Hi guys I live in Taiwan and I can confirm the P3702 has identical hardward to the Diamond (e.g. 128MB + 64MB RAM). It's merely a different case design, ala T-Mobile's version, for those who don't want something too fancy (although all the adverts over here are for the Diamond version). If you're curious, you can view the P3702 at one of Taiwan's largest online stores: http://shopping.pchome.com.tw/?mod=item&am...EAA2H-A27237124 (beware, there's a lot of Flash and images on the site, so it may take a while to load). It's the same the price as the normal Diamond (GBP394 unlocked). Kind regards I am travelling out to Taiwan on business next week and am going to purchase the HTC Victor cause I believe that it is so much nicer than the Diamond. BUT I have been told that the ROM does not support WWE and I will have to update the ROM to get English. Would you know if that is the case?? Appreciate any help on this.... |

Copy both files to the phone, Run the E72 Unlock first, run the other one 2nd then reboot the phone. Pretty much anything can install now, but I would recommend also downloading and installing Microsoft's Security Configuration Manager. This will allow you to set the security on your phone to completely off if you wish. Thanks for firing these up here. I have just used them.... |

I wonder if this would prove a good replacement for my Vox (slightly worse-for-wear now) as I don't use the keyboard on it? Shame they only do it in red!! It looks a bit slow in the video Paul - would you say it was comparable to the Vox? I think it has a slightly faster processor than the Vox. I have definitely replaced my HTC S730 with the E72; the former now going up for sale on ebay!!!! |

Have u tried Skype on this? I wonder if it's able to run it smoothly and whether it's got the speaker problem as other windows mobile devices? Skype works prefectly on it through the wi fi connection that I used. Skype is not already on the device so will have to be downloaded from their site. It still outputs to the rear speaker though; is the same on my HTC S730. Seems like thats the way the way in which the Skype software works. |

Packing half decent specs...
I don't have mine any more, but I do like to have a Smartphone around as a backup device, or when I need a device that is super-small to take to the pub. Anyone else have one of these babies? P PAul, Got one last week and it is really a great phone. In fact, I would rather have it than my HTC S730. It may not have the same quality of finish but ut us very decent and the unit works well. Should we have a dedicated listing now for BenQ? Seems a good number of people are buying these now.... Arthur. |

Mine arrived this morning .... some things are a great spec, others are a bit lacking. Micros SD card slot ... but only up to 2GB Wifi - Excellent Bluetooth - Excellent 2MP Camera - Actually not too bad, id say probably better than that on the TyTN II However it only has GPRS and EDGE at times ... it doesn't have 3G and certainly doesn't have HSDPA. I was planning on using it as a pub phone, and putting my T-Mobile sim in there, and letting hosted exchange sync my calendar and contacts on there. But after using it for a while, I think I might use it as a replacement for my work handset, and let try to get it synchronising with Lotus Notes via USB ... so I've got a copy of fairly recent emails and calendar when Im out and about. After unlovking use this file to allow you to use 8gb sdhc cards.... |

Found them!! Many thanks Petr The card works a treat now and Ithink the phone is great. If you ever hear of a upgrade to winmo 6.1 maybe let me know... Arthur. Guys, this is a really great phone. It is small light and beautiful looking. It's got winmo 6.0 with bluetooth (stereo) and wifi. Whilst the screen is a little small compared to my HTC S730 it is still good to use and very clear. The kep pad is great to use and the buttons are all very tactile and positive. With the patch above you can also use the 8gb SDHC; I have and it works fine. It's even got little extra programs like auto redial which the HTC does not have. I ordered another today for a mate from expansys. Cheers |

Hello everyone I Just got the E72 from Ebay, came directly from Taiwan within 4 days after payment to Europe. It is a really small device, Im very satisfied with it. Battery life is 2 days, but depends on how much I use the phone (Wifi,BT,MP3etc..) Up to 8 GB SDHC card with applied patch is fine. Looks really cool. Preinstalled is Facade Homescreen, Java, IM Mundu,MSN Messenger, 2D barcode reader I have installed skype on my own, works fine on Wifi, but the sound is coming from the rear speaker. First I thought it might be a problem, but then I have found a solution: Put your phone the other way around with the back speaker on your ear and set the volume down. Yes, the mic will be on the other side (lower side, which is now on top with display facing outwards), but it is sensitive enough to make a clear phone call via SKYPE. But there are also some things I am not very excited about: - the screen is very reflexive, very hard to read on direct sun - sound volume in headphones is low, maybe a registry problem - phone is locked (u cannot tweak your phone so much), but 90% of apps installed --- ) ok In attachment you will find some pictures. Rainbow and my Parrot Bye Petr Edit: on the side of the phone is *rec button, this will start vito audio notes I've just got the E 72 and I really like it. CAn you tell me where to get the patch so that I can use my 8gb card or could you email to me? |

Me too I had the disappearing memory problem and when I used Oxios or SKTools to clean up memory, I lost cellphone function (no network detected/selectable - SMS still worked) so I had to reboot. Now I have replaced the Htc Home screen by a custom made one (see below) and my memory problems seem to have gone or are far less at least. I now can also free up memory without any problem [attachment=24058:ScreenCap_1.jpg] So far HTC have not come back to me on this issue. They have "escalated" it but no news. I am still hoping for a ROM update soon to fix. The memory issue is still in my device and I do not use the HTC home screen at all. I use the windows default with standard colours etc. I have read in other threads here about a pagefile fix but I am not prepared to go down that road but expect HTC to supply a solution soon... |

Hi =) As many of you probably have seen there are a lot of videos of "hacked" S730's with their built-in GPSes in use arround (for instance: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pTHO86--VHM ) Strictly legally, modding your phone to use the GPS isnt illegal so I hope this post won't be deleted, though it might void the warranty... I was just wondering if anyone has tried this? And if so is the GPS worth trying? Someone told me that HTC might be issuing a ROM upgrade for the 730 featuring WinMo 6.1 and GPS functionality. Interesting hmmm |

Could this be related to the video playback issues caused by those missing drivers? Perhaps a relevant question: Does this only occur with tracks encoded in 192+ bps? Or also with lower quality tracks? |Could be something to do withthe video issues and lack of drivers referred to in other posts; I am not sure. But I will stop tracks now to check if they are at or over 192 Kbps. Will let you know ... |

Is your phone still operational? If it is press the start button, select the icon named Expert then the icon Clear Storage. Enter 1234 when prompted. Thanks for the info . But I wanted to do a hard reset. The trick is to just momentairly press the on/off switch as you hold down both of the soft buttons. You must continue to hold both of those down until you see a message on the screen. |

How is this workaround holding up? anyone else try it? I think I want to order one of these phones, but not until I know I'll actually be able to use it with my apps. Guys, I did a hard reset of my device at the weekend and on boot up had approx 17 meg available. I opened WMP and available memory went down to just over 3 meg. I used task mgr to close WMP and checked again and only 12meg approx was available. 30 mins later still only 12 meg was available. I shut down the device and rebooted and again I had 17 meg. This time I opened call history and memory reduced to 14. When I closed this task the memory remained at 14 meg. It seems that programmes and not completely shutting down. And I am using the full potential of this device which still results in memory error messages. |

I had a similar issue some time back on a SP5 Smartphone and found it was an application I had installed (cannot remember which one) which was stressing Windows Media Player out. I uninstalled it and the problem never reoccurred. I don't know if this helps at all.... Thx, I did a hard reset of my device last weekend mainly because of the terrible memory problems I am having and this issue still rermains with WMP (and with the memory). This is really annoying cause I now use an 8 gig card in there full of music. Makes my iPod kind of redundant when I am travellimng abroad. Looks like we have a problem then with music playback. Anyone else with the same problem out there that might have a fix?? |

Rope, I hear what you say, but I shouldn't have to download a 3rd part app to make it work. I like IE and since it is part of the OS it should work. I had a HTC S620 with WM% and that did not suffer the same problems as the Dash with WM6 does. I'm not even sure in IE is the culprit. As an example I tried to start the camera earlier and it couldn't due to low memory. Closing all the apps does not return all the memory. A reboot is required. Crap really. I have the exact same problem (as many others do)_ with my new HTC S730. I wanted to open the camera yesterday quickly to take a shot and , like many other times, it would not open indicating there was not enough memory. I lost the moment thanks to HTC. |

I have finally heard back from HTC on this as of yesterday, below is there response, verbatim. I am hopeful that we get a fix soon, but am still not sure they completely get it. "Thank you for contacting HTC Europe regarding a query about the memory error. This is now a known issue on which we are working to find a solution. At the moment I could suggest you to perform a hard reset and keep aware of what could be causing the problem." Has anyone else heard of anything of found a way to really fix the problem, not just run close apps all the time? I am not sure they get it either...I just have to close programmes....see below response from HTC. I am sorry to hear that you are having issues with your device, I would recommend that you back up your device using Active Sync or Windows Mobile Device Centre.? Once you have backed up your Hard Reset the handset, this will restore the phone to factory defaults and reinstall the Rom. To do a Hard Reset simply: Press Start Press More Press Expert Press Clear Storage Type 1234 Press Yes If this does not resolve your issue then it will need to escalated.? In order for this to be done we will require the following information: It goes on to ask for device details and email to them which I will do today. I see on other forums that the same issue is being raised too. |

During music playback on the S730 I have noticed an annoying "stopping" of tracks. It lasts just a split second and will occur every 10 or 15 minutes. It's as if the audio output was momentairly switched off and then back on again. The same occurs if I use the HTC audio manager so it is not just with WMP. I have used two different cards in my phone and the issue remains. I have also used the cards in other phones with WMP and playback is perfect. Anyone else noticed this??? >>>Has anyone found this problem<<<< |

Hello all, I bought a HTC S730 (european) and also have the memory problem. So contacted HTC support several times and send emails. They came back explaining that the phone has ram and rom and how the birds and the bee's work. After several emails explaining the ram problem, memory going down after using the phone, they finally came back with the answer: Please backup your phone-data and hard reset the phone!!! Well, after this 'great advise' I thought I'd better call the support line. After an interrogation and asking my imei number from the phone they finally wanted to answer my question about the memory. Then they said that I installed too many programms on the phone and that was giving the problems, when I responded I had nothing installed they told me it was because of the too many big emails that were in my inbox. I assured them that there were only a few and this couldn't be the problem, then they asked me to wait........ After 5 minutes holding they said they had a lot of S710's lying around and they all work fine and told me that is basically the same phone. I managed explain them why it was not and to please check on a s730, then they told me that they did not have one. So they asked me to hold again...... When she came back on the line after another 5 minutes they told me that there were no firmwares in the works as this was not a known problem to HTC and she couldn't make a note of it because this problem was not acknowledged by HTC. I asked her to at least make a note of my complaint, but she answered she could not leave support-tickets open... She also added not to worry, because a technical person in her team told her that even if the memory in the task manager shows 9mb free, the missing mb's are actually there, only the task manager doesn't refresh it properly. Now my hope is, maybe somebody on this forum has a contact in HTC higher up that actually has some Idea if this problem will be addressed or officially will be real in the near future. Hoping for some positive news, RJB Great to see your tenacity on this. HTC are just messing us around. How can they say the memory is available even though it does not show it in task manager?? Do they think we are stupid??? The fact remains that there is not enough free memory in this phone when running several programmes at once. This was one of the reasons that I bought it in the first place. The memory on the 730 is like the SO-DIMM modules in a PC; memory is needed to run the programmes. I look on it as a desk, the bigger the desk the more files you can take out of the filing cabinet and open on it. Every day I get error messages stating out of memory.....I will contact HTC again today. This phone could be going back... |
