Few things to try, how about a software upgrade (guess there is one out for the phone), also what about a SD-card flash back-up, this may help.

Try and you the free unlocker with out a sim card in the phone, I have tried it with mine and it seems to work but i have used it before, you never know, short of that you will need to buy a orange sim card or use imei-check to unlock the phone.

There is a unlocking program that take info from the phone in modem mode and save's it in a log file which you send away and get your unlock code to unlock the phone, now once you have unlocked the phone and do another log file you should beable to write that to any mpx200 to unlock it, as the guy says with the upgrade wizard, I have had a quick try at this but got an erorr also my mpx is on loan at the mo so can't do any more till I get it back.

To install the rom you need special cables etc, and a great deal of knowledge about the phone and how roms work

No you don't just need a 64meg card, mmc reader and little bit of knowledge, that I know as I have done a few.

O and ontop of all that its very difficult to find the rom image

Not true found it in about half and hour on google , the only problem being it takes about 12 hours to download.

Anyway the upgrade it not worth it you lose so much space and half the programs I have would not run, have gone back to running the 1.6 on my one.

edit squall
rom name removed

As long as you can get to boot loader screen the phone can be fixed, you can try and reload the update via the PC or you can try the SDcard way.

Sorry can't see what you 2 find so funny, just because at a guess you 2 are not working on it, no need to make the guy feel silly for asking the qustion, the linux rom has pretty much been run on on most of the HTC Phones/PDA ( if you check back on here you will find it was once run on the 1st SPV), anyway no there is no linux out for the E200...etc...etc.. as yet, guess somewhere in the world somebody is working on it and as soon as it become useable someone will let us know.

If you can't get to boot loader screen then you have a nice door stop, you only hope is sd card repair, if that not work then it's off to repair center for fix.

I had this problem and the way I fixed it was to remove the battery from the phone plug the charger in and then put the battery back on the phone, after a few seconds the led should go to green.

Not much you can do, you could try stripping the phone down and seeing if anything is wrong, try running the unlock software might help might not or it's an upgrade.

I have just remove the headset socket from a dead board, if you are felling brave you are more that welcome to it, it was working before the phone went for a swim.

Got an old SPV (version 1.3) anyway went to do a rom upgrade and it stopped at 40% not once but twice and now the phone is dead no power up and no battery light, I have a working SPV and I remember somebody posting a fix if you have a dead SPV using files from the working SPV trouble is I can't find the post, so can anyone point me to it.

Try software upgrade (if you have not already), try cleaning the sim contacts or try putting a bit of paper on top of the sim holder as it might push the holder down to hold the sim in place better, short of that lot not working take the phone back and get a new one.

Try doing a upgrade (or re-applying the update) this might reset the unlock counter (not sure but worth a try) short of that not a lot else you can do.

If that happens again try removeing the battery and pluging the mains charger in and then put the battery back, seems to be a problem on the E200 (had this a few times) and on the XDA 2 as well (strange both made by HTC).
