and what device do you have please?

Thanks again.

I know I need to buy a new one, but I don’t know which one to buy that will work.

Sorry if I did not make that clear, I know card readers don’t cost much but I am hoping a few of you will say 'I have xxxx card reader and it reads all my Smartphone/PPc cards without any problems' then I can try and get one of those.

Hi everyone, I need some advice and this is the best place to ask.

My trusty old multi sd-card reader died on me last night and now I have nothing to copy large files to my sd-card with. Get a new one I hear you say but that’s the problem.

Let me explain, years ago when I had the E100 and I tried to cram as much music and movies as possible onto my 512Mb sd card I bought myself a PQI seven in one card reader. While the card reader itself worked it would not read any cards that where used in the E100, they would always show up as Greek characters.

If I formatted the sd card via my pc then I could use the card in my E100 but if I changed anything on the sd card I could not read it in my card reader. Very strange indeed and when I upgraded to the E200 it was exactly the same, I even bought another card reader and that was the same. What was even stranger is I could read sd cards from my camera fine its only cards that where used in my E100/E200.

One day at work my boss pulled out his old PQI multi card reader but his had a built-in 65Mb drive as well and lo and behold he could read and write to my sd cards without screwing them up. I was amazed and try to get one but they where a very old device and no longer in production so I gave up.

Then by chance a mate of mine who was clearing out a load of old stuff gave me three card readers and said if one of them work with my phone then I can keep it and after a few minutes testing I found one that did. The other two would not but one did, its an unbranded seven in one USB2 card reader and I have been using it ever since.

But now it does not work and I need another card reader but I don’t want to go out and buy a dozen readers and fine none of them work so can any of you recommend a card reader that will work with SD/Mini/Micro cards from C500, C550, Virgin Lobster, HTC Magician, HTC Wizard, HTC Blue Angel and Dell X51v please?

Thanks for listening.

QUOTE
you can only edit icons by moving

You can edit the top level icons but when you open applications the option to change the layout is greyed out ?

Tested on my Virgin Lobster Windows Mobile 5, it runs ok but I have the same problem.

Some applications don't work, my 'normal' start menu is under applications ? and whats even worse is they appear in random order and you cannot change them ?

Hi Sdavidsonjr I had loads of fun when I used it, I've upgraded my device to Windows Mobile 6 now so I have 'the real thing' wink.gif

From what I can remember I had to place a panel over my taskbar and use my own notification icons, but that was last year and the software has been updated now so it may be worthwhile putting a message onto the Lakeridge forums

Hi Jim, IGo Europe takes up roughly 1Gb UK on its own is 100Mb.

You can 'prune' it by removing unwanted maps, voices etc

I've also started using IGo as well.

The map data is identical to TomTom I.E. if TomTom says take the third exit and there are only two then IGo does exactly the same mad.gif and you can get just the UK map with full postcode support.

I agree with Wildfire as I can customise IGo much more than TomTom allows you to and I feel that its voice capabilities are far superior to TomTom also IGo has specific safety camera support rather than a general POI warning system which ignores cameras which are facing away from you biggrin.gif

iGo has much more flexible routing options than anything else I have seen so it can be fine tuned to a much higher degree.

But for starters try this, open Settings, Route Parameters then set the route method to easy and set the method to fast then try the route again.
