QUOTE(carlosvr @ Jun 9 2005, 03:52)
I recently purchased a QTEK 8020 (I previously owned an Imate SP3i) and quickly noticed it didn't come with Windows MEdia Player 10. I tried different ways of bringing it over to my phone (from my wife's Audiovox SMT5600), but that didn't work. I opted to upgrade the ROM (using TyphoonNBFTools) with a QTEK 8010 rom. Everything worked well, I thought till it rebooted and I tried using it. WMP 10 was there but the joystick was no longer working correctly. Moving the joystick left would actually move the cursor down, moving it right would move it up and Up and down do not work, neither does pressing down on the joystick which was formerly an Enter key. Is there a way, in the Registry perhaps, to let the OS know I have a joystick and not the rocker switch. If not how can I downgrade the ROM?? Please help, I now have an expensive paperweight!!!
*

the keyboard handler is different for this device - you'll need to reflash your ROM with either a SP3i or a SDA ROM. Unfortunately there's no official ROM updates with Windows Media 10 for these I think, but perhaps you'll be able to find a SDA music backup 8)

I've completed the post on SPV-Developers on this thread http://www.spv-developers.com/forum/showthread.php?t=265

basically you'll have to download this program http://www.spv-developers.com/forum/attach...attachmentid=78 unzip it on the PC, transfer it to your phone, run it there (after having installed the certificate) and follow the standard procedure described for the latest french update

You guys get this sorted for SMT5600 yet? I'd volunteer my phone if you want to do some testing but would obviously not like to tank it as it's my daily driver.  tongue.gif

Let me know thanks!

I don't know if somebody already tried to reflash with an Orange ROM and see if it works. If you're in a testing mood and nobody did it before, you can try biggrin.gif

QUOTE(osberaza @ May 16 2005, 17:51)
I bought an unlocked Audiovox SMT5600, I brought it to Spain and it would not work. I flashed the ROM to the French update and it would work fine. That means the ROM update changed the setting to the correct radio setting.

Anyway, the reception of this phone is terrible. I loose signal as soon as I get into my car or I drive around or I go to a remote area (where I would previously get perfect reception)

That's the main problem we noticed with this ROM. You can use TyphoonNBFTools to reflash only the GSM part with the previous update, and it should be better.

wonder if it stops locking EVC when there's a problem in the debugged target.

But I guess not, or it won't be ActiveSync anymore biggrin.gif

Well, Orange FR has introduced this (only for the voicemail, and for free) one year ago, and I think it's here to stay. Another fine example of group policies tongue.gif

HE 3g CARDS IT WILL NOT WORK IN THE SMARTPHONE OR ANY GSM PHONES.
The 3G cards are made to WORK ONLY with 3G handsets.

A 3G card WILL work in a 2G handset if you have a 2G AND a 3G subscription in the card. It depends if your operator is supporting this or not for your subscription ... all non pure 3G operators (Orange for example) should.

Regarding fun with Flash, I did a little wrapper around the PocketPC version when the SPV came out, but it was a bit too slow at that time :wink: - if you remember http://smartphone.modaco.com/viewtopic.php...er=asc&start=15

since the subject seems to get some people interested again, I removed the dust around it, if you're a developer, feel free to have a look, the full sources to the wrapper are available here - http://arisme.free.fr/hacks/binaries/Spflaa.zip

No support of course :wink:

Edit for people in a hurry, the interesting point in this wrapper is that you can go to the next control in your Flash movie by sending it a VK_TAB key event. Should be a piece of cake to add this to your own program

CODE
::SendMessage(pluginWindow, WM_KEYDOWN, VK_TAB, 1);

Sleep(100);

::SendMessage(pluginWindow, WM_KEYUP, VK_TAB, 1);

Well, guess we can hope that everybody will include this certificate in its ROM once it's launched :wink:

I'm more concerned by the restrictions regarding what someone can do with the privilegied certificate (mainly point 11 "Application code shall not Access any part of the device hardware through any means other than the APIs published in the Software Development SDK for the particular version of the MS Smartphone software").

Some parts of the undocumented-officially-but-fully-documented-in-the-patent RIL API can be pretty interesting and it'd be great to be able to use it in a more official way ... but it's pretty hard to find a contact at Microsoft to submit API evolution ideas :wink:

You can run WindowsSimlock.exe (either through SmartExplorer or create a shortcut).

To create a shortcut, create a text file called SimLock.lnk for example with the following content and put it somewhere in your Start Menu :wink:

QUOTE
01#windowssimlock.exe

If your device is unlocked, you'll see the input box with a blank text (it won't display "enter network code")

Then you can turn off the phone or kill the process remotely :wink:

It didn't last time a friend tried it. All you get is an application running with the phone in bootloader mode and a data file.

I don't understand how you can give a warranty for a hack that will void the phone warranty ... but perhaps I'm missing a subtle thing here :wink:
