Hi Just upgraded my E650 to WM6.1 using Dr Gonzo's rom This has OMAP and TPC included in it. I installed your app, but when I try to run it, it says TPC is not installed (even though it is). Also, now I must have changed some settings on TPC 'cos whenever I try and run it, the phone reboots (I think the last thing I did was set the CPU speed to Auto) Any ideas how I can rectify this without a hard reset ?? Thanks PaulF |

Hi I've got Windows Live running on my SPV E650 - it will send and receive emails perfectly. It has brought across the full list of email folders from my Live Mail account, but doesn't synchronise the contents (only the folders are there and they are all empty). I've tried selecting a specific folder and then doing a send and receive, but this still doens't work. Does anyone know if this should work? And any ideas on why mine isn't? Cheers PaulF |

Hi Been using WM5 Storage on my M600 with great success - superb application Just upgrade to an E650 (running WM6) Unlocked the phone, and managed to get WM5 running OK. PC wil recognise the device and the drive shows up in My Computer.... But when I try to access it, it gives an error to say the drive is not formatted, do I want to format it? I can read the card in the phone, and have files on there. Is there some kind of formatting issue between Win XP and WM6, or is this a problem with the WM5 storage software? I'm using v1.53 - is there a later version that may help reolve this problem? Also - just found that when I do activate it, it won't then deactivate - I had to remove the battery to get the phone working again.... Anyone else using this succesfully with an E650? Thanks |

Paul Just a quick 'thanks' for a superb fix - I wasn't particularly fussed one way or another with the Orange themes, but the speed improvement from getting rid of them is well worth it. Thanks again Paul |

Hi I've used Krussel cases for my last few phones and been pleased with them - just waiting for the Krussel case for my E650 to arrive any day now..... But, occasionally the Krussell cases are too big - those nights out when you don't want a phone hanging off your belt, and the Krussell cases add a lot of thickness to the phone. I don't like to put phones in my pocket without any protection (as they tend to scratch easily).... Has anyone seen a silicone case that would protect the E650? - I know you wouldn't be able to use the keyboard, but it would be useful for protecting the phone in my pocket etc... Alternatively, what's the slimest case / cover you've found for one?? Thanks |

Good news - the Outlook Connector Beta will work with Active Sync Well done to 'Ron' over at the mail spaces pages - he's found that once you've set up your Outlook Connector to sync your LiveMail details, you then have to change the setting for which folder your new mail is delivered into. Change this to your LiveMail folders, and then you can remove the old Personal Folders, and then Active Syncs with LiveMail (Hurrah!!!) Still got an issue with 'NickNames' - it seems these are a mandatory field in LiveMail (presumable for Live Messenger) - and always display ont he phone between the first and last names..... Anyway - at least I've now got all my contacts in one place and synchronised..... |

Thanks mate - that version works OK..... However, after all that I'm not sure I'll keep using it... The syncing of contacts is is not 100% - the 'merge with outlook contacts' option doesn't work that well (I get some contacts duplicated, others 'merged') and the 'live' contacts are mostly (but not all) listed surname, firstname (and I don't think you can change it). Also, my phone (M600) seems to be very sluggish when running the Windows Live Beta - is it heavy on processor / memory requirements? I've read on other posts that many people are not happy wih the contact syncing in windows live (even on the new version of WM), so I'm not sure what the best solution is... I'll keep looking. Thanks for all your help - much appreciated. Paul |

no problem, works fine on my Ameo running WM5 Unfortunately, it won't install on my M600 - reading through the XDA post, I think it's a Smartphone version, not PPC... And yes, I've searched XDA for a PPC version but I can't find one (they're all into uploading complte ROM images onto their phones, and I'm not sure that I'm up for that) I'll keep looking for alternatives..... |

Live Messenger on the phone. Is that available / compatible with WM5 ? Is it a free download? The only version of Live Messenger I found for the phone was a web based version (you browsed to http://mobile.live.com/wlm) and then sign in there.....) |

Hi all Well, the free Outlook Connctor Beta promsied by the Windows Live Hotmail team is now here: http://mailcall.spaces.live.com I've downloaded it, and I can now get my Windows Live contacts and Email in Outlook 2003 (Calendar sync, for some reason, is still only supported for paid subscriotions). My plan was to use this to sync Windows Live to Outlook, and then use Active Sync to sync to my M600 (running WM5) - mainly to keep one set of contacts (and hopefully in the future to keep one calendar if they allow us to use it for free). I've hit a few problems..... Firstly, on Active Sync 4.5, I can't find an option to choose which contacts folder to sync with - I'm sure it was available in the earlier versions.... Anyone out there running an older verison of Active Sync and confirm this?? So at the moment I still can't sync my Windows Live and WM5 contacts - I've got them both into Outlook (but in two separate folders) and can't seem to sync them. Also, I've found another annoying problem - it seems that in the Windows Live contacts, the ''nickname' field is a mandatory field - you can't leave it empty (I assume this is to do with Live Messenger stuff). This wouldn't necessarily be a problem, but if you complete the 'nickname' field in Outlook, and then sync to the phone, all the contacts are shown on screen as John "johnsmith" Smith (with the nickname in between the first and last names) - which is a real pain! The good news is I didn't have to pay anything to find out this doesn't really work very well All I want is a simple way to properly integrate my Windows Mobile device and my Windows Live information - shouldn't be hard should it??? Are these problems resolved in WM6? Does that allow proper synchronisation of Windows Live Contacts and Calender with the Pocket Outlook applications on the phone (either over the mobile network, or via a PC)?? |

Hi there I've had my prophet (M600) for only 9-10 months and now it has stopped charging; in fact the miniUSB port is completely non-functional, it won't charge or sync. I had taken good care of the phone so naturally I have returned it to HTC Europe for a warranty repair. Unfortunately, HTC are refusing to repair it under warranty as they are claiming it was mis-treated. As I know this not to be true, I was wondering... ...has anybody else had problems with the USB port on the prophet (M600) failing to work, or breaking? I have heard similar stories on this board in the past and thought that if I could gather a little anecdotal evidence it might support my claim. Yours gratefully, in advance, Carlos Yep, mine broke recently - not sure what happened or when it did, but suddenly Active Sync stopped working. After three reinstalls of the software, I noticed that the plastic lug in the centre of the socket on the phone had vanished (presumably broken off), and left the metal wires behind. 2 of these had got bent, and so no longer connected with the USB plug properly (luckily I could still charge it, and only lost data connectivity). I phoned Orange, and managed to get them to replace it under warranty (it was about 9 months old). They brought me out a new phone the following day. Good luck! |

Thanks for the answers guys - very helpful... re: the WM5 Live Beta - I was on this for a little while but then I thought it ended? (it certainly stopped working) - I checked the MS site recently and all I could get on there was the latest Messenger beta (which is just a website - it works, but not like having a local client). I'll keep my eyes open for that being released 'properly' on WM5 - or until I can't resist the draw of a shiny new WM6 device Thanks again |

Hi all Anyone out there with a WM6 device using Windows Live? I'm looking to find out what benefits I can get from upgrading to a device with WM6 - mainly with regards to increasing the compatibility with Windows Live services: Windows Live Mail Can you send receive mail using your Windows Live Mail account using POP3 (i.e. using the messaging client rather than browsing to the website) Windows Live Messenger Is there a mobile client for Live Messenger (an actual client application, not the website you can browse to (http://mobile.live.com/wlm) Windows Live Contacts Is it possible to synchronise your Live Contacts list with the Contacts on the phone? Windows Live Calendar Is it possible to synchronise your Live Calendar with the Calendar onthe phone? I know some of these functions can be acheived by paying for a windows live / office live subscription, then getting the Outlook Connector, and then synchronsiing on the PC via Outlook - but I'm trying to avoid having to do this If anyone is using Windows Live and WM6 I'd be grateful if you could let me know if / how well any of the above functions work... Thanks very much PaulF |

I'm already beta testing office live... If you go up to the second level (which is currently free, but will be monthly subscription once it goes live) then you get the Outlook Connector which will synchronise Outlook (locally on your PC) with your Office Live mail (and contacts and calendar I assume). You can then use Active Sync to get these details onto your mobile. BUT... You can't sync your mobile direct with the server (as far as I know), and also you can't use Office Live with your Hotmail account - you have to use a new domain name (which is not the end of the world, but still not quite what I'm after). So.. I'm still looking for the ideal solution, to what should be a relatively simple problem: I want my emails, contacts and calendar synchronise between my Windows Live Mail accounts, and my Windows Mobile 5 device. Why is it so hard? Paul |

I agree it's annoying that it looks liek it will only be available to WM6 devices... But, has anyone actually used the new Windows Live Mobile? Can you tell me if it will synchronise Calendar and Contacts from Windows Live Mail (i.e. Hotmail) to the Windows Mobile Device? All the websites I can find mention Windows Live Mail, but seem to completely ignore Calendar and Contacts? Any information would be appreciated Thanks |

Thanks for these files they make the dialer skin so much more readable. Made one small change to the Bkgnd_Land(blue) - I thought it looked beeter upside down. The origianl version is darker at the top but if you flip it 180 then you can read some of the black text at the top of the screen a bit clearer Good Idea! I was thinking last week I must have another go at this as it's really hard to see the Bluetooth Headset icon (as it's black) - flipping the background image will sort that out. |

Currently my PC is connected to my router via LAN and WLAN When I plug in the M600 for an Active Sync, both LAN and WLAN connections reset - they reconnect within a second or two, but it seems that either the connection of the M600, or the activation of the Active Sync application causes both LAN and WLAN connections to renew their DHCP licences. No idea why, and it doesn't give me any particular problems, just something I've noticed. I'm using WEP, but no MAC filtering. |

As this is only available to beta testers there are no downloads at the moment. to try and join the beta group go to the following site and sign up http://connect.microsoft.com/ Hi Peekie I'm on the Windows Live Messenger (and Live Mail) Beta's - but I've not seen anything of Live Mobile Messenger (just checked ideas.live.com again this morning). I tried looking at the connect site you mentioned, and I've registered with there as well, but all I could find was Windows Live Beta testing, which seems to be empty. Is this the one you've signed up to? Any other ideas on how I can get this beta? Thanks PaulF |

My only suggestion would have been to put the (blue) bit at the start of the filename instead of at the end, so that the modified files are easier to identify in file explorer on the PPC. No problem - glad they were useful... Why didn't I think of putting the 'blue' in front ?? I had to turn my phone onto landscape to work out which files to rename - it's amazing how you can miss something really simple and obvious ! Cheers PaulF |

Max Unzip the attached file - you should see 9 files. They all need copying into the Windows folder on your phone, and then rename them all to remove the (blue) from the end of each one. Soft Reset the phone and all should be OK. I haven't done the landscape files (so it reverts back to grey in landscape mode) I haven't changed the number buttons yet (but the grey goes quite well with the blue background) The drop down list for the numbers is not perfect - when you expand it down(using the top arrow button on screen) the white box changes shape slightly (I didn't quite get the two graphics files identical) - I haven't sorted this out yet (because I never use this function - I didn't know what that button did until I started looking at this skin!) Anyway, hope this helps... If you make any further changes to this, please post them back up here... Cheeers PaulF |
