Hi all,

I've a couple of questions relating to GPSTuner which hopefully you can help with. I've tried to install it on my Orange E650 a couple of times now and everytime I start the application I get a NotSupportedException, I wondered if anybpdy else had had problems with this software on a similar phone?

My second question though is whether others have found similar software, for me it needs to have; I want to be able to use it to navigate in conjunction with a map (must be able to display current location in a usable format, I want to be able to know my elevation, speed and also export the route as a gpx at the end of the day, any suggestions?

Cheers, Dan.

Thanks to everyone for their help. I've now resolved the problem.

For anyone else that is struggling with a similar issue, what eventually sorted it was downgrading teh firmware to 1.01.05 (from 1.01.06 Annex A) and ensuring that I turned bluetooth on before turning WiFi on (I tried turning it on afterwards and this still didn't help, it had to be in the order bluetooth first then Wifi).

Cheers, Dan.

I had, thanks, though I've not tried turning bluetooth on as yet, I'll give that a go at home tonight.

Cheers, Dan.

QUOTE(gerben @ May 29 2007, 08:50) *
I have the WAG200G; no problem whatsoever. I disabled macadress first; broadend the range of IP# (I have 3 pc's running at home; so the range was for 3 IP; I made that 4) and voila: I could log in. After that I could log in.
I have wpa passphrase so when the 650 saw my network (ssid on) I could enter the passphrase and it connected. When I enable wifi on the phone, it automatically logs in to my home network.

Only problems I can find is Google Maps telling me about every 5 zoom levels that "this progra needs a connection blablabla" and when I press OK everything is fine. But surfing, reading mail etc.: everything ok.

Thanks Gerben, I've been speaking with the Linksys support team who have been helpful, they've now recommended that I roll back to a different firmware version.

I've got 50 IP addresses assigned to the DHCP range so I'm not concerned about that and I've also disabled all MAC address filtering and security on the network. The only thing I do at the moment is hide the SSID.

The phone connects to the network fine and receives an IP address, I just can't browse any pages or use Google Maps / Skype. I'm pretty confident that it's not a fault with the phone, I have been able to connect on other wireless networks.

Out of interest, are you running yours in mixed mode?

Cheers, Dan.

Hi all,

I reported a while back in a post that I was having trouble connecting to pages on my e650. Having done a lot more investigation with the help of both Orange and the Linksys support teams I wonder if any of you might now be able to help me move this closer to a resolution?

I wondered if any of you have Linksys Modem Routers which you are able to connect your Vox / E650 to the internet through.

I have a WAG300N and am unable to do so, I just wondered if I could give Linksys any information on their routers that do work they might be able to identify the problem in the firmware on the one I have.

Any help is much appreciated, thanks, Dan.

Hi all,

This is a bit of a cross posting, I didn't want to hijack somebody elses' post though so please bear with me.

I got an SPV E650 the other day and am very impressed with the phone, on the most part. I just can't get the WiFi to work. Whilst it connects to my network at home when I try and browse pages I get "Page cannot be displayed - Check the name and try again".

I've tried to solve this myself by taking all of the security off of my network and I've also pinged the domain names of various web sites and then tried to accesss them by IP address on the phone to ensure that it is not a DNS problem. I've also tried usinig a static IP address and inputting the default gateway.

Now I've just run out of ideas as to what to do. I've spoken to Orange technical support and they have suggested to me that I should run my wireless network at home in single mode. My router is a Linksys WAG300N and I can't put it in to single mode - is there anybody out there that is currently using an E650 successfully on a Mixed mode network?

Has anybody else suffered similar issues and managed to solve the problem? This is a superb phone and I am keen to get it working with my WiFi network at home.

Thanks, Dan.

I too am having problems with the WiFi on my E650.

I've taken all of the security settings off of the network other than disabling the broadcast of the SSID. The phone connects to the network and I get an IP address. However, like zed180 whenever I try to browse any pages using IE on the phone I get the error message Page cannot be displayed, check the name and try again. I've been able to connect through GPRS and also when the device is connect via activesync. I've also tried using a static IP address and adding the default gateway in thinking it might be related to that. Yesterday I pinged google to get the IP address and tried putting that in to the address bar to see if it was a DNS issue and still I got the error.

I've been on to Orange technical support and they have suggested to me that I should run my wireless network at home not in mixed mode. My router is a Linksys WAG300N and I can't put it in to single mode so I have hit a brick wall with this one.

If anyone has managed to solve this problem I would be grateful for any information you can give me.

Cheers, Dan.

I did manage to pair it - you go to the bluetooth section and then from the menu pair it - I had to use the factory password of 0000.

The only problem that I experienced was installing the software. I've still not managed to sort that out and have given up on it.

Hope that helps, Dan.

Hi all, I'm new to the forum so please go easy! I've recently purchased a Holux GPSlim 236 GPS receiver on the understanding that it would work with my Orange SPV C500.

Having just tried to install the GPSViewer software I am encountering problems. The install to my desktop PC works fine, however, I receive an error message on the phone itself saying that the software was not intended for the device.

I've followed the manual as best I can but it describes the use of a Blue Tooth manager found on Pocket PC which I can not find on the SPV. I have found two Bluetooth setup screens in the configuration menu and have turned inbound and outbound com ports on.

Have any of you used the Holux with an SPV C500 and if so could you give me some pointers in how to get it set up?

Thanks, Dan.
