Following on from the issues here about being charged for international text messages, I've just checked my online bill - and it appears I've been charged for 8 international text messages to '0014252461806' at 17p each I'm gonna send off an email to M@Metrics right now and kick up a fuss .... I'm also gonna un-install their software from my PDA until they sort the problem ... Cheers Lycrawearer P.S. Why is Paul still promoting this heavily on the front page ??? Come on Paul .... |

I've gotta agree with the others, and I 'll ask the same question that I asked here in this very same thread - on Aug 14th ... Why is MoDaCo still promoting this right on the front page ?? Why am I so concerned ?? Because as my previous posts back in Aug state - I still have not received my 6 monthly payment - although M:Metrics records indicate that payment was sent - I most certainly haven't received it ??? Why do M:Metrics insist on sending out cash in the post ? Hardly secure is it ? If they have sent my £30 then it looks very likely that my postie has had it I've emailed M:Metrics a few times, but apart from 1 response from someone in there support team, I haven't heard a dickie-bird more. Very very poor show, and why (given all the other negative comments on the same subject) is this still front page news ??? Come on guys ... sort it out ... Lycrawearer |

Well a bit of digging gives the following info .... M:Metrics Ltd 130 Shaftesbury Avenue London W1D 5EU Still no payment .... and although Paul has posted saying M:Metrics are monitoring their support email addresses I've gotta say that they obviously cannot be bothered replying. My emails to them haven't bounced back either - so they have been received at their end. What with the non-communication and also the apparently random payment (in cash too) - I suspect that M:Metrics are having a few financial problems. Wouldn't be surprised to see an announcement shortly saying that they have gone bust or similar. I wonder if the ASA would be interested in their promises and advertising ? Cheers Lycrawearer |

Well I've emailed Paul but he hasn't read my PM yet - either he's busy or is ignoring it (maybe because I titled it M:Metrics) ... Still no payment or emails from M:Metrics either ..... To be honest this is a pretty poor show .... and I think that MoDaCo/Paul should not be promoting this on the front page of this community - I'm just wondering if anyone has a snail-mail address or telephone number for them ? Time to do a bit of digging me thinks, see what can be found. If anyone has any info then feel free to post here or email me. Paul - if you're out there -- or even any other moderator ... a response would be nice - or are you all going to let M:Metrics continue to scam us and make false promises ? Thanks Lycrawearer |

Just out of interest I wonder what Paul's view on this is ?? Paul - any comment ?? I received my first (sign-up) payment within days .... then the 6 month payment was also dispatched on time However it's been 7 months now since the last payment .... the application is still installed on my phone, and is still transmitting data. With all the negative comments from various posters I'm beginning to wonder if M:Metrics are still going ... Paul - can you make enquiries, and see what is going on ? If M:Metrics (MobilePanel) are going down the pan, then I don't think that MoDaCo should be advertising/promoting them on the front page ... Cheers Lycrawearer |

I've tried adding the code below but it doesn't work ... any idea's as to what I'm doing wrong ? QUOTE <!-- Facade Plugin View: This is the view that shows the info for each tab --> This was taken from a post in the SBSH forums here. Annoying thing is that I had it working before on my Lobster, then thanks to the TV facility not working I had to hard-reset it, and can I get it back ?!?!? Cheers Mark P.S. Would upload the standard Chromium xml file but it appears that I can't - sorry ! |

I like it - installed smoothly as well. One request (personal preference) - I use Fizz Traveller's homescreen plugin to display the weather for my town. Can this be incorporated somehow - perhaps at the expense of the apps or tasks tab ?? Cheers Lycrawearer |

Not sure if anyone knows this but NovoSec have released SmartFilter v1.3 which apparently supports WM5 and QVGA devices ... Although the new version will install over the top of any old versions - I found I had to uninstall, reboot & then install ... Evrthing looks fine, so thanks to NovoSec http://www.novomobile.com/smartfilter.php Cheers Lycrawearer |

Hey nice work Doc ! Suits my SPV C550 down to the ground - shows weather & appointments just like I'm used to on the old XDA Exec. One question though ... any chance of ditching the thermometer icon/feature and perhaps having a signal strength indicator ? Cheers Lycrawearer |

QUOTE(BORGCYMRU @ Jan 1 2006, 21:37) How do I turn down the volume of the caller. It's so loud I have to hold the phone away from my ear and I can't seem to find any mention in the manual to turn it down. Thanks On the left hand side of the phone (as it's facing you) there's a couple of sets of buttons (recessed into the side) ... top one does Internet Explorer (on mine anyway), and the lower 2 increases or decreases the earpiece volume. Well I'm almost there Have de-certed / unlocked, installed the Blueness Theme (one cool item) and various other bits of software. Still having trouble with the O2 MMS settings - having used the data settings repository I got GPRS set up ok - but can I find where to enter the O2 MMS server bit ??? Anyone does this before successfully ?? Cheers Lycrawearer |

scar45 ... What an excellent theme ... top marks for the time & effort that you have put into this !!! A couple of questions though; - Installed this on a C550 (QVGA screen) and it's not quite right - the images don't quite stretch to the bottom of the screens, and as a consequence the various text labels aren't aligned. Also the info from Smart Monitor at the top of the screen sometimes goes outside of the relevant box (ie is too long) ... - After tweaking the xml - I did manage to align the text at my end, but find that the Task plugin doesn't function - I guess as a result of the tweaking etc .... not a major problem though. - Like the others I would have preferred the calender details to be displayed rather than the tasks ... - You're right about the 0.9.5 plugin being better - the later version has a problem with text colours. Overall I'm extremely happy - like I said an excellent theme, but wondered if any updates were forthcoming - especially with the size / calender issue ? Merry Xmas BTW ! Cheers Lycrawearer |

Okay - back to using a Smartphone at last. Makes a change from using a brick of an XDA If I wanted to 'tweak' the ROM of my newly purchased C550 (have de-certed & removed sim-lock) then is this possible ? Are there any other ROMs worth looking at ? Thanks ... Lycrawearer |

Be careful ...
I signed up to this 'trial' in May ... so far my June bill & also my July bill have had GPRS data transfer charges on. A quick call to Customer Services and they have refunded them, but they can't explain why. Using the 'orangeinternet' APN (as part of the settings they sent me). Strange thing is this also happened on my wife's PAYG account ... again they credited the charges but it hasn't happened again on hers. Maybe there is a billing problem somewhere ? Lycrawearer |

I went for an interview as a store manager for 3. Got to the interview and it was only then they told me that they plan to open concessions in Superdrug. Yes Superdrug, the place you go to buy jonnies not a 3g phone. Be careful. I predict them going bust quite soon. So that's why they had a stall in Superdrug @ Plymouth last weekend ! They didn't look very busy though. Mind you - when I visited their store in Birmingham a few weeks ago, I was the only customer there - and this was on a Saturday afternoon (peak time) ... I didn't buy one though ... what worried me was that the salesperson couldn't even get the handset to work in the shop - so what chance did I have getting it to work @ home ? Lycrawearer |

Starting very soon, there will be a new GPRS promotion available..... It is called OPEN ACCESS, it give 3 months free GPRS.. Just 1 major drawback for you guys, it is only available to people who have not yet been on any GPRS promotions !!! Morpheous - is this right ? I just changed the tariff on my SPV to the HSCSD plan @ £10 month (seeing as I've sold my SPV), and also cancelled my SPV promo pack - the kind lady offered me 3 months free GPRS access. This was earlier this week, and I've still been using GPRS on that sim .... I also rang Orange about another matter the following day - and confirmed with the operator that I had indeed been changed ! Lycrawearer |

I suspect that people will have problems cancelling their contracts early because of this price hike !
Why ? Because Roaming (and it's prices) are classed as an additional service, and not part of the main service that you agree to / connect to ! Remember - to activate roaming you have to call & request it - and it's subject to credit checking etc ... So Orange will allow you to cancel Roaming, but not your contract because of these charges :-( HTH Lycrawearer |
