Hi bradavon. I was looking into this phone as well. Mods, my apologies if this is not allowed, but here is a good site.

http://www.pdadb.net/index.php?m=pdacomparer

It gives you a ability to compare phones.

C500
46.2 x 107.5 x 17.5 millimetres
103 gramms

S730
51 x 105.8 x 19.4 millimetres
150 gramms

So there is a bit of size and weight difference.

Hi Paul. There was some discussion over at PPCSG on the first official thread for this phone where a Mr Foo was writing to Asus support and got the following response. This phone might only charge with the original supplied charger?

Dear Mr.Foo

This is ASUS PM Hundred, in charge of P750 PDA phone,

I have to say sorry for the bad user experience you had for the past days,

Internally, we are checking the bugs you raised in detail, but ASUS RD do need more information to clarify the clear user scenario to make sure the root cause.

Your suggestion will be much helpful for us to improve the product quality,

Besides, regarding the battery charging issue, please help to provide the scenario if you are using the push mail or not (periodically sync or anytime), because it will consume power absolutely.

And did you charge the P750 with complied adaptor (Tamura adaptor) or other vendor adaptor? In order to protect the battery & system, the P750 is limited to be charged by Tamura adaptor otherwise the charging current will be 100mHA only when using other adaptors.

Thirdly, actually we have a bug with battery drain in previous SW version but we solved in the latest SW version, it`s slightly different from your question. However, I think it may be similar bug, please install the hotfix64386 and then check if the charging bug happen again or not. (You can extract the files into MicroSD card root dictionary, then plug in the MicroSD directly, it will automatically install)

Finally, regarding the system hang, please remove the SPB then try several days, we doubt it may be caused by SPB FW,

For the rest issues, I`ll make a call to you next week since vacation in Japan now, but please inform me via mail if any update. I`ll give my best report to you!!

Sorry for any inconvenience caused,

Hundred Yu

Are there any more reviews of this phone? Has anyone purchased one and is it available anywhere besides the auction site?

Wow, it does look like a very nice portable phone. Ever since I switched from my Vox to a Touch, I've been looking for something like the Vox without a slider. This could very well be the phone I've been looking for. As a companion phone to my Kaiser, this could let me go back to Smartphone...er WM Standard as my carry-everywhere device to replace my Touch. Please do let us know how this performs and how tolerable the smaller screen is. I'm seriously considering purchasing this device. Thank you so much for the great unboxing vid. Althought nothing fancy about it, I'm drooling because of its size!

Some phones have different dollar amounts associated with the rebates, but as a T-Mobile sales rep, I can tell you for sure that the Shadow's rebate is for $50.

Thanks!

Pretty awesome Kjboss!!!

I got mine for $90, possibly for $40 after rebate.

Got the upgrade calling customer service. Told them I wanted to cancel my account. They gave me the Shadow for $90. I picked it up at a local Tmobile corp store. Went home and found the $50 rebate online and I just mailed it out. Hopefully I get it. But either way, I'm happy so far with this phone.

Is there a link to the rebate somewhere? I found a form via tmobilerebates.com but no where on the form does it indicate any $50 rebate value or any value at all.

I had to S710 for some time already and the slider became loose after 1 month of usage. It didn't really feel too solid when it was brand new, and the bottom portion eventually started to wiggle very easily. I now have a Tytn II and the slider is much more tight and stable without any room for wiggle compared to the S710. However, this is just 2 days of usage so far, and I hope this rock solid feeling lasts. I will report back after some more usage. My expectations are pretty high and the initial feel of it compared to the S710 has me thinking it will be better.

Hi, i got the org. HTC S620.

TomTom installation no problem.
keyboard works fine.

here comes the problem:

i can't choose the COM Port in TomTom. There are now buttons to go up and down.

does anyone now how to fix this problem?
Please don't say : use a fake cursor or something like that (they don't work)

thanks a lot.

Thomas

Otherwise i love the S620 - used to have an MDA Compact but the s620 is just so much lighter and easier to type on.

Not sure why fake cursor doesn't work for you. That's how I've been able to run this on my Dash.

Doesn't look like anyone cares to support the Dash with emulator software.

I'm really hoping someone would get some of these emulators working. I do have PocketGnuboy PPC version working but it does not take advantage of the screen. Will be experimenting with other PPC emulators on my Dash to see if they work. FakeCursor allows control of the touchscreen interface, but so far PocketSNES for PPC is not responsive. Snes9xJ4u doesn't work either. I've had no luck with the Smartphone versions of emulators. Smartgear seems to be the only one that works, but is limited and have to play with rotated and small screen.

Can the tzones key on the Dash be remapped to another CAPS key? Seeing that the Short_IE.lnk can be altered to execute other functions like 36#"\windows\CommManager.exe, I'd like to map the keyboard to have dual shift keys like my Treo650 was. Does anyone know if that is possible?

pTravelAlarm is my absolute favorite, unfortunately though it's not yet out for WM5-Smartphone edition. Last week I emailed the author asking about it, and, he said it's on the horizon, but no time frame. pTravelAlarm is the perfect example of 'less is more'... You set the alarm, it rings until you shut off, there aren't a zillion settings, it doesn't generate errors... it just works.

Using the version for Smartphone 2003 is more than adequate on my Dash. Not a big deal that it only fills half the screen. Alarms and snooze buttons work just fine.

Well, I know that I am not the only one that is upset with the WM5.0 alarm feature. I used the alarm on my Razr religiously and found it quite easy to set multiple alarms. Something that I am really interested in is something with a SNOOZE option. As a college student I rely extensively on snoozing to get started with my days.

Thanks in advance...

I use pTravelAlarm. It has multiple alarms that can play mp3 files and has a configurable snooze.

Has anyone ever tried the Palm Treo headphones?  They use the 2.5mm connector.  I had a Treo650 before and still have the headphones.  I'm getting an old MPX200 this weekend and would like to know if they work.  Here is a link to the ones I have:

If no one know, I'll post my results next week once I have the chance to try them.
