Thanks phil exchanged lcd's last night , I am just getting used to the SPV C600 , also spotted a few cheap LCD screens for the SPV C550 on Ebay last night so may get one once i have some funds. the C600 is a nice phone , the joystick is a bot sluggish compared to the one on my C550 , takes two clicks to respond sometimes but its a lot quicker on the menu screens etc. That guide for swapping screens was great. I may unlock my C550 to virgin or possibly unlock the C600 as i like the music download thing on the 550. not sure yet. thanks again |

Hi folks, My mate has just given me his smashed C600 as he has upgraded to a k800i ericsson or something like that Can I use the screen off my C550 in the c600 and also is there any real benefit of changing from C550 to C600 Is it a world of difference. otherwise can you get a screen cheapish , I have seen them on ebay for about £30 , but an actual C600 can go for about that too. |

if you mean parallax i know and his stuff is ace, if you mean masterall , how the hell did you get it to run and where did you get the files. I downloaded the stuff recommended on the threads here and ended up with a non working pocketsnes that kicked back to the desktop on choosing a game every time i ran it , reinstalled parallaxes and it worked fine first go. if masteralls stuff does indeed work , i am interested as I hear it runs ok with sound also which would be great. on my attempts though that tgetfile thing lets me choose something then kick out to home screen everytime |

It is an Ipaq 5550 can anyone recommend any software I should look for , I am not sure what these things can do for a start. I am interested in emulation, games, wifi, bluetooth, office software, multimedia stuff, and silly but fun stuff too. is there anything I should look out for. I have Pocket streets installed on there now and have found a couple of emulators , Pocket Clive and Pocket UAE |

all you need mate is the latest version of active sync that is available from microsofts own web site, the emulators and stuff on modaco work well on a SPV c550 as long as you get the correct ones , find the versions by parallax as his all work on the 550 masterall has done a load but they just quit back to the home screen when you run them , even if you download the tgetfile thing. Active Sync Link |

I paid £99 new for my SPVc550 and its a neat little phone for playing with , though the C600 was £129 a year ago so you should get one of them cheap now and its newer than my 550. |

I have noticed my SPV C550 has become more and more sluggish as time has gone on , despite me removing loads of stuff from storage and putting things onto the mini sd card. sometimes the phone will ring ill click answer and it will not connect the call and then crash with the persons name on the screen saying calling. sometimes I will play an mp3 and it will play at a higher rate than normal and as for moving through the menus , that in itself can take an age as the phone is very sluggish in response to a key press for whatever I choose. I also get a problem when opening sms messages from time to time whereby a small whell will appear containing windows mobile colours and all it does is spin and wont open my sms inbox , this usually entails a reset. also the bluetooth on my SPV is rubbish compared even to my ancient 6230 Nokia it finds people then loses them even when a phone is placed right next to it, it locks up when sending files which then requires a reboot before you can send anything else. Other than these problems the phone is great, anyone come across or solved any of / all of these |

I use MAMECE and PCMAME on my spv c550, i prefer PCMAME to be honest but both are good programs. does anyone have an idea what version of MAME roms these two support though, its a nuisance chucking roms across to the SPV to discover they just go to a black screen and wont run.its something like mame 0.34 or something but im not 100% sure of the exact version , also is there a way I can organise my roms on the pc into version 0.3whatever for transmission to the spv I believe there is a prog called mameclr or something but i havent ever used it. Is there in fact a list of tried and tested roms that work on MAMECE and PCMAME I can confirm ghosts n goblins on PCMAME (at a slow rate on my phone however) Frogger works on MAMECE. |

I am using a C550 has anyone got a tip to get around this or shall I try it at xmas when I buy the C700 |

first off parralax thanks for the ace emulators. Being an spv c550 owner I find masteralls emulators sadly wont work properly on my phone. I am lucky that for a time at least you had the same phone as me , and your versions work great. have you any plans for updates or is that it now. |

Has anyone noticed that bluetooth is very slow and quirky on the spv c550 , I have just bought a 6230 and the tooth runs so much faster on it , i wonder why. in general i find the spv c550 quite slow at some tasks and sometimes it seems to clog up so it takes a few seconds to respond even to a simple menu movement, should i have to reset the spv after every application? Mame CE on it rocks though I have just had a blast on my mates spv c600 and the speed increase is very noticable , may upgrade this xmas |

I currently use Orange gprs with my SPV C550 pay as you go mobile phone £1 gets me a days gprs which is very reasonable i think. I have just bought a second hand Nokia 6230 on the vodafone netwrok , do they have any internet bundles available as thats what i use mostly on a mobile. Most of the plans i come across though are text or voice budles , both useless to me. do any of the networks have a good deal as i may coinsider Orange 'ifying my Nokia as well unless voda has a similar offer. |

I have tried using your version of pocket Snes Masterall with the following results. Phone Type : Orange SPV C55 installed the required tgetfile sdk ran the program and it loads up an info page about tgetfile you then browse the memory card for your roms, pick one and the emulator goes black and then switches off. all roms work fine on parralax's version so it must be the emu. dont know if this helps anyone ? |

so as far as I get the jist of things here. You cant get free wap on your spv's you may be able to get free wap on a stone ager like an 8210 or something. so really the only free wap you can get is useless unless you want to find a good restraunt nearby on your 8210 - cool! think i'll be happy with my £1 when you want it PAYG Orange all day WAP |

I thought it was maybe something wrong with the files but now I have treid about 30 sites and always get this message? any ideas? I have tried small midis 1-2k,medium 10,20k and 20k plus none of them work I have renamed them in case of $&)£* etc causing problems , but even a 2k file called n.mid will not work ? |

I quite like the PIE that came with my SPV C550 but there are a couple of things I would like to know. 1) Is it possible to download files using PIE every time I try and download anything other than a pic or music file it says this is not supported on this device, for example say I wanted to download a small zip file and put it on my storage card is this basic task available to the smartphone user? 2) What are the alternatives to PIE, I think there is a version of Opera you can buy for smartphone , but what about open source stuff , where is Mozilla ?? 3) from time to time if I try and download a jpg file my phone reports it cannot display this file and some times I will download a midi and it also is unsupported , strange on a phone that supports midi files that a fair few out there in cyberspace wont work. |

I feel a bit sorry for Parallax20 I hope you didnt put in too much time on the project Parallax, Im sure your work would have been just as good - now im off to d/load and try it out - big whoop cant wait. |

I am using an SPV C550 to use PocketHobbit I have a QVGA screen I believe on this device and PocketHobbit seems to use the screen well in landscape mode. In portrait mode it doesnt use the whole screen but I guess it would look abnormal if it did. I Cant get the emulator to load tap roms up yet though it will recognise the files and I have had difficulty loading a few disk images Creatures,Ghosts n goblins , ghouls n ghosts, enigma force are afew that didnt load up. however this could all be down to roms and I cant be bothered creating somekind of device to load and convert the actual tapes/disks to my pc to test them out. In general the emulator is great , the text is a little hard to read but we are talking about a mobile phone screen to play something designed for a 14+ inch TV so its not bad. being able to play r-type whilst waiting in a hospital queue or on the bus is fantastic well done. one word of advice is turn of phonepad tones as they slow things down and get annoying |

=D> well done Parallax you are a credit to the community. if only I had some of your talent , I am just getting to grips with Visual Basic lol. The emulators you have done so far are brilliant, my little 5 yr old cousin was playing sonic the hedgehog for about an hour yesterday on my SPV C550 using picodrive. I have had some success with the MAME emulator ,although getting the correct roms is tougher now in this day and age gone are the halycon days of Mame.dk and places like the dump for genesis roms but I have got frogger running on Mame so far and scramble though I always get a lot of slowdown on that one for some reason. Being a retro fan in general it was great to see that the smartphone community has released some gems. the only thing I am jealous of is the fact that my girlfriend can play Monkey Island on scummvm using her Nokia 6680 and my SPV c550 wont run Scummvm anyway well done and thanks for the great emu's |

Hello all A techie style question for you from a smartphone starter. I am a poor student type and hence have no landline phone at home, I do however get access to the internet via my mobile phone SPV C550 using Orange worlds great £1 all day offer to Pay as you go customers. (I used to use the £4 16MB option till my SPV took it all and £25 as well on top in 1 day) all I am now wondering is this. Would it be possible for me to link my phone up to the pc at home and use the gprs connection on the phone somehow to gain access to the internet via my pc. I appreciate the loading times would be horrendously slow but with that I can deal as I have no other alternative available. If this is possible then how can it be done , what settings do I need to access on pc and SPV? it may be pie in the sky but its a possibility maybe, if gprs is impossible maybe CSD access is an option as CSD is only £4 for 160 minutes through orange. if this can be achieved either way (preferably gprs) then I am interested thanks. |

Im not sure. |
