Sounds odd then. I have 64% RAM free from power on, and haven't looked at changing Opera or Google Maps options yet. How much free Storage Memory do you have? My readings show; Storage Total: 84.94 MB In Use: 74.41 MB Free: 10.53 MB 2. Yes it does and I believe it can be overridden - check out the Diamond section in the xda-developers.com forum and look for the Advanced Config tool. Ive tried the power settings in Advanced Configuration Tool v3 but still it looks like my wireless is turning off when the phone is in standby. Any other suggestions on this? Thanks |

Not sure on 2 and 3, but re. 1 did you install the apps to the storage memory rather than internal storage? You should always installs apps to internal storage because of this issue of eating up device memory. Uninstall and reinstall. Everything I have installed has been to the 4GB 'Internal Storage', is there anything else I can move or remove from the phones storage? 2. Yes it does and I believe it can be overridden - check out the Diamond section in the xda-developers.com forum and look for the Advanced Config tool. I have this already installed but some how missed those Wi-Fi options. I have disabled 'Turn off Wi-Fi if no activity' but 'Wi-Fi auto off timeout' doesnt have a disable option, so I will use 10 mins and see how it goes. 3. There are better radio's about - again, check out xda-developers, in the Diamond ROM section for more info - 1.00.25.07 is available and what I am using and its pretty good for reception/battery life, etc. I will look into flashing the radio, are the improvements significant? Many thanks for your replies so far. Guy |

I finally got my hands on a Compact IV from T-Mobile over the weekend and so far am fairly happy with the device; ROM Version: 1.37.110.3 WWE ROM Date: 06/20/08 Radio Version: 1.00.25.03 Protocol Version: 52.26a.25.09U I have a few questions though that I don't seem to be able get answers for and would like your help. 1) Low Memory. After installation of a only a couple of applications to the storage card, I have started receiving low memory messages. After a quick dig around I have moved the Opera cache and reinstalled google maps to the storage card but that still only leaves me 11MB out of a possible 85MB. 2) Power Settings. Does this device turn off the Wi-Fi when it goes into standby? If so how can I prevent it from doing this? What happens is, when I wake my phone from standby, I see the the data connection icon (either H, 3G or G) and then after a couple of seconds the Wi-Fi icon reappears. Whilst I obviously am grateful of the power saving it is causing havoc with Windows Live Messenger and other internet applications. This was never a problem with my S710, whenever I wondered out of the house the Wi-Fi would get disconnected and the data connection would pick up, WLM would re-sync and away I went. 3) Radio Version. I have the stock T-Mobile ROM on my Compact IV. Is this the best radio version? If not then would it be advisable to flash the radio to a newer version? Would this improve signal strength? Suggestions and advice is all greatly appreciated. Guy |

Does anyone know if you can insert a picture into a email signature on a Windows Mobile device? Maybe even use your own HTML or the complete signature? Thanks Guy |

Isn't GPRS on only if the a 'G' above the signal strength is visible? The G along the top of the screen (usually around the middle) indicates when you have GPRS signal. The G above the signal strenght meter indicates you are connected to GPRS. NOTE: When you are connected to GPRS you are not nessecarily sending and receiving data, the nature of GPRS means that it only sends packets when it needs it. Thanks |

Had the same problems as you guys in regards to the rubber seals. Also my vodafone V1415 keeps turning off every night. Doesnt matter what i do, keep it charging, on battery etc it goes off! This is so annoying as alarm will not work. Im desperate for a solution to this. Cannot find a setting anywhere that deals with this problem. A hardware reset, if that doesnt resolve it then I would send it back under warranty. Its a crying shame about these rubber flaps, the phone it my perfect windows mobile device but it seems removal is the only option for the flap. Thanks |

You can remove it without damaging it with a small screwdriver if you take off the battery cover. That s what I have done Mark Thats looking like my only option, still very annoying. I was considering heating the rubber flap to see if it goes back to its original shape. Any thoughts? |

Don't get me wrong, I love my Vodafone v1415 (aka E650 & S710) but the rubber flap which covers the charging socket is begining to drive me crazy. I press it in, it stays for 15 seconds, then pops out. I press it in, its stays in for 15 seconds, then it pops out. Guess what happens next? Is anyone else having this issue? Short of pulling it off, which I would prefere not to do has anyone else managed to figure a solution? Thanks |

I have the Vodafone variant (v1415) and my keyboard is nice and tight and has been for over 6 months. The spring action works well still and when in the closed position it hardly moves at all. It does a tiny bit of play in it but not enough to affect typing on the front keypad or cause concern. Thanks |

The Proporta GPS device uses the SiRF Star III chipset which in my experience is one of the best GPS chipsets. It has a fast cold boot time and good GPS lock once booted. I too have a v1415 and am looking at purchasing this GPS device. Software wise, Tom Tom is very good and works well on Windows Mobile devices but isn't easily migrated to another device should you for instance change to a pocket PC at the end of your contract. Both Google maps and Windows live search have the ability to use a GPS aerial and are both free. Thanks |

Does anyone know of a blogging client for smartphone that will work with blogger.com? The problem is, rather than the usual xml-rpc API, blogger.co uses the google equivalent API; gdata. Any help wpuld be much appreciated. Thanks . |

Just like in the topic name. I need to disable this red key function. When I'm pressing red key- gprs is turning off... If anyone knows how to do that, please write there. Maybe there is a registry tweak? Have a look at this topic: http://www.modaco.com/content/forum/254164/http-www-modaco-com-index-php-showtopic-254164/ The registry key you need is: HKLM-->Comm-->ConnMgr-->Planner-->Settings-->SuspendResume and add a ~GPRS! value. I have attached the exported registry key so you can import it with a decent registry editor. You will need to extract it first. Thanks |

Are any of your guys browsing the internet on your phones? If so then your temporary internet files will not be helping. They are saved in Windows\Profiles\Guest\, there are three folders, Temp Internet Files, History and Cookie. Check the properties and see how much is in there, if there is a few MB's then I would suggesting installing Paul's CardCache, you can find it here: http://www.modaco.com/content/forum/231188/http-www-modaco-com-index-php-showtopic-231188/ It will tell Pocket IE to save the files on your memory card instead of on the system memory. Make sure you follow the instructions and clear the Pocket IE files before installing. Thanks |

I go away in a few weeks and have two 2GB microSD cards for my v1415 (aka S710, E650) I want to fill them with music (which is not a problem) and movies. Can anyone recommend a decent DVD to smartphone utility for 'backing up' my DVD's to my phone. Don't mind paying for it either. Thanks |

you can use any image you want just rename it to that of the current file used and place it the /Windows folder. use an image viewer to find the file you want to replace its the long way to do it but it a good way if you can not use a reg editor as i know some vox user are strugling with. as for the reg edit way, off top of my head I dont where it s i know how to find it..its called a search function ither by this forum or using find in reg editor. do not direct the start up pivture to a file on you mem card though...you will just lock your phone in boot up Thanks for the reply. I can edit the registry on my device without issue. I would however like the standard windows mobile pictures. |

Changing the theme of my Vodafone v1415 (aka Vox) has almost, apart from a few items removed all the Vodafone branding, however I wondered if anyone would be able to point me in the right direction to remove the following items: Start Menu Background - Currently a vodafone grey colour Number Entry - When typing the number get the above grey background and a small Vodafone in the top right Startup / Shutdown - Big red Vodafone logos I would preferably like the Windows Mobile defaults for these items. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks |

I've been using the Fring client now for 3 or 4 days on my Vodafone v1415 (aka Vox) and without a shadow of doubt, on my phone, the Fring client is far better quality during a 'skype' call than Skype's own client is. To be honest the quality with Skype from my smartphone over wifi has never been that great, its always been good from my M3100. So I'm interested in hearing everyone elses experiences with these two clients? Thanks |

[*]You’ll need the HTC Streaming Media player, which only comes with WM6 Pocket PC Professional) devices, but NOT Smartphones – that is, WM Standard devices. Great guide Menneisyys. One small pointer, my Vodafone v1415 (aka Vox / S710) 'smartphone' came with HTC streaming media and works out of box with You Tubes new site. Thanks |

nope i have tried it too. It seems the new e650's are well locked down. I have tried to use the tool but it says it is two tier locked and it refuses to do it. I tried the tool.cab in the same file as suggested above. Obviously this is not allowed to be run on the phone either! I am getting sooooooo annoyed with this now. I am considering sending it back. I really don't want to as i love the phone but i cannot install anything. literally nothing! My c500 is far better featured I can't believe this is it though. The france telecom unlock site doesn't work and neither does this...... any one else having this much grief trying to run ANY programs??? What message do you get when trying to install the cab? After its installed you have to reboot your device then reconnect to your computer. |
