I had issues with my Holux GPS236 gps. When initially paired, it is setup on COM7 with the incoming port on COM6. TomTom expects to see the GPS on COM6, so if you swap the ports around it will work. Although I suspect you have not got this far yet. If you open up TomTom, press 5, scroll to GPS status, then select configure, you can then use your joy stick/toggle button to select Other Bluetooth GPS. |

I downloaded 2.3.33.21 from Imates site, but it would not run on my US version of the SP3I. Imate was no help, so I ended up using the TyphoonNbftool to edit the operator code, actually blank it out, so it would install on my SP3I version. An added benefit was gaining 900mhz over the 850mhz which it originally had. I have heard that others have used the same technique to get the rom to work on other flavors of the Typhoon. |

With more experimenting, I managed to fix my own problem. It seems that when pairing the Holux to the SP3-I, , the outgoing port is set at com7 by default, although this works with every other map application, it does not work with TomTom 5, once I switched the outgoing port to com 6, boom....gps works. |

Greetings. I hope there is someone out there that can lend assistance. I have searched the foum and read every topic concerning getting TomTom 5 to get it to work with other GPS units, but none of the patch's/tricks appear to work. I am using a Imate SP3-I with ROM 2.3.33.21 (Imates rom, WM3 SE). My gps is a Holux GPSslim236, which works with other mapping applications fine. TomTom will not see the Holux gps, I have tried renaming it to TomTom Wireless GPS, TOMTOM GPS RECEIVER and I even applied the AnyGPSTweak.cab file, soft/hard booted the phone, reinstalled the software, re-paired numerous times, incoming port set to com 6, outbound port set to com 7, security turned off, etc. etc. I pretty much have tried every trick on this forum and several others. Although, most seem to have problems with the Orange ROM, I suspect the problem with the IMate ROM is similar. Any advice? thanks |
