Hi!

I was forced to do my first ever hard reset on my unlocked C550 and now everything works ok again apart from the Action/Cursor key. It is only responding to Left, Down and Press-In. All the other keys work ok.

Prior to the hard reset everything was 100%.

Tried hard reset procedure a further 3 times (with & without Storage Card) but same problem. Even tried the Clear Storage option in 'Accessories'.

I am reluctant to accept it is a hardware key problem since it was ok prior to the first hard reset.

Please can somebody advise on a fix?

The FM transmitters are powered by 2xAAA batteries. Anybody know how much battery life you can expect with typical useage of say 2 hours/day?

I know you can power using car cigarette lighter but then it gets more messier than the cassette adapter solution I am presently using anyway.

Had one bad experience with them a while back when I wanted the SPV C550. Quick in taking orders when they know there is no stock. Lies...lies!

It does not matter anymore if they are the best deal in town...I have washed my hands off them!

I think the task is called wcescomm.exe.

You can also use a small freeware application called 'ActiveSync Toggle' to temporarily switch ActiveSync on/off. Have a look at http://msmobiles.com/news.php/4643.html

Unfortunately it installs ok but does not display correctly in my Orange SPV C550.

Yes I found that happens with me too.
This is what I do to overcome that:

1. Select Menu/Pocket Quran (Sometimes it takes more than one go to get in)
2. Select Goto Ayah
3. Scroll down to Surah you require then select. (Briefly move joystick right before scrolling down...otherwise it does not scroll down).
4.Then select File/Close to close down Pocket Quran (Important)
5. Finally enter Pocket Quran again and your selected Surah will show.

Please can this be ironed out in future releases.

Is this just unlimited access to Orange World only?

Or can you access Orange GPRS (orangeinternet APN) unlimited until 23:59:59 on day of purchase?

The latter would mean including audio streaming, MSN etc of course?

I believe xbar (latest) does this automatically when memory levels reach a certain level.

Edit your xbar_cfg by adding:

// when % of memory load, try to clean memory
AUTOCLEAN=90

Which will automate a purge at 90%.

Press the joystic (Action) key and you will get into Pocket Islam proper.
Took me a while to work that out too by the way.

Yes indeed I actually had the idea when I came across the compass feature in TomTom 5 but as you say it will only give you a pointer whilst on the move.

Can somebody please suggest a compass application?
I have a GPS receiver but need an exact direction pointer. Hopefully, something exists out there preferably freeware.

I had a SPV C550 and 3rd party GPS receiver and for me the 'AnyGPSTweak' registry tweak was the only thing that worked. I tried everything else including the renaming of the 'pairing' but it just would not recognise the GPS device.

Try it and it may work for you too. You can always reverse the change by de-installing through Activesynch.

Ordered mine and was told to expect it next day. Did not arrive...

Two weeks of haggling before somebody told me that Orange have recalled all C550's over the dust issue.

I cancelled the order immediately and vowed never to use Onestopphoneshop again.

Biggest gripe is that their sales people are commission based and tend to take orders knowing they cannot fulfill. No email confirmation of orders taken over the phone which means nothing in writing to back up what you have ordered. I also was told that my order included free bluetooth headset when I placed it but they said no afterwards and asked me to take it up with customer services. They update their website daily so they are free to move the goal posts.

p.s. Ordered my SPV C550 from Orange pay as you go instead and was told delivery was 5-7 working days. To be fair, Orange also took my order but two days later got an email telling me the phone was out of stock. They also had problems with their delivery system which meant me getting my handset nearly 1 week late.

Difference with Orange was that they offered me my first month's spend refunded as credit on my phone. Thanks Orange!

Download and install the .cab file named AnyGPSTweak.cab

It should work then.

It worked for me when everything else failed.

Using the Filemanager on my SPV C550 I have located the AutoRun.exe file in the 2577 folder but when I highlight that and try to run it using (Joystick/Action) button nothing happens. I then try to use the Run command and what I get is another screen asking for a command. On that screen is written:

'Command Paremeters Field at top (need to put a command in that), Note: The called application entered in Command edit field, needs to support argument! Otherwise , it will have no effect'.

Question is what do I enter in correct syntax in that box to force a manual Run of AutoRun.exe?
