I agree - there are a few issues with this if, like me, you've been used to a really excellent *phone* (a 6310i in my case) but i'm not sure about all of your gripes. ---Battery Life I'm getting better than i expected to - a couple of days. Wifi does seem to hit it hard and i'm using a cable to sync. In fact, mine is keeping at a higher charge than my phone most of the time because it gets a boost a few times a day when i sync it. --- Sound Odd this one. I asked repeatedly on forums about the sound quality and i can't work out what's wrong. it's not too quiet (in fact i use it turned down most of the time) but it's very 'harsh'. I'm getting used to it and find it Ok now. A bluetooth headset might be the answer - i'm considering this anyway so that i can a) leave the phoen in my pocket or ---large number of contacts, I've got 800 and this is an issue. my (3 year old?) palm TT allowed you to enter more than one letter using the control pad. Two things that might make this easier that i'm working on (which woudl be unneccessary if the 'categories' filter was sticky (how stupid is that?). 1)the speed dial can have up to 99 entries. that will give a much shorter list to scroll through. i reckon there are 20 or 30 numbers i dial frequently. 2) Phonealarm (which also gives a proper display of battery life, signal, sms's, voicemail and profile switching from the today screen - try it) has quick access and dial to the most recent 10 phone actions (combined in/out list) which is often enough. 3) voicedialing seems to work well. i've replaced the button hold for voicememo with a shortcut to voicedialing to give a single button press dial. not sure how many voicedials can be stored. -- The PDA bits work well on this phone, but has everyone forgotten this is first and foremost a phone? i'm thinking i'll probably end up setting up a forward to a PAYG at weekends on my old 6310 but i'm liking carrying a single device in the week. Outlook sync is great for diary but the notes synchronisation is a joke - they dont sort into categories which dumps my 200+ notes in the top level folder. Search doesn't help - a name search on my 800 contacts takes over a minute! |

Someone asked me to text them a phone number yesterday and i was completely stumped. There doesn't appear to be any 'send as sms' on the contacts (Nokia phones have a simple menu item). Next idea was to 'copy' the phone number - ie select the number, menu, copy. I then opened a new text message and tried to paste it in but there was no paste option on the menu. I ended up getting a piece of paper, writing the number down, and copying it back into the text. Any suggestions for the future? I use block recogniser. Palm graffiti has shortcut gestures for cut /copy/paste. are there any in WM05? |

That's strange, I thought all WM2003SE and WM05 devices had it as standard. Try clicking just above the bottom menu bar on the right of the screen to see if anything happens, the icon might be there but just not visible for some reason. I don't have a prophet device so I'm not gong to be of much further help to you. EDIT: had a quick look on xda developers and it seems that there is no onscreen icon for the prophet, but it can be switched from portrait to landscape by using a hardware button. Look in settings/buttons to see if you have a button assigned to the icon is there on the orange spv m600 version of the prophet |

I can install applications ok but it refuses to uninstall any of them - the only solution is to do a hard reset and start all over again. Anyone else having difficulties? i've already hard reset to take a couple of apps off. this time i just wanted to update phonealarm to the latest version, attempting an uninstall left it non-working and unable to remove the old version or put a new one on. Surely its not meant to be this difficult? is it something orange have locked? |

What likely happened is that the files were in use when you uninstalled. If SKTools can't do it, try this: sktools only seemed to pick up the items that were in the list that the device picked up. i'd not done a lot of customisation so i did a hard reset. when installing the two apps i did want from the desktop i noticed there was a 'desktop' uninstall button. maybe i'll try that if i need to get rid of something in future |

HTC prophet/orange spvm600 newbie: I've installed a few trial apps, decided i don't need them and am trying to uninstall: pocketbreeze ilauncher to uninstall i went to settings, remove programs, and selected them. They no longer appear on the remove programs list but both apps are still in programs and still run. How do i uninstall them - i suspect that just deleting the directories is going to cause chaos. |

Ok. the serial patch mentioned in this thread seems to have sorted it. http://www.modaco.com/index.php?showtopic=...44entry736144 |

Given my sync problems with my M600 appear to be a result of Orange's 'customisation' is it possible to flash the M600 with a generic HTC Rom (imate?)? What would i lose if i did so? Presumably the orange 'theme' and today page would go but they're easily replaced with something similar. I suspect i'd need to punch in the message centre, voicemail and data numbers as well but that's not too difficult |

Trying to get my m600 to sync with a corporate machine using a sygate firewall. Refer these threads; http://www.spv-developers.com/forum/showth...p=6075#post6075 Some MTU registry settings need to be changed. However, Orange enable application lock. On most phones this can be removed using HTC's signed app here; http://wiki.spv-developers.com/index.php/H...on_Unlock_Guide and Orange customer services advise finding a app unlock via the net. However, in their infinite wisdom orange have blocked the HTC tool (see note on above page). Any suggestions would be welcomed but in the meantime if you think this might affect you I'd be looking at another network. |

Do yourself a favour fella, search for other posts of a simular vein before posting and you would have found things like this except that thread relates to cases, not screen protectors, and doesnt answer his question. I've just got myself a brando workshop protector. they have both gloss and matt versions. really good, last well, not expensive. The screen on the prophet appears to be exactly the same size as the older (magician>?) win2003 model. |

I'm slightly confused by the lack of an obvious 'search' function in WinMobile2005. The general move in software is towards simple, quick, searching to find info. Having used a palm for many years i'd got into the habit of adding metadata to contacts, notes and appointments to enable me to find them without knowing exactly how they were filed. In Palm a search across say, contacts, for a name would produce results in seconds. I've found a search function on my Prophet (under 'help') but a search of contacts (800 records) takes well over a minute. Am i missing something? How can it be that slow? |

Does anyone no of a fix for this as it very annoying; alternatively can any one recommend any other software that would sort this. Bugging me too. nearly 800 contacts accumulated in Outlook over the years. Your nine most used can go in speeddial which helps but i could probably get down to 50 or so that i use on a reasonably regular basis. |

I'm having some trouble connecting via Wifi. It picked up a neighbours unsecured network ok but my own network is giving trouble I'm using wpa-psk but when i put the password/string in the phone sits at 'connecting' for ages without ever actually getting an IP address. Any known tricks or bugs on this? my string is of the form ##a########### since another device i used (nokia 770) wouldnt log on with a numeric only string (so theres now a single letter in it). |

I had this same note from Orange, however it's not even in the "Coming Soon" section on the Orange.co.uk shop, so I'm gonna hold off until I see hard evidence that it's available. Got mine on Monday. Upgrade. Free when i asked (£30 a month Select 500 contract continued). |

I've just got myself an Orange SPVM600 having used Palms for about 10 years. Are there any recommeded guides to making the move? I've synced data and worked out the basic functions but a couple of things are puzzling me. 1) Notes seem to appear bundled in with documents and system files. I was a heavy user of notes on palm and on the Outlook desktop. How do i get them into categories and get some more functionality? Is there a third party app that will sort them out if it's not in the OS? If notes don't work like this on mobile2005 what should i be usign (that will sync to my desktop) 2) How can i Search? i put various bits of 'metadata' in my contacts - eg if i'm looking for someones partner i usually put their name in the note of the attached person's contact details then searched for their name. Also theres lots of stuff in my notes that i need to search for (and sometimes appointments too.) 3) i used YAPS (yet another password store) for all my passwords on my Palm. Is there a good, free or cheap, equivalent for winmobile? I think that's the main irritations so far. |

QUOTE(FragMeister @ Nov 27 2005, 09:49) http://www.seeo2.com/product/XdaAtom/templ...mProductInfo.vm http://asia.cnet.com/reviews/handhelds/0,3...9095540p,00.htm? Any news on a UK release date? WM5 on a magician sounds perfect for me - a little less thickness than the wizard and no sliding keyboard (my experience of sliders on a Palm and an old Nokia leads me to believe they're going to be the first thing that fails). That's the one for me... |
