Has anyone else had problems opening attachments with Blackberry Connect on the Kaiser?

I can open and read normal emails fine, but when I try to open one with an attachment, there is a moment where the busy timer appears, and then it crashes and returns to the home screen. Task Manager shows the app is no longer running, so for some reason Messaging just can't handle them.

I've tested creating a new account to receive my Yahoo pop email within Messaging, and that can open attachments fine, so must just be the Blackberry account causing trouble.

Does this affect anyone else?

Ok, I think it was because I installed the app on my storage card, whereas this time I tried the internal memory and it worked! smile.gif

Phew, it was beginning to bug me that it wouldn't work.

Hello,

I have the Kaiser TyTN II bought in the UK and I'm currently trying to install the Blackberry Connect software.

The main problem I'm having is that after installing the client software and going through the setup wizard (Start -> Settings -> System -> Blackberry), I choose which services I'd like (Calendar/tasks/notes) where it then asks to reboot the device. The trouble is it never reboots back into the main screen, it constantly hangs on the green Windows Mobile intro pic, and no matter how many resets or disconnecting the battery, I cannot get past this screen. sad.gif The only way to resolve is perform a hard reset.

So I'm using the following file (BBConnect_WM6_Professional_BB_4[1].0.0.84.cab) found here (http://www.america.htc.com/mobile/connect/8925/) which I discovered from the Modaco news item here (http://www.modaco.com/print.html&clien...89&t=258901). Looking at the comments from the last link, it seems as though other people have installed it successfully, but for some reason it doesn't work on mine, even after a fresh hard reset with no other software installed.

I install it by copying the cab file to the Kaiser via ActiveSync, and then simply execute the cab file from within explorer (I disable the phone password as requested). My main aim is to make it work with an enterprise account (BES), so should I install the desktop software first? I'll give that a go in a moment anyway and see if that helps.

Many thanks in advance for your help.

Thought I'd let you know that I was having problems de-certing my phone OTA from Orange after the update too.

Nothing was happening after filling in my details, yet as soon as I connected to a website via PIE through GPRS, the de-cert message came through! Must work through GPRS somehow...

Does anyone know or are there any guides out there that allow you to connect the iPaq h2210 (PPC2003) to the spv via infrared and then browse the net using GPRS? I'm having trouble following existing guides because they are tailored for PPC2002 which has different connection options.

Also, is it possible to browse files between the two devies using IR?

Many thanks for your help.

I know that I should be posting questions about SPV's here, but some of you also have iPaq's and I was wondering if you could pass on web links for sites similar to the excellent Coolsmartphone.com and forums that are just as good as Modaco for iPaq content...

Many thanks

If you have an SPV Smartphone, do you think it's worth buying an iPaq as well? What extra benefits does it give you? Are the apps better?
I don't really need one, its more of a gadget thing smile.gif

Fantastic! That was the problem and has now been solved by removing those files within AppMgr/Install ohmy.gif

Crazy isn't it that we have to find out these solutions ourselves. How would Joe Bloggs figure that out? Well, all credit does go to this site for the wealth of helpful information!

Hiya,

I'm having trouble installing software that was initiated through the PC. When the Add/Remove program screen appears on the PC and says check your phone for further install options, I can see on my phone screen the text saying download completed, but then it jumps back to the home screen without giving me the option of installing to phone or storage card....

I've restarted the phone and checked to see if software was installed, but nothing seems to have happened.

Out of curiosity, could it ba lack of space on my phone? My free physical memory is 1976k and IPSM folder is 2.18Mb.

Cheers for your help!

QUOTE
worked fine for me (its installed on the phone)
what OS are you running?

im on XP pro

Yep, on XP Pro too.

Checked with Task Manager but installation doesn't appear to run in background. Also closed down unsed apps and tried another restart. Tis strange, not happened like this before.

It dissapears just after it says something like 'received .CAB file and installing...' before the bit where you choose phone/storage card

Any ideas?

hmm, this has happened twice now. When I install the program, it works ok on the PC end but when the message saying check out your Smart Phone, the installation screen briefly appears then goes back to the home page and I can't retrieve it. I've restarted the phone and checked install dirs with no luck sad.gif

Anyone else had this problem?

I'm having trouble running the javascript. It could be any number of problems, the main one being that .js extension is tied to my Dreamweaver and so doesn't execute the script.
I've also tried opening it with IE instead but nothing seems to happen.
I have the contacts.csv file within the same dir and there is a Contacts.htm file already but that doesnt get written over.

I guess my question is which program should I run the .js file though?

Thanks for your help

P.S This will be a great app and ever so useful!

This is pure fantastic!! All I'm thinking now is 'What can't this phone do!?'

Anyway, just curious if anyone else is finding it taking ages to load and then being really slow through the menus?

My home screen is the default one after hard reset, so I'll try a simpler one to see if that makes a difference.

In the mean time, I'll send you my log MBoden to see if you can spot any problems...

Cheers!

This is really bugging me now when I try to do a hard reset.
Whenever I press the voice recorder and power button, it enters the bit where you press the action key, but when I let go of the power key or voice recorder button, it suddenly jumps to the Canary screen without giving me chance to press the Action key sad.gif

Any ideas anyone because I'd really like to unlock my phone.

Cheers

Quick question:

Is there a way to write texts on your PC while the phone is connected via ActiveSync and send them through the phone?

One more thing, I don't know if this is a bug, but has anyone ever tried sending a text message that failed and then found it incredibly awkward to send it again because the message is stored in sent items?

Hello,

I've been unable to send an MMS on my SPV yet. I haven't a clue why so I'll post my current settings (UK) below to see if it's different with yours.

All that happens is that after choosing a mate to send a photo to and click send, the animated picture appears indicating the phone is trying to send is, but the follwoing error message appears:

alert - Failed to send message! Message was moved to Draft Folder.

Under Settings -> Data Connections
Internet Connection - Automatic
WAP Connection - Automatic

then -> Edit Connections -> GPRS Connections -> Orange MMS
Connects to - Orange MMS
Access Point - orangemms
Username -
Password -
All other settings are blank.

Under Programs -> Accessories -> MMS Setup
IP - 192.168.224.10
Port - 9201
Mmsc Address - mms.orange.co.uk
all other blank

My GPRS connection works fine yet I thought MMS's are sent using this, but it still won't work. I've double check my mate is MMS capable.

Cheers for any help!
