I have installed SPB Kiosk on an ASUS A626 Windows Mobile 6. The Problem is everytime you restart/soft reset said unit for SPB Kiosk to run, Wi-Fi is turned off. (Note: I configured the Wireless Network (SSID, WEP etc) and Network Adapter's Settings.) I unsinstalled SPB Kiosk and try restarting said unit again but I found out that Wi-Fi is still off.

I was wondering is there any work around for this issue like a registry edit or something. Like a way to set Wi-Fi to be automatically set to ON.

Thank you so much for whatever input you'll give on this issue.

@Chito,
It is still the same old procedure, so far I see no need for having an open line SAP with a SAP 1.7 ROM installed, once you get out of SAP 1.7 you have better choices, just in case anyone wants to play around with the SAP 1.7 ROM image here is my suggestion:

Edit the SAP 1.7 ROM image and change the bootloader to 0.99 (SAP 1.3.7 bootloader), of course utmost care must be taken to make sure checksums, file size, etc. are same or you will end up with a dead phone, I don't have a SAP now because I am using Mitac Mio 8390 so I cannot test it

I think this may work, so mga Hex Editing Experts, wanna take the challenge

Cheers!  :D

tried and tested sir simula ng lumabas yung sap 1.70

kaya lang sir minsan may mga errors, parang mas fail-safe pa na idowngrade muna ang unit sa sap 1.60 before using your method

here's an update

i brought it to bright point alli mall, they asked me to produce a receipt from smart that the said unit was the one issued with my plan

since smart was offline that day i waited in the smart wireless center in the same mall for a copy of my OR, while my unit was inside the tech room of brightpoint

sad to say i was not able to procure a copy from smart and the people at bright point told me that the unit have been corrupted and if i cant prove that it was issued by smart to me they will have to charge me 17thou for a replacement system board

so pissed, i went home. then it hit me to try the 1.70 upgrade once again

it worked, no errors whatsoever

i didn't know what they did to my phone, but whatever it was, it worked

same s*** pa rin

i backup the rom of a working unit to a mem card,' i found the instructions on this site, unfortunately i cant find a source code for a terminal loader that'll upload the contents of the mem card to the unit

this is the only possible solution that i see right now, using an update upploader that is not provider-specific

do you guys know where i can find one

tnx

this is the first time i had trouble

updating to SMART AMAZING PHONE rom

version 1.7.0.13 (bootloader 1.09)

history:

the unit had a SAP rom ver 1.6.0.07,

and this is my 1st encounter with the

said version. i ussually do upgrades

on rom ver 1.6.0.08.

i read on www.smart.com.ph that the

said ver (1.6.0.07) can be updated so

i tried it.

after erasing:10% (as displayed on my

PC and SPV) the update stopped and

an error telling me that the rom ver

im trying to write on the phone is

incompatible with the unit

so i tried to do the update once

more, restarted the phone, put it on

canary mode, run the update and this

message flashed into my eyes
____________________________________

ERR 116: SMARTPHONE IDENTIFICATION

ERROR

Cannot identify your SmartPhone

Please perform a normal reset on your

SmartPhone and run the SmartPhone

software Update again.

___________________________________

so i did a hard reset (option 8 on

the canary diag .97 screen), since

it's the only thing i can perform on

the unit

i retry to do the update once more

and i get the same message again

___________________________

i tried running other SAP updates

(1.6.0.08, 1.5.0.0, 1.3.7.8, even the

rom ver from orange eurotel, imate

and qtek) but all i get is the same

error message or message telling me

to try another rom ver.

i tried cleaning my registry, i even

used 2 of my pc plus my notebook to

do the update but things remain the

same

______________________________

people, please, i need on your

insights on these

where did i go wrong?

tnx

if it's qtek or imate or eurotel 1.5.x.x, the bootloaders are 1.7.04, find a way to downgrade it to bootloader .98 by either using a memory card with the bl .89 PBOOT image on it

i mean .98 bootloader please forgive the typo

or using the orange 1.3.5.x update whose bootloader is .98 too then you can upgrade to any version you like even smart and orange

do remember that there is always the possibility of your unit being locked to a network after an upgrade

a friend has a unit that came from smart with this rom version 1.6.0.07 i tried upgrading to 1.70 but it got stuck on erasing: 10%, then there was an error about the rom version being written was not compatible with the unit

i tried everything i know to get this unit back to life to no avail, upgrade to 1.7, downgrade to 1.3.7.8, lahat ng natutunan ko about SAP

what i have is the SAP 1.6.0.08 version, i got from the web but it doesnt work on the unit

if you can point me to a site where i can get this rom, or can give me insights on how to solve this problem of mine, i would really, really appreciate it

tnx

sir your bootloader is 1.1 meaning you'd been able to do the upgrade but it failed somewhere in the erasing-upgrading protion of the update

there's a thread here on downgrading the orange 1.6 to imate/qtek/eurotel 1.5, i think it's in the device specific threads, search the forum for it

that for me is the answer to your problem since it'll downgrade your bootloader ver from 1.1 to 1.07.04

or you can try doing the following updates orange 1.6, orange 1.50 or sap 1.70, whatever brings your unit back to life

hope this helps

speaking from experience any SAP rom version higher than 1.3.7.8 wala ng prompt to enter sim unlocking code so useless tong SPVunlock unless idowngrade yung unit or switch yung rom version to orange, imate, eurotel or qtek

with regards sa latest ver ng orange my prompt pa rin so switching to orange 1.6 is best para sa akin

tried and tested

Unlocking SAP 1.7.13.0

guys if you're using SMART and have no plans of switching to GLOBE, i wouldn't encourage you to do this. because it's tedious, it took me almost two hours to complete it. but for most of you who lives for the challenge bakit di nyo subukan?

I’m not sure if there’s a shorter method for this. This thing worked for me but if you guys have any suggestions to shorten this operation your inputs will be greatly appreciated.

1. with the rom SAP 1.7.13.0 still on the phone, I used spvunlock code to read the unlock code of the unit (don’t forget to disable “WCESCOMM.exe” from the TASK MANAGER)

2. there’s nothing in this rom version that’ll ask you to enter the SIM unlocking code once a sim other than smart is inserted, so we have to downgrade the unit. I ran SAP 1.6.0.08. I ran this upgrade on the unit, erasing and upgrading, upgrade complete, then turn the unit on again waiting for it to operate

3. then here’s the tricky part using MAR’s method on unlocking the SAP 1.6.0.08. I downgraded the unit’s bootloader to .99

4. then I upgraded it normally with the SAP 1.3.7.8 rom version, and upgrading, upgrade complete, then insert a non smart sim before turning the unit on, the unit will now prompt for an SIM unlocking code. Input the codes and voila your SAP’s finally unlocked.

5. if you want a better version you might want to upgrade to ORANGE UK rom ver 1.61 which is what I’m using right now (doing this will require you to enter the SIM unlocking code once more, so guys I think it’s wise to keep a copy of this in your wallets)

so after 4 downgades/upgrades my phone’s now unlocked.

I hope this helps.

tnx 2 bragol for his insights

sirs elr and bragol

i finally got the darn thing working again, i'm not so sure if what i have done did the trick but the unit is up and running with the SAP ROM Ver 1.7.13.0

here's what i did

1. copied a .93 bootloader on my sd card

2. used usbterm and typed qfs 12 on the command line to copy the bootloader from card to the unit
there were a number of errors, that i forgot to take note of, but its something like command 5 blah blah blah failed yadda yadda yadda

3. upgrade the phone to SAP ROM 1.7.13.0 and it worked, after almost 36 hours of futile upgrades, tweaking and research, the dang thing worked.

like i said, i'm not really particular if this was really the one that solved my problems. i have no plans of killing my phone again just to be sure that this system works :-).

im just posting this to update you guys what i have gone through and maybe, just maybe, help you if you encountered similar

thanks for the replies

i was doing an upgrade of my unit from sap 1.6 to sap 1.7 but i forgot to plug in my pc to its AC supply and it hibernated, so i was stuck to Stage 1: Erasing 10% on my SPV.

i'd been trying to redo the upgrade but all i get is an error message that the rom i want to upgrade to is something that is not compatible to my current rom (again and again) which was a series of yyyyyyy, or something like that

from what i read in these forum, i might be able to bring the phone back to life if i have 1.09 Bootloader+gsm+ce on my mem card and transfer it to my unit

so if you have a copy or can point me to a link, please help, you can email me thru bglan@digitelone.com

any inputs regarding this matter would be highly appreciated

tnx

smart really really sucks

but this unit has been a great challenge to all of us, at hanggat di nagsasawa ang smart para mapigilan tayo maiunlock ang unit nila, di rin tayo magsasawa na maghanap ng mga paraan para maiexploit ang unit na to
